[Q] X10a with Custom ROM works with Tmobile 3G?

Hi guys,
I'm currently an AT&T customer who's thinking to switch to Tmobile's
$30/month for Unlimited text&web plan
After googled some articles regarding AT&T X10a and the Tmobile(USA) 3G
I'm still not really clear about some key facts.
Please allow me to explain my situation now:
Origin: I bought it from AT&T store
Unlocked? YES
Model: X10a (I found this on the sticker located on the back of my phone)
********************************************************
But I flashed to different baseband and ROM
Info. I found in the "About Phone"
Model number: X10i
Android version: 2.3.3
Baseband version: 2.1.71
Kerel version:2.6.29-00054-g5f01537
[email protected]#1
ROM: Wolf_Xperia_6.0.0s (Android 2.3)
I found a thread and somebody mentioned about:
"The AT&T XPERIA X10A supports the 850HMz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 1900MHz, and 2100HMz bands. So since the phone doesn't support the needed 1700MHz band, the phone will be stuck with 2G speed on the T-Mobile network if you continue using the Sony Ericsson generic world 2.1 (for X10A) firmware."
Currently, I am using AT&T SIM card and data plan as well, and I have NO problem getting "H" at most of the time and sometimes "3G"
Q1: Is that means my phone is STILL X10a but not X10i which was shown
in the "About Phone"?
Q2: I will NOT get Tmobile HSPA/3G working on my phone, unless I get a X10i?
or I can flash it and/or de-brand it?
This question might be asked somewhere, but my case is a bit different,
since I am using different baseband and ROM from stock.
If anyone had same experience and/or you already knew the answer,
please help me out
Thanks in advance
James
X10a will remain x10a even though it shows x10i. For the 3g I am pretty sure T-Mobile is 1900Mhz for gsm? Correct me if I am wrong
Sent from my Xperia X10 using XDA App
Thanks, that helps a lot.
btw I knew that T-mobile uses 1700/2100 for its HSPA

Yes, like jailbroken iphones, an X10a will only receive at about 119kbps (edge) when connected to T-Mobile network.

Need Help Regarding neo software

Hello friends,
i am new to android world i buy used xperia neo back in jan 2012 when i check on its model number through android software it says mt15a
But when i remove the battery under that mt15i is written
and i am also not able to recieve OTA update it always fails also pc companion and update service are saying you have latest software
i wana know is it possible that previous owner put custom mt15a software on mt15i
also please tell me how i know that my phone is bootloader unlocked or locked ??
i wanted to update my phone to ICS how i do that i am right now on android 2.3.3 ( sorry for my poor english please help me guys )
The differences between the MT15i and MT15a are the 3G bands, MT15i is 3G 900/2100 and MT15a works in 3G 850/1900/2100. MT15a is the american version and MT15i is the international version.
It is possible to flash any firmware in any neo. I have flashed MT15i firmware in my MT15a and works fine.
You can check your device working bands by entering to the service menu *#*#7378423#*#* then select service info and then Configuration. This will also tell you if the phone bootloader is rooted or not.
You can flash your device back with a MT15i firmware using a tool called FlashTool, look in the forum for the instructions on how to use it and the different topics where you can find the links to download the MT15i firmware.
It is not possible to update from Android 2.3 to ICS via OTA.
hello when i tried it says working band/s:
gsm850, gsm900, 1800, 1900, umts_bc1, umts_bc8
Rooting status:
bootloader unlock allowed: yes
and in the model info it is saying mt15a but on the backcover under battery sticker info says mt15i
Please help me guys also tell me if i try to flash my device do i face 0% battery problem ??
And if you can give me any flashing link plz also help me in this thanks in advance
Also wanna ask can i simply repair my phone from Su service software??

Hi,
Your Phone's Bootloader is locked.
So in order to update your phone to latest ICS 4.0.4, first please install Flashtool to your computer from here
Now download the latest ICS 4.0.4 FTF file from here
After that, just follow the instructions on how to flash the FTF file. The instructions are provided here
****Before flashing, on the right hand side of the Flashtool, you will have "No Final Verification Check", make sure this option is Checked
If you face any issue, please feel free to ask
Hi aamir098,
Your phone is definitively a MT15i because of the UMTS bands, UMTS 1 is 2100 and UMTS 8 is 800. The MT15a uses UMTS bands 1, 2 and 5.
You can also try flashing your phone using SEUS:
http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/update-service/
Or your you can use the FlashTool method.
There is a third option called WotanServer but this method is not free and they will charge you 1.99 € - http://www.wotanserver.com/en
Need help with mt15a 3g
Hello, I have a xperia neo mt15a, which 3g works on 1900, my phone is rooted, its bootloader is unlocked and I want to upgrade it to ICS, but, I can find only mt15i versions as far as I can see, my question is: if I flash one of these versions, would i loose my 3g capability?, and if so, is there anyway to take it back? I would appreciate your answer, thanks

[TIP] ++ Brazilian users VIVO operator

n some tests with both basebands (72 and 77) in my WT19i in Brazil, I realized that for anyone who uses the operator VIVO GSM (850Mhz) 77 fails to baseband reception signal loss and causing loss of battery.
Already a .72 baseband functions normally without signal loss saving a bit of battery.
I use the newest rom Legacy Xperia 4.2.2 from Mike's
Hope this helps!
