formatted boot and accidentally restarted system
now i get the green android logo from the boot loader but it goes no further
i can't get into recovery or download mode
what do i do?
Take the battery out, wait a few seconds, put it back in. Give 'er the three-finger salute (both volume rockers and power held down) until you see the Vibrant logo. Voila. You're in recovery....
nope didn't work
i can get into download mode tho
im familiar with odin but i don't know what i did so i don't really know what to flash
ok well when i get home ill odin lidroid then ics
Did you try the battery thing more than once? I just ask because I think my phone went into boot loop at least twice in a row when I was flashing ICS. Seems odd that it just takes that many times to work, but sometimes you gotta kinda wait it out a little...
So, I wanted to update the Rom, so tried to go into recovery mode. Pushed the volume down button instead of up, so got into download mode. Pushed the volume down button to cancel. Then pushed the right combination, but nothing past the Galaxy S2 logo with the warning triangle happened.
Tried to reboot a couple of times, but now the phone is completely dead.
Everytime I turn it on the Galaxy S2 logo appear, and when it dissappear the phone seems to be dead. However if I look closely, the screen is not turned off, it it just black (but turned on), and every 5 seconds or so I can see it "blinking", but it blinks "black" if you could say that, you won't notice it if you don't look careful, or you are in a dark room.
If you triple click the home button you normally "invert" the colours on the screen, and this also works in this case. Instead of it flashing with an almost unnoticable black, it is now white and every 5 seconds the screen turns off very briefly, but then the screen is white again.
To get it to stop doing this I need to remove battery. If I push and hold the power button the phone just restarts with the galaxy s2 logo, and then does the same again.
When I connect the phone to a charger or to a PC (while it's powered down), the battery logo appears for a couple of seconds, and then it enters this "blinking" screen thing again.
When connected to a PC it does not appear as a drive - however it seems like windows detects it, it installs the GT-9100 drivers. Samsung Kies can't connect, it just keeps trying to connect forever, without coming with an error, but it's not connecting.
Hard reset is not working in any of the described ways, whatever I do, if its to get it into recovery mode, download mode, or just trying to turn the damn phone on, it just do the blinking thing.
Is this some sort of a boot loop from hell!!?
sounds strange, can you still get it in download mode without issues?
If you can i would advice to flash back to stock(!!)
or you could try to flash a cf-root to see if thats gets you into recovery format system, data, cache, dalvik and flash the new rom.
but im not sure if that would work, a clean install from stock would be better i believe,
as to why it went this way i have no idea!
Good luck!
If you can get in download mode, flash a stock rom with odin and that should do the trick
yes!
Well, that was odd, thought I had tried that several times, but yes now at least I can get it into download.
Now I used ODIN to flash a file (CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-v5.3-CWM5.tar) that I had laying on my PC from back when I was originally rooting my phone. ODIN gave me a "Pass" reply and I got the phone into a bootloader. I quickly wiped everything I could, and at the moment I'm seeing if I can boot the phone normally.
Thanks!!
Well my rom is f***** it won't boot, but atleast I can get it into recovery mode.
Have just installed cyanogen 9 stable + gapps, it is now booting up!
Luckily I backed my phone up with Titanium backup just a couple of hours ago!!!
it's working!
Well that saved my ass. I was so close to throwing my phone out of the window and going online to order a S3...
Now I'm setting up my phone - nice, wanted to try Cyanogen 9 anyway.
Cool.. Always be patient.... Rather than thinking of purchasin a new phone when these kind of situations occur. Keep a usb jig with you

Hi there,
I followed the wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_i9100g instructions to install CM10.1 on my i9100g (up from stock samsung 4.1.2).
It worked fine until step 6 of installing CM Recovery: A blue transfer bar will appear on the device showing the recovery being transferred.
Since the reboot follwing the install, my phone does nothing but displaying the samsung boot logo (showing the device number).
When the logo is shown, I have two options:
1. Long press power, or up+home+power, or down+home+power.
The phone will then reboot and start over showing the boot logo.
2. Take out the battery.
When I re-insert the battery, the display will first display an empty battery logo, and after a few seconds it will switch to the half-full battery logo, as if it was charging (even though no cable is attached).
I have tried the following:
1. Get into download or recovery mode.
Nope, that doesn't seem to work, it always starts the normal boot logo, when I press up/down+home+power.
Taking out the battery for minutes, or holding up/down+home+power veeerry long doesn't help either.
2. start adb reboot recovery
Nope, adb can't find the device.
Kies doesn't connect to the device either, even though windows shows the USB device when the phone hangs at boot logo.
3. Followed the un-soft-brick-my-SGS2 guide.
It doen't apply, since I can't get to download mode.
4. Reflash the kernel/ROM.
Nope, I can't get to download mode, remember?
Any Ideas?
How about just batt pull + normal power up? Did it go straight to boot logo still? Because last time I crapped a flash, it'll show the phone + PC logo instead and that's good thing because that still mean you can hook to Odin and fall back to stock fw.

No, normal power up shows the same behavior, its showing the boot logo. But thank you anyway.
Yesterday I could borrow a USB jig get the phone right into download mode. Didn't work either. So I guess my only option is to send it in.
WTF? After having the Battery removed for two days the phone suddenly showed normal behavior and allowed to go into download mode.
Strange... Maybe the hardware is indeed defective, because it often says that a cable is attached even if its not the case.
Well I was undervolting and underclocking my i9100 for a few months and it would suffer from freezes and stuff like that nothing much as I would be able to perform a hard reset and reboot with my phone completely working everytime that happens. However today, I just locked my phone after taking a picture and I could not unlock it after that. I pressed the power button and home button but the screen would not turn on. So i just took out the battery and tried booting the phone. It was stuck in a bootloop where the boot animation would just keep on playing. So i force shutdown it and booted it into recovery. I had CWM 6.0.4.6 installed and when i booted into recovery, it gave me the message it cannot mount something and cannot load last kmsg and blah. I took no notice and tried to format cache. During this point, the recovery hanged and i force shutdown my phone again. After which, I could never turn on my phone again. No splash screen no nothing. I think it is bricked. And yea btw my usb port is not working anymore and it can only be used for charging. And i was running cm11 infected. Can you all please help me thanks!
so no recovery nor download mode?
Sadly, no

Yep i cannot even boot into anything no splash screen no nothing pressed the power button for like so long i even removed the battery for 2 hours and popped it back in not working
Try this - take out battery, then press and hold volume down+home+power and put battery back without releasing buttons. This may get you into a download mode where you can flash stock jb via odin.
Hello guys,
I've got a big problem with my I9300 and therefore I would like to ask here for any help. (If I'm in the wrong section, please move the thread to a correct one)
I had installed the Resurrection Remix ROM, v5.2.6. from 30.12.2014 and Googy-Max 2 recovery (CWM based) on my phone. I was using it for days and all worked fine.
One day I turned the phone off and I wanted to restart it. But it never restarted again; it ends up in a boot loop. It shows me the white Samsung Boot-Logo for some seconds, then a total black screen and the same thing repeats in a loop.
So I wanted to get into the recovery for wiping etc. but I couldn’t access the recovery. Nothing happens by pressing the relevant buttons. The device is still hanging in the boot loop. So I wanted to flash via Odin, but this isn't possible. I also can't go into the download mode. After pressing the relevant buttons, the green warning screen appears, which asks me if I really want to go to the download mode. But when I press volume up for "continue" or even if I don't press anything, the phone turns off and the boot loop with the white Samsung Logo starts again.
Therefore I ordered a USB JIG for forcing the device to go into download mode. When I plug the USB JIG in, the device actually goes into download mode but this status holds on only for a few seconds. After accessing download mode through the JIG, after a few seconds the phone turns off, restarts, (and because the JIG is still plugged in) the download mode appears again and it ends in a loop.
At first I thought maybe the power button is sticking and therefore the device turns on and off autonomous. But definitively I can negate it, because I opened the phone and removed the power button and nothing changed. Also by pressing the power button on the mainboard I can clearly hear the "click".
So I started a new attempt. Although the time, in which the device stays in download mode before turning off, is very short (only a few seconds), I tried flashing an other recovery, namely TWRP v2.8.3.0. So I prepared ODIN, plugged the JIG into the device, by appearing the download mode I switched cables and an other person clicked start at ODIN and it worked. So now TWRP is installed. Now I also can't get into recovery but after flashing TWRP there exist two little differences. First, after pressing the relevant buttons, TWRP appears for less than 1 second until the phone turns off. Secondly, when I plug the device in for charging, the Samsung charging logo appears for some seconds, then for less than 1 second appears a charging logo from Lollipop and the device ends up in a loop by displaying alternately the two different charging logos. Before flashing TWRP, the device booted in a boot loop (as I wrote above) by plugging it in for charging.
So the main question: how can I get my device work again
I tried telling you all details so that you have a better view of the problem.
Maybe I should flash a fully (stock) rom, but as I told you the download mode appears only for a few seconds. Flashing a recovery was possible, because the recovery file is very small - 7 MB. A full rom is much bigger and I think by flashing a complete rom, the device would turn off while Odin is flashing, therefore I ask first here for any assistance.
Thank you very much in advance!

Check and make sure that your volume buttons and home button are not stuck also. If they are not, I would suggest a visit to a repair shop as your EMMC chip might be weak already.

Your power button is failing, stuck in 'pressed' position. Try pressing repeatedly power button for several seconds, then release it completely. It shall bring it back to life. Visit your local service, or prepare tin, heat gun and soldering pistol. One button cost $0.2, they are selling them on eBay in sets of three (and 10, and 100....).
Happened to me some time ago, and video on youtube helped me to dismantle my phone, pull broken button out of it, and change it for new.
My phone was cycling like yours.

As said your emmc chip maybe failing.
The dead boot thread maybe of interest to you.

Thank you very much for helping! :good:
So the question is, whether it's the power button's or emmc's fault...
I did a little searching and found this video. I've got exactly the same problem like the guy. At 1:06 following the boot loop, at 1:34 following the problem with downlod mode.
Although he thinks it's caused to the sudden death problem, but at least in my case I think it's wrong because months ago I did the eMMC Brickbug Check.
Also I noticed a probably important detail. When I put the battery in the phone, it automatically turns on without pressing the power button like in 1:04-1:09 in the video. Which normal working phone turns itself on by simply putting in the battery...?
So it must get a command for turning on - (possibly through a defect power button?)
@Virnik0, do you remember, if you could hear the micro-switch clicking on your phone before replacing the button on the mainboard?

Your power button is faulty, replace it before you try fixing anything else.
Thank you very, very much for helping! :good: :good: :good:
Truly the power button was fault although you could hear clearly the "click".
I unsoldered and removed the power module and (by startig with JIG and rebooting via ADB) the phone works as it should. :victory:
Now I'm trying to solder a new power button......it's a bit tricky
Again, thank you very much guys!
I had the same problem, pressed the button many times, and it helped. Thank you for your suggestions
