[DEV] Rooting Xperia U/P/Sola (locked bootloader) - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

I decided to start this thread because I think that we will never get root, because I bed that sony will fix security hole before it gives ICS to us,because same happened to Xperia X8 when Xperia X10 mini pro got update to eclair it could be rooted but for X8 with got one week later it couldnt. So think about it.
Anyway lets start.
We know few things that on SDCard we have recovery folder
And in system/xbin/ is watchdog with blocks any moving files to this directory or maybe whole system.
Smart idea will be to get oldest firmware and start tring on it some basic root method to see what we will get but there is no oldest firmware on internet so we have one way to get it.
UPDATE -----------------------------------------------
It looks that .564 is oldest firmware but if anyone have prototype, and could upload ftf file it would be good.
If you know something that can help us please report.
-----------------------------------------------
I done some progress in hope to root phone and it looks that zergrush work but adb fails to run in su mode.
-----------------------------------------------
Thanks for help,XperianPro

So... do you need firmware .564?

So, you know how to root it or you just guess how to do it..?!
P.S. Wasnt it mentioned somewhear that hwen we got ICS it would be rooted or it would be possible to root....

Theres older firmware than .564 and i dont know how to root it.

I think he started this to join heads and try to get somewere. For ics e didn´t that we could do root, but that sony MIGHT block the security breach that enable that root.
We need to read things slowly...

I trust that debugfs will solve our problem when we get ICS.

Can someone who has free time and have xperia u pm me

EDIT: oh nvm

what about testpoint and those debug ports on the phone? maybe we can use them to acess the system?
i saw some metalic contacts on the zone of the removable cap, is it any kind of service/debug port?

I think is antena module
Sent from my ST25i using xda app-developers app

hum maybe you're right.. i don't see Sony putting debug ports so accessible, so yes...

There are actually 3 test points where the exchangeable cap is.
What are they used for? No idea.

Xperia Mini Pro SK17i Update mystery
Xperia Mini Pro SK17i update is mystery, i update my Xperia Mini Pro to 4.0.4 ICS and i experienced certain inconsistencies, after searching for hours it found that i should repair my update and after that do factory default, i did that and it made my phone much better. Now everything is fine accept one think that making me hate my phone, it's battery backup which is very ugly. It hardly goes one day in mostly standby mode.
If anyone else like me is frustrated with only battery issue or know how to fix it than please reply...

hi guys,
I am quite a noob, and trying to figure this xperia thing, after at last I managed to nicely root and flash my htc.
But it seems on xperia it is all working different. What I need, is generally to delete bloatware, to do so I need root.
But to get root I need to flash a ROM first? In htc it's rooting so that you can flash roms. It all gets me confused.
Is there a way then to root without any weird downgroading/flashing roms?
Agnes
If you are on gingerbread you can root it on older Firmware than .62/.69, otherwise you must downgrade and upgrade again. Just Check out my signature

If you want to remove bloatware apps it's easier to remove them from the zip package before you flash the rom.
Open the the rom using 7zip or similar program (open archive NOT extract it).
Then go into the system folder and there is an app folder (system/app).
The app folder contains pretty much most the app's that are on your rom.
Just go through them and delete the app's you don't want, there are plenty of lists around of safe apps to delete/remove, there are some on here and if you google you will find more.

I have an Xperia S with ICS installed
I was wondering if flashing the 4.0.3 kernel from the Lt18 (pretty sure that firmware has rooting abilities)
onto the Xperia S
then Root
then Flash the Xperia S kernel back could possibly work?
I was going to give it a try earlier today but thought it would be best to ask if they're is any risk of perma-bricking the phone and unable to reflash before I did

You cant, on locked bootloader.
You can flash an Lt18 kernel on a Lt15 with flashtools maybe it might work
I'll give it a try
I'm sure I can flash back if it doesn't
well I hope so

[ROM] Xperia U (ST25i)_GB 2.3.7 Build 6.0.B.3.184 (Stock Indian firmware)

Hallo everyone. I just created a ftf from update files downloaded by SUS. This is the stock Indian GB 2.3.7 ROM (Build 6.0.B.3.184) from sony. I created this to keep a GB rom backup ready before upgrading to ICS, just in case I feel like going back
Thought I would share it with everyone in case someone needed it.
It was confirmed to be ok and working.

I am unable to re-flash as the flashtool is not recognising the phone in flashmode (holding volume down button) and plugging USB Cable.

I'm from the Philippines I flash this stock kernel, my question is when every time I send a message to my friend my number has additional number, ex. Our country code is +63 then followed by a ten digit number, like +639104884645 but when I flash this Rom my number has this additional number like this 28146390104884645 it has additional 4 digit number.

Flash official ics via flashtool,
It will not void your warrnty!
Sent from my ST25i using xda premium
well...i have a lot of friends with XU, most of them have upgrade to ics and few of them not. And for what it's worth the phones with GB it's surely faster, sony ics for XU it's kinda a half way between performance and ics style. You have to do by your usage, if u need a phone stable and fast don't upgrade, if u wanna ics style and functions... well you may upgrade...
If u upgrade by PC companion or SEUS or flashtool, it's possible revert only with Flashtool. But i dunno if you are going to avoid warranty!
On the PC companion you can make backup of your datas not of the firmware.
So, official ics is crappy compared to custom roms? Or is it crappy on it's own?
I've just flashed the current B.100 firmware about 2 hours ago..
So far I like it, its snappy and crisp.
I've read about others having problems with GPS, but I don't use it so its not an issue for me.

I had an idea: root, install cwm, make nandroid backup, try ics..
In case I don't like it: install cwm on ics, restore gb backup, unroot..
With this method I'll keep all the bloatware (intentionally) and get my warranty back!
Is it possible to do that?

My problem is that I had a Xperia x8 with not-unlockable bootloader running GB (GingerDX) and many apps that I wanted to use were for ICS+ .. I want a later OS version because of compatibility!
So I have to upgrade to official ICS and keep warrant or root and use a custom rom..
Maybe I'll sacrifice my warranty.. I think it's not too risky since I'm used to flash roms
