[Q] Red dot when booting? - Motorola Droid RAZR

This issue appeard after I flashed eclipse rom with GSM patch. Now everytime I boot the phone there is a red dot where the sensors are for answering calls (when you answer a call and the screen becomes black, I dont remember the technical name for it atm) What is it and how can I get rid of it? I reflashed Epsilon v3 and it's still there? :silly:
Maybe @whirleys can answer this because it appeared after I installed bootmenu 0.2.5?

It means init.d is loading. Its okay
Cheers

Oh ok mate, thanks for the quick answer, I thought something was wrong :silly:

Do you have it for a long time when system is already running? I do and honestly - I don't know why, but this is happening after updating to 0.2.5 BootMenu version. If that matters I've flashed MIUI 2.7.27 converted with Converter

I have the same scenario, but thanks to the apps whirleyes. It save my phone from being bricked when I flash a patch that is BM, the apps didn't allow me to reboot unless the system is good. So I did a system restore.
I get the constant red led every boot up until it reach the desktop. No biggie.
Only question is, am I missing or messed any system file?

System Recovery Crashing!!!

I keep having issues with the system recovery. I mean the Clockwork one not the stock recovery. It will never work unless i go to the system recovery app and click recovery mode. Also sometimes when switching menus, I.E. going to the backup and restore option, the menu for the next items doesn't appear. Any way to fix this? I don't want to mess up on a flash and kill my phone.

You mean install recovery? If so, yes. Also since no one else can answer this it seems, does Eclipse support HDMI mirroring? It's a big deal for me.
If u r talking about clockwork from rom manager them u r right it wont work.. u have to use system recovery app plugged into wall charger at same time.. the recovery we use is 2.1.5.8 or something like that.. it is an older recovery.. our device dx2 is not supported on rom manager yet and may not ever be.. if this isn't what u mean im sorry.. just trying to help u. Yeah I know that. The system recovery we use is still Clockworkmod though. And yes I stay clear of rom manager. Thanks for the help on HDMI. I can't seem to get wiimotes working with this though. I can connect them but they don't work withing riptide. That's the only games I've tried them with. I can use it to interact with the phone in a limited way. Is it the key mappings?
Don't know anything about hdmi as I don't use it at all.. if you r running eclipse it could be something with the rom itself but im not sure.. hope u can find some answers to your problems though.. good luck

You're...half right about it being CWM. It's based off of CWM, but doesn't mean it is. Trust me, until this damn bootloader gets fixed, we're stuck with a "tethered" recovery, if you will.

This is something id like a definitive answer on, I've been told koush can make an untethered version and I've been told it will remain tethered until bootloader is cracked. Can someone tell me the answer along with an explanation so I know you aren't talking out your ass. Hopefully dragonz or naven answers, I trust those guys response to be accurate

one more question

if i backed up my system before flashing my rom, and i want to install a new rom, do i back up the current rom then wipe everything then load the new rom?
If you want to, you don't have to, just make sure you have at least one system back up just in case you get a bootloop or something to restore.
whats a bootloop? and remember how you told me to back up my system the first time, thats the only one i need? like i can just put rom on sd card wipe then install?

That's correct, a bootloop is when you install a rom and it keeps reboot or gets stuck on the bootanimation without actually going into android.

Yse,I download the V 2.11 from that Thread nad I'm sure I Toggled into the safe system before I reboot the system. Now I can start the phone, but it seems that the ROM didn't flashed into the phone,it still running a offical Rom.
Safestrap won't let you flash on Non-Safe System. So, boot in recovery and toggle straight into Safe System. It will show you, if Safe System is enabled on top. After that start the installation with all wipes and reboot without toggle back into Non Safe System.

I was very happy to find this, and boy has it been fun. All I wanted to do was remove the GPS (bullseye) icon, I had everything else the way Iwanted it. First I could not get WiFi. My bad though, forgot to fastboot the boot.img, so did that and life was good again. So applied a few mods I like, remove wifi from dropdown, added the Blackout_DeoDexed_LockMod, RemoveGPSReticle, nfc-fix-signed, and GPS_PercentageMod. So now my problem is either no GPS icon, yesss but no battery % either, bummer, or battery % and gps icon, bummer.
Your ROM though is fantastic! I just need no gps icon with battery % and wake on volume rocker mod.

Thanks for this! Exactly what I wanted, as the busybox I flashed, and could not change without a new kernel, doesn't support bz2 or lzma only gzip.
So just to be clear it should be good if I...
'adb push'd the zip to my /sdcard/
'adb reboot recovery' into TWRP that I flashed before
selected install, and chose the ROM zip
Cleared my Dalvik and cache areas
Rebooted into the bootloader
'fastboot flash boot boot.img' while in the folder where I expanded the ROM zip
Finally rebooted, and am done?
adb seems to connect me as root now, and /system can be written to...so I think it worked! Unfortunately Stericson was the same version of busybox I already had. Will have to search around for that other copy. But at least I can replace it now!

[Q] droid dna busybox zip?

Hi well this is my second DNA trying to root destroyed the first one lol... Well anyways the first one I downloaded supersu and busybox and figured out it didn't work and I ruined it now.... This is my second phone I have flashed the superuser and binaries. I am figuring out that I have root but its not working correctly.. mostly my changes that I need root for are not lasting through reboot I'm not losing root but I'm losing my changes as in when I delete amazon its gone but when I reboot its back. my only assumption is that its because busybox is missing can anyone confirm this and is there any possible way where I can just get the busybox zip... I have been on the busybox.net website and seen the downloads but I would like confirmation before u destroy this phone to which I hope don't not happen.
Unless you have s-off or have flashed a new kernel, the system partition is right protected, even when you think it isn't. I think that is what is causing your problem.
Why don't you flash a room that already had root/busybix installed?

When first unlocking and rooting my phone, I thought the same thing about busy box. But what you need to do is flash a new kernel first and foremost which will remove write protection.

Reading your OP and the rest of your comments in this thread, you're all over the place. Things you are doing will not fix your original problem and trying to achieve s-off just because it looks popular and running into difficulties trying to achieve it only adds to problems and confusion. I suggest you step back, slow down and get familiar with terms before you break another phone. While a small portion of the info is EVO 4G specific, you should check these out for general knowledge:

Your root is probably sticking in between boots. As we don't have any ROMs that free up the wasted space in the system folder, it's pointless for you to try to delete apps that you don't want installed. You can simply go into Settings\Apps\All and force stop them and then disable. If that doesn't work, you can use Titanium Backup and hit the middle "Backup/Restore" tab. Click on the app you want and Freeze it (this will stop it from running.) If that doesn't float your boat, you can try to uninstall it.

Anything he does with will not stick through the boot because he doesn't really have root access. I had the exact same problem before flashing a writeable kernel. After I flashed DSB 2.5.4 [when I originally was going through the process] that corrected the whole busybox/binaries issue. Using Titanium Backup at this point is pointless as well because after he restarts his phone, they'll all be back.
Edit: Plus it will say you have root without a writeable kernel but you don't have write permissions to have things like uninstalling bloatware stick through a boot.

You're right. I had assumed he had unlocked and flashed an unsecure boot image before attempting to flash su and busybox. Perhaps I did assume too much. I'll refer him to here in that case.
