We cannot help you when you post less informations about which rom exactly and which device you are talking about. You are from China,ok so I guess you own a GSM Razr. And which CM9 Rom exactly are you trying to run?

You toggled into Safe System, before you start the installation process? And in the Thread is linked the V 2.11 for GSM. You used this?

Yse,I download the V 2.11 from that Thread nad I'm sure I Toggled into the safe system before I reboot the system. Now I can start the phone, but it seems that the ROM didn't flashed into the phone,it still running a offical Rom.
Safestrap won't let you flash on Non-Safe System. So, boot in recovery and toggle straight into Safe System. It will show you, if Safe System is enabled on top. After that start the installation with all wipes and reboot without toggle back into Non Safe System.

You need a custom recovery to flash roms such as cm7. It is also used to make a backup of your phone and wipe the data on your phone. How is it that you've flash cm7 (which means that you've also used your recovery before) yet you don't know the purpose of having a recovery? I think you're going way to ahead of yourself.
Sent from my LG-P509 using xda premium
I'm guessing it's more of a case of he's flashed cm7, using the recovery to do so, but doesn't understand the behind-the-scenes procedures that go into the actual flashing.
you need to read the sticky thread if you dont know basics
Think of custom recovery as the basic setup/installer tool for anything and everything related to custom ROMs, kernels, etc. .
kdz and lgdrm are only for stock(OEM)/official releases.
The reason you need it, because it's the only way to do it and carrier's don't give you access to change your ROM. Does Microsoft put mod chips/software in xbox 360? No, hell no, they only give you limited access and regulate what content can be yours.
Custom recoveries come with features that you normally can't do, like nand(full phone backup) backup.
It's this way because that's how it has to be done.

Just because your phone is "rooted" dosent mean you can install a rom like a app, you need to use clockwork mod, why do you need it? you need it because it allows you to perform actions that you couldn't do on a stock phone. With clockwork mod you can back up your system files, restore system files, install new roms for use or testing. If your phone is just "rooted" all it means is you can now access system files, use certain "root required" apps, being rooted is step #1 to installing clockwork mod, its like your phone is unlocked, if you just want your phone rooted to delete some system apps thats fine, but it is wise to flash clockwork mod because it can prevent your phone from being bricked and now you can install roms. so the answer is pretty simple, how else would you install a rom without clockwordmod? you couldnt so its just one of those things you need, hope this helps man
reply
apart from all this custom roms come packed as zip files n kdz updater or lgdrm doesnt recognize these files so u need to hace custom recoveries like cmw or twrp or amonra

I don't think that you could do that... since the phone doesn't even come with CM7 in the first place. Doing a factory reset / restore wouldnt bring the phone to stock CM7. Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't it bring the phone back to FroYo since that's what it came with?
CM7 is already a custom ROM so there is nothing stock about it... Stock means whatever the phone came with from the box (FroYo) CM7 is Gingerbread.

If your running cm7 or any rom you can do a factory/reset through the rom your using, it will just erase all info but wont delete the rom and it will delete apps so when you reboot you will have to set up Google account like a new phone, cm7 will still be installed and your current rom it will just be like new, to do a factory reset go to settings, security then hit factory reset, reboot and then back to a clean start on cm7 there will be a option to erase everything on the SD card, hit no if you want to keep all files on your SD or hit yes if you want it all gone, goodluck p.s the only way you can go back to stock is to flash a stock rom and if you made a backup of your stock rom before you flashed cm7

Hi. I've installed the latest ICS leak from Germany and got it rooted.
Now I want it to show battery percentage somehow, but not with an extra status bar icon.

If you have boot strap or safe strap and all you want is a battery mod you can go to the uotkitchen and build one very easily. Then flash it. Pretty strait forward. Other than that its not going to happen. I use battery indicator and deal w the extra icon in the status bar
All I can tell that I'm rooted and on a GSM model. As far as I can read is bootstrap and safestrap for CDMA only, or correct me if I'm wrong. I know that I can I stall CWM recovery, will that work?
So I would have to do a nandroid backup and run it through the kitchen and then restore it with CWM again?

I have tried clearing everything but still doesn't seem to work.
One thing I forgot to mention is sometimes if I wait long enough on the blank screen It boots me back into the 4ext recovery, don't know if that makes much of a difference.
The way I have been installing the rom
Load ROM onto the SD
Do a "wipe data/factory reset"
Go into install sd and choose the Rom which is in a .zip file
I think this is how its supposed to be done, but not sure.

I saw "setting 2init" but I can't make any sense of what it means or how I can make use of it.
While trying to figure it out, I found the guide to upgrade to official JB but the JB OTA file it points to is for the xt912 (I'm using the xt910).
NOTE: I'm not going with the official JB, but it is the only other comprehensive guide I could find for upgrading from 4.0.4.

You are now using the official cm10.1. and why does your first system is gone? its dangerous, dont leave it like that, make the stock rom as a backup if something happens at the other system
the reason its showing nothing when you booted your phone is becuase you have wiped you first system! so now i recommend you to factory reset in the stock revocery and flash the 672.180.14.XT910.Retail.en.EU firmware at this link : http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umt...SPDRICSRTGB_HWp2b_Service1FF_fastboot.xml.zip
