Yeah, I know there are threads similar to this one, but I have not found the answer on those, so here is my own.
I was running StarBurst ROM and I decided to flash a faster Kernel, so I used one of Pershoot's Kernels, "AnyKernel" or something like that. Well, afterwards, I rebooted and the boot animation has been replaying over and over again. I can still access Recovery and Download Mode, so I'm wondering if somebody can help me out from there? I think I have learned my lesson, lol... Somebody please respond to this.
if your able to get into the recovery, do you have a backup that you can restore?

No... This is where I think I messed up... I hope there is another way of doing this.
I'm not too experienced in this area, so wait for more reply's before you do anything, but have you tried flashing the rom again?

Understood, thanks for replying though, much appreciated and I would have, but I'm not sure if I can get access to the device's storage through recovery or any other way with it being soft-bricked, I haven't saved the ROM file in storage either.
Have you tried deleting cache and data in recovery mode? try installing a stock rom (basically a stock kernel) and reflash the startburst ROM.
1)FLash via odin (refer first thread for available stock ROMS in developer section)
power+volume down key > right icon
OR
2)Via CWM recovery(accessing internal memory):
If clockworkmod recovery is intact (else flash via ODIn, link first thread developer section)
try adb commandline:
c,d,e:\wherever is adb.exe\adb push firmware.zip /sdcard/
than install the firmware.zip(first thread developer section) by choosing the appropriate option in CWM recovery!

Yes, I done that right after I realized I was bricked. & I would, but I do not know of a way to gain access to files via computer with my tablet being bricked, do you know of a way?
Sorry, did not see the rest of your post. Can you post that in simpler terms?
CORRECTION<easiest way>:
Download stock rom (search exactly for PDA_SIGNED_P7105.tar.md5)
Flash the ROM with ODIN (you probably know what odin is!)
>to flash with odin enter download mode in tab (power +volume down > left icon selected with left key and confirmed with right volume key)
HURRAY! now flash starburst as you did very first time.

I agree with Mug. if your familiar with adb this is the method i would try. You can push the 3.1 stock zip to your sd card and it will be there to flash with CWM.

Can you flash that .zip with Odin? I thought it was CWM only since its not a .tar
CORRECTED THE POST!i THOUGHT IT TO BE A ODIN FLASHABLE ROM

Okay, I mostly understand now. I know what Odin is, but I'm not sure how to flash the ROM through it. I'm looking at it now, where do I put this at? PIT, BOOTLOADER, PDA, PHONE, CSC? & What options do I check?
recheck the rom to be downloaded, its NOT the zip one mentioned before. Once you get the referred rom(PDA_SIGNED_P7105.tar.md5) in corrected post, put it in pda, default selections of odin and start flashing.

Sorry my friend. There is no Odin flashable stock rom file yet. I know for a fact a dev by the name of IronHide is working on one. He told me himself it will be ready in a few days.
Are you familiar with adb? Do you have the android sdk on your computer?
There are three stock odin flashables,
1)PDA_SIGNED_P7105.tar.md5
2)STOCK euro (uploaded by me)
3)STOCK arabic (uploaded by me again)
I assert the OP to search and flash the first one as its non touchwiz and native US retail version. The numerical error (7105 for 7510) was made by the original poster who posted the rom.

Rom manager is not fully functional on the SGSII. In particular, you can not use recovery through Rom Manager. To gain ClockworkMod Recovery, you must install a custom kernel containing CWM Recovery.
You can install a kernel with Odin3, Heimdall, adb, Android Terminal Emulator, or Mobile Odin Lite. If you use Odin3 or Heimdall, this will increment the flash counter. Adb, Terminal and Mobile Odin Lite will not increment the flash counter. If you need specific guidance, look at the FAQ in sticky section of the General forum, or follow the Guide linked in my signature. (I havn't added Mobile Odin Lite to the guide yet, but it's a pretty easy option. If you download it from Chainfires thread, it is free. If you get the pro version from the market there is a small charge.)
You can't boot into recovery through rommanager. You should do the three button boot (press power+volup/down) once you do that you will be able to flash roms without any issue.

You can't flash roms from stock 3e recovery, so unless there is a custom kernel installed on the phone you will not be able to flash roms.
I'll definitely cast a vote for Mobil Odin. I flashed Entropy 512's latest kernal through the Pro version, and it took less than 10 seconds!

Yes. I looked at his video again. The video is bad, very blurry, but it does look like he has ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.3 installed, not 3e recovery. So your directions would be good in that case.
BYW, I believe that stock 3e recovery is also blue text. It's been a while since I booted into 3e recovery though.

That's is correct. Though mobile odin lite is on xda for free. I used it to flash entropy512's newest kernel. Worked without an issue.
Just make sure you have the zImage already extracted and on your phone.

Download Mobile Odin Lite from Chainfires OP to your pc, move MobileODINLite-v1.25.apk into the same directory where you have adb.exe, and use adb to install it with:
Code:
adb install MobileODINLite-v1.25.apk
You do not need to try to install the add-on (flashkernel). You don't need it to flash a kernel, but you do need it if you want to flash a rom. When I tried it out this weekend, it would not download the flashkernel, so after I installed the kernel, I deleted Mobile Odin Lite.

Hello again. I haven't tried anything yet time is not permitting me to but I did install a custom kernel when I first rooted. This is the method I used if I haven't posted the link up yet. Its from zedomax on his you tube channel. I did it step by step. I was even able to make backups no problem.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-2Z2dKsuio&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Creep? I'm on my lunch break reading your other threads and what not... and I saw someone write press power / up and down buttons to get to cwm recovery ... but then I saw someone say release the power button when you see the yellow triangle.
So I did that and was in recovery 5.0.2.3 and attempted to flash cyanogen that I had stored in the phone...... the first attempt took two seconds so I remember on another post people had said to flash it again so I did. It took maybe 10 seconds this time.
I restarted.. and was joyed to see the cyanogen boot screen but was saddened to see it was caught in a boot loop. Would keep restarting and doing the bootup screen. Wouldn't pass that part so I had to do a restore .. any idea what I may be doing wrong..?
I attached a screen shot of my "about phone" thank u thank you everyone
I really can't help with installing CM7. I've never installed it myself.
From what I see, your were on stock with zedomax kernel and CWM 5.0.2.3, which as far as I know meets the requirements to be ready to flash CM7. Maybe someone with more experience can help you.

Hi I've want to flash TEAM PERFECTION'S ICS OBJECTION 6/1
Do I need to install CW Recovery First and can you provide the link please?
Can you provide me step by step guide also thanks.....
Can you also provide me step by step guide on ATT Reset Counter too please.
Thanks XDA Developers
Tell me which order I need to do first I'm coming from Official Stock of 2.3.6 of ATT Version LTE Model I717
Look through the development section. You'll have to root your phone first then get recovery.
Go to the stickied section of the general thread and there's a thread in there with what you need to know.
Next time search before making threads
Biggest Dog on the block, Note! ICED out
Sorry, but nobody is going to give you step by step, every single step. You need to read, as all of the info can be gathered in about 45 minutes tops.
I'll be nice, since I know others won't. Read up on the things in this list:
Download mode
Recovery mode
Flashing cwm recovery using odin
Nandroid backup
Rooting
Titanium backup your apps
Flashing the rom you want
And flashing back to stock using Odin.
It would take more time for somebody to look up every detail, link to the threads, and explain it for you than it will for you to read everything and learn it yourself...we all had to learn, and so do you. Each of those steps already have instructions, just search for them...learning it yourself and what each step in the process does will benefit you much more than a step by step guide. And DON'T, I repeat, DO NOT, do anything unless you are sure you can follow the steps...that's how mistakes are made and you end up with an expensive paperweight.
Hope I helped before this gets closed.
Edit: Did you even see the stickies in this section before you posted this? If you can't read that much, you better start... no offense, but you really need to before doing anything.

Ill give ya step by step, but it wont be detailed at all.
1.first of all download and flash CWM through odin.
2.Put superuser on ur sd card and flash that through CWM
3.Download desired rom, put on sd card.
4.Make a backup and wipe dalvik cache, and data.
5.Flash rom.
6.Download flash counter thingy and put on sd.
7. reboot and flash that via CWM.
uh the exact install instructions are in the second post of that thread. I will say that is one of the more complicated ROMs to flash since it involves flashing each release to get to the latest one BUT the steps are repetitive. I would suggest ALLOT of reading on how to root, flash CWM and return to stock BEFORE you attempt installing your first custom ROM. Gather all the tools and run them to at least see if they all work on your system and get comfortable getting your phone into download mode as well as recovery mode.
even then I would suggest another ROM for your first flash until you are more comfortable with all the steps and tools. FJs ROM is one of the better ones and so are those from The Collective. All of those only involve one flash each.
Until a week ago I never flashed an Android rom before, and I agree that many of the development rom instructions take very much for granted.
As a newbie, I found this post to be invaluable:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1586223
Also, take a look at some of the rooting and install videos to get an overall feel of how to do it.
But yes, even though some of the instructions are not the best, I don't think its reasonable for anyone to expect a high level of hand holding.

Non touch you would use your volume keys to move up and down among selections and power to select.
Touch version you can touch the screen and it'll work, such as scrolling and double tap to select

yes if you followed my guide and got odin installed, got root without increasing the flash counter from what I'm reading on your post, you can pick either touch or non touch clockworkmod recovery, there both just as stable , you can just follow the other guides on getting the CWM installed and then just flashed desired rom thru clockworkmod and you'll be set. Just remember that if you want clockworkmod recovery but you're worried about your flash counter, you should use my guide on getting cwm installed thru adb but if you have no knowledge in adb(android debug bridge) then is up to you if you want to side step and learn adb before continuing with rom flashing, if you don't care about the flash counter or want to flash the counter wipe, then flash CWM thru odin and then flash roms thru CWM.

If you start off using any custom ROM, especially the AOKP, I do suggest you spend time read more, follow that thread (the link you provided), the more you read the more you save time and avoid headache down the road. One example that Phalanx just pointed out, it isn't listed anywhere but from reading and following that thread.
1. Make sure your device is i777, if anything other than that, stop.
2. Make sure you have the CwM Recovery installed. Do get along with the buttons such what home button does, what power button does. It depends on the CwMR version.
3. Follow the instruction of the ROM for installation.
4. Good luck and enjoy.
I have cwm installed, and I select the option in the app to reboot into recovery. it reboots, and goes into recovery mode. the only problem is, is that it is the android system recovery. I do not see an option for backup there.

I will help you get this working, I have some questions tho to get you the right info when you see this respond back just don't do anything till
I help you.... I would rather help you then have you brick your phone but of course do whatever you want.... You can DL and install these 2 files just like any other apk install MobileODINLite first then FlashKernel I777 of course you will need to be rooted, this wont change anything on your phone it will just install the app to get you ready to flash the zImage... The next step is KEY as to what you're running now.... That's where I have questions...
https://www.dropbox.com/s/xxf4c4tvevh1gnx/MobileODINLite-v3.25.apk Here is a link to the latest release from my dropbox.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/5q4b5tkmxsdx0e1/Mobile ODIN FlashKernel I777.apk FlashKernel I777
EDIT I will be around here for about 3 hours it's 6:40am now on the west coast after that it will be like 10 hours...
got it. why does odin need my location?
also, it says that odin required an add-on to be able to flash firmwares on the device (i think i just figured it out... was that the second thing i installed?).
thanks for your help! i appreciate it.

I'm not sure why the location permission BUT it is built by 1 of the best devs on here ChainFire nothing to worrie about....
the second file was the add-on, when you load mobile odin is it saying you need to install the add-on? Now you need to flash the zImage to get CWM if you haven't already....What firmware are you on now? I feel dumb telling to flash the 2nd file you only need the Odin lite to flash the zImage (kernel) to get CWM once you flash a new ROM in CWM you will lose all the data anyways... Now that you have um back them up and save them so when you flash a new ROM you can reinstall both of them!! Always good to have IMO...

I have installed both apks. zimage has to do with the bootup, right? where do i get that file? would the firmware be i777ucle5?
@sniper8752,
You seem to be flailing around in the dark. You really need to not only read, but also see how things fit together. Just a friendly warning, if you don't know what a zImage is, or why you are flashing it, or which zImage to use, you still need to do some more reading and get a better overall picture before you continue with flashing JellyBean.
The zImage is the kernel. (Don't forget to capitalize the I as linux is case sensitive.) I am assuming you are rooted but do not have ClockworkMod Recovery installed yet. You need to install a custom kernel that matches your system. That means flash a Gingerbread kernel if you currently have a Gingerbread system, or an ICS kernel if you currently have an ICS system. The various options for the kernels are available in the development section. To use a zImage with mobile odin, you must extract the zImage from the .zip file (or sometimes .tar) that the developer makes available. Mobile odin can actually pull the kernel from a tar file, but it will not recognize a zip file.

I have decided on flashing this rom: http://ultimatum.us/. looks like it will take about an hour to download... i currently have ics installed. to flash the zImage, do I click on "Kernel" in the app.?
thanks for help and explaining the zImage. what would be the best way to learn all of this? is there a good site so I don't have to go looking around everywhere? maybe like a beginner's guide?

What app? There is no app...
ClockWorkMod Recovery (CWM) yes, app NO.
EDIT: Just realized you may be talking about mobile Odin our three cwm app. Don't use either at this print, much easier using CWM (reboot into recovery of you've got a custom ROM/kernel)

I have been trying all day to root this bad boy. After finding nothing but broken link after broken link I finally found <cm-10.1-20121229-UNOFFICIAL-p4wifi.zip> and <cm10.1-20130116-UNOFFICIAL-p4wifi.zip> I am stuck at this point because I don't know which to use and well, quite frankly im a noob. ive watched a couple videos and even talked to a guy who rooted his but, i'm unsure about where to put this friggin file. some people say to have my tab in usb debug mode while others say to the contrary. some say to put my tab into odin3 while others say to have it in recovery mode but the one consistency is that they all say that its simple and "noob proof". Well with all the contradictory methods i've researched the one thing ive concluded is that for a noob it really aint that easy to sort through everything ive found and realize what the hell to do. I really don't wanna brick this frigger so this if anything is a desperate cry for help.
Long story short, I have the files which one do I use and what do I do with it?
Sincerely, Nooby McFirsttimerson

There's nothing hard about rooting if you want to flash a custom ROM on your tab, 99.9% of the developers pre-root their ROM's so you dont even have to root it, so did pershoot.
Step 1: You start from zero: you have a gt-p7510 STOCK ROM on android 4.0.4, if not, flash the ics bootloader from droidbasement.com via odin in PDA slot.
Step 2: go to droidbasement.com, and it depends which android version you want to flash, 4.0.4, 4.1.1, or 4.2.2, let's say you want do flash android 4.2.2, download clockworkmod recovery 6.0.3.4, flash it via odin in PDA slot and reboot your device.
Step 3: once you have cwm 6.0.3.4 flashed, connect your tablet to your pc and get the latest nightly version, YOU DON'T WANT TO USE EXPERIMENTAL BUILTS!! Since they were only ment for pure development and they could be very unstable. Download the latest version here http://get.cm/?device=p4wifi here and copy the file over from your computer to your device. DO NOT FORGET!
Step 4: reboot your device into recovery and do a factory reset, go to your 0 folder in recovery and flash the latest nightly built. ( a factory reset via cwm will not delete data on your SDcard
Step 5: reboot your device again when it's done and wait up to 10 minutes.
And last but not least step 6: enjoy!!

In Odin, there is a PDA button. Click it and select your file.

Get your tablet in download mode, it's the same way as you go to recovery, but then the other image on the right side, your tab will warn you that flashing other software may cause problems on your tab and blabla, just ignore that and push yes. Connect your tab to your pc and open odin, while it's connected, your pc will look for a driver i think. Once odin is opened, select PDA slot and search for the recovery safed on your computer, then hit the square box and make sure the box in front of'PDA SLOT' is check with a 'V', now it will flash cwm on your tablet
So i have to have odin on my pc?

Why do people always feel they have to run to customs roms? To me that is like saying to somebody who asks how to change a wheel on a car that first they have to remove the engine and put in a supercharged version instead with all the added unreliability that goes with it.... Custom roms are great but sometimes when answering a question the sledgehammer to crack a walnut approach is not the best..... if you are happy with stock rom to start with try rooting that first then if you want to go further try the custom approach
If you just want to root a stock firmware then all you have to do is install clockwork recovery using odin and flash a root zip through recovery.....
Root file is here for you and if you go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44527963#post44527963 there is a good version of odin for your tab and drivers (if you haven't already installed them ) that I recently posted
As long as you are sure it is 7510 you have then recovery for pushing through odin is attached as well
I cant have root permissions after flashing CM 10.2 (I accidentally did full sd card data wipe with twrp 2.6.0.0 before) , now none of apps that request root works..I tried to flash older superuser.zip files but that didnt work (when trying to flash superUS v1.50 zip it always writes ''failed')'. Any solution to that?
Try installing SuperSu from play store, see if that works otherwise if that doesn't work go to android development stickies for this forum' download root.zip and try to root again through recovery

Ok.. being as you're new to this.. I advise you to watch QBKing's video on rooting this device, really any of his rooting vids will show you how to install odin/drivers and then to Odin the custom recovery...
If you feel unsure after watching the video or have any questions... just hit me back and I can walk ya through it..
Don't be worried if I don't see you're reply right away.. I'm on my way home from vaction and my service is less than spotty.. ( thanks sprint )
The video was enlightening to say the least. However the thread at ac syndicate is now closed. Sooooo im wondering if there is anywhere else i can find the necessary files

Glad it worked ! :good:
If anybody else needs the files to root or a link to qbking77 video....look at my FAQ thread....everything needed to root is there, minus the Sammy drivers( you can get them when you plug you're tab into the PC )...
Also...do yourself a favor and as soon as you root...go put infamous twrp recovery on the device..I have flashed every single ROM I've put on my device through this recovery...no problems yet...Lol.
