Yeah, it's rock solid. Fast too, especially with the Devil 3 HB 1.1 kernel.

Does it have /datadata?

i have a noob question: how about the ICS bug "the internal sd card destroyer" ? this can be trigger in Helly bean? any reported that they can't access the internal sd card/internal storage? thanks

GPS seemed about normal for me, but I always use an external BT GPS receiver anyway. If I can figure out why my radio won't pick up any networks it could very well be my daily. Well, that and battery usage which is left to be seen.

I wouldnt say its far from being bug free. There is really only one issue and that is gps. Battery has improved a lot since the early cm7 days.

If you're able to sweep issues like 2g/3g toggle, mute/unmute to hear, various wifi staying connected problems, etc etc, then yes you're correct.
But the only issue I have is gps and im fine with that. Plus I dont have mute/unmute prob or wifi prob. Its my daily driver. Ty cm7

The mute unmute is not a problem if you shut your screen off immediately after answering the call. Either by locking it or letting the ambient light sensor do its job

[Q] what is the difference in Vibrant and Vibrant MTD?

I'm rooting a friends phone for him and i was just about to flash CWM from ROM Manager but i don't know if i should flash Vibrant or Vibrant (MTD). what's the difference?
Vibrant (MTD) is for Cyanogen Mod 7
unless if you're planning on flashing CM7 RIGHT after that, then do the regular vibrant option.

Honestly im running the latest nightly of cm7, applied the gps fix, and am running the glitch kernel....
Everything is flawless. Gps locks fast, no force closes on anything. Stable and smooth. No more in call audio problems.... its come a LONG way. Gingerbread really is pretty much stable at this point if youve tried it.
You can always try the latest nightly and if you dont like it flash back to something else without a problem.

well the problem is that it's not for my phone so I wouldn't have constant access to it provided something went wrong. and if that wouldn't be a deterent, could you post links for the latest nightly, gps fix and kernel

Surely give me about half hour.
As long as your friend doesnt live an hour away it takes 5 minutes to change a rom if hes unhappy

Ok here are the links. First download cm7. The latest nightly is 62, here is the link:
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/get/cm_vibrantmtd_full-62.zip
Here is a link to the glitch kernel. There are three different kinds here is the one which is usually the best and most stable:
http://androtransfer.com/tk-glitch/...rant/VoodooColor/CM7Vibrant-Glitch-V11-HL.zip
Here is a link to the gps fix. There are a few steps, but if you take your time you should have no problem.

If you want a REALLY stable rom with not a lot of bells and whistles apart from the standard tweaks, Zendroid 2.0.1 with Bali is an excellent choice for a beginner (its what I started off with) and has excellent battery life, especially with it's generally dark colored theme.
Im sorry but no offense. At this point, roms for the vibrant aren't very originally.
I've found that all the gingerbread roms are based purely off CM7 at this point, even burgertimes roms are based from CM7 source.....
CM7 really is the way to go at this point. It's more than stable enough as a daily driver, and if you know what you're doing it's even better.
Can't go wrong with CM7 these days.... Anyone who tells you otherwise i'm just going to have to believe is a fool...
Hey why not go with Bionix, it's only 10 years outdated now.

Works... Dunno what the excitement is about, however. The flipping animation?
I'll just keep using Pulse. Stories pull up faster, and they're consistent.. In Flipboard random stories are paged, others just scroll...
Reminds me of News 360. Pretty, but that's about it.

Straight Talk and Jellybean???

Was just the ROM you put on it or did you have to flash other stuff to make it run smooth? Does it come with Google apps?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
I flashed the RC8 with a h0tcakes kernel and used Google jb 4.2 apps. It runs awesome. The kernel let's me over clock to 1836 but I keep it around 1700. Google now works and I have no problems. I also learned that touchwiz uses a lot of ram because as soon as I got rid of it I have around 250mb of ram free. When I I had the stock rom I usually had around 100.

Honestly...read read read. This way if something eff's up you'll know how to fix it. But root the phone install the necessary gapps and then download rom manager and goo. im from the play store. Those will help you find kernels and gapps. But basically you install the gapps through recovery same as the rom. I'm not good at explaining it Lol. But go to the original dev forum and the liquidsmooth rc8 thread tells you the steps.
