What modem are you using for ATT on the international version - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I live in Chicago and I have been having horrible connectivity with ATT. My signal strength keeps fluctuating for voice and my data keep dropping on 3G and H. I think I would like to try a different modem for my model. I am currently running
PDA:LG8/PHONE:LG8/CSC:LG8 BTU
I would love to know what other firmware or CSC versions people are running that are having good luck with ATT.

try downgrade to KF1 or KG1 or even Upgrade to KG3 modem....
I flashed the full XXKG2 firmware, including modem, etc.
I have no problems with my signal. You shouldn't list it as a 850Mhz band modem, as all modems for the SGS2 should have all bands, because GT-i9100 and GT-9100m are the same phone.
XXKG2 modem does not remove the 850Mhz band frequency, as I can still get a signal if I select my phone to only use the 850Mhz band.
The bell firmware, and all subsections of it have not been released yet, so you can't go back exactly to stock again.
I am on kg3 now and everything works fine it was just the stock bell firmware always shows H+ and villianrom just shows h+ when data is passing for more then 10 seconds or so.

It depends if ur network provider has enabled the HSPA+ function on the carriers of the site u pick ur signal from.
It's less of an "enabled" thing than a "upgraded". Antennas and their corresponding wiring, backup power, transmitters, ... are extremly expensive and thus providers only upgrade the areas where they need the capacity. You still should be able to top several Mbit/s in good reception areas on HSPA (unless the antenna is overcrowded)

Do you get H+ in the same location before you update? It can be a carrier issue or modem issue. You can use different modem to try if which modem suits you. Here's the link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1740061

GT-i9100 network trouble!!

My brand new GT-i9100 is barely usable. I've spent the last week wrestling with it (bought it new from ebay) to get it to work, but I'm at my wit's end. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here's the problem:
My Galaxy S 2 (now rooted and currently running SlimRom) partially or completely loses cellular signal about 60% of the time, often in places where I know there is reception. I'm using Telus' network in Canada. It will lose data, lose ability to make or receive calls, and fail to send text messages. The indication of signal loss is not clear, IE it will say "emergency calls only", "no service available", or even say I have service but I really don't. However the cutting out seems to occur consistently depending on where I am located. For example I seem to get OK signal at my house, but zero at my friend's house. I know it's not the network in this case, since my friend is also on Telus and they get fine reception. I've done some testing and here are some possible causes that I can think of:
network cold spot - No, see example above. It also cuts out in urban populated areas where the signal is strong
phone compatibility - unlikely, since Bell offered the i9100M, which I'm led to believe is physically identical to the normal i9100, and Bell and Telus operate over the same frequencies. Also when it does get signal it can transmit data fine
SIM card - No. The first thing I did when I discovered this problem was get a new SIM card. Nothing changed
SlimRom - No. The phone was acting like this out of the box with the stock image.
Radio firmware - Unlikely. I've flashed at least 6 different firmwares, including KG6, KH3, LQ6, LP6, KI4, and even LD3, which I believe is the firmware the Canadian i9100-M ships with, so would logically work fine. The carrier for that was Bell, and I believe Bell and Telus operate on the same frequencies
a hardware defect in the design of the phone or the antenna itself - the last possible option I can think of. I hope it's not this, because then I would have to undo all the modifications I've done in an attempt to fix my phone, and pray the seller accepts the return
Please, if anyone could offer any assistance that would be great.

Well.. I think you got one of the Korean ones.. There is someone in China or Korea, or who knows maybe Samsung who is taking the SHW-M250S, a horrid Korean version of the S2 and changing the housing and software to make them look as the GT-I9100. Even the back labels say GT-I9100 and the software itself.. however, you can tell them apart because they are way lighter and very flimsy and also because the SIM Card tray is different from the one on the original GT-I9100.
So, I know it's very late but the problem is not you, is the phone. It might look brand new, but it is not compatible with networks in the US and many countries as Korea seems to use a different network standard. I was not able to get any data working on this model when I was in the Dominican Republic. I recently got a few of them in a lot of devices I bought for resale after I moved to the US and I couldn't get any of the 14 phones I got to connect to cellular. I decided to strip them off for parts.

No Signal!

I am running @epicboy 's CM11 build. I am in Ghana, west Africa and we don't have T-mobile here. The device is unlocked but interestingly, only one mobile network here works with the phone. And even that only gives me an edge connection. Is there some kind of modem I can flash ? Or is der a hardware fix I can try? Thanks
That depends on the band of the network you're trying to use and the bands that the phone has. The network I use here in Jamaica only only gives me edge but the other network allows me to use 3g because they support the 3g band that the vibrant has. There isn't anthing you can do about it to my knowledge and even if you can do something (I think) it won't be much or make a huge difference.

Signal/Reception is appaling

Just picked up an upgrade to my business account on EE in the UK - and had the S6 Edge.
The signal strength is appalling to say the least - outside the house where I did get 4G (1 bar but useable) I now get 3G (although not full bars), in the fast food joint we use regular I used to get 4G but now 3G but mainly 2G. There are plenty of other threads on this but non that recent.
Although the phone is branded to EE I have flashed 5.1.1 (so from EVR to BTU) as it was on 5.0.2 and no sign of the official EE 5.1.1 been released as yet.
Is the signal strength issue likely to be a SW fix via a new update or is the consensus that its due to the build/design of the phone?

I'm not happy with the reception for LTE on Sprint in Chicago.

I wouldn't say I'm appalled by the signal quality but it is worse than some others when placed side by side.
