[HELP] No touchscreen - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
After following this tutorial
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134057
my touchscreen stopped working and my USB debugging is disabled. I have no recovery app, like CWM.
I need help to restore my system or to enable the USB debugging without using the touchscreen, so I can fix the problem.
Please guys, I'm desperate and I don't know what to do
Thanks

With no usable recovery and no USB debugging enabled... You're in a really difficult situation here.
The only thing I can think of is, you can try reflashing the original stock firmware using the official methods. Never done this nor do I intend to so I have no pointers for you there, sorry. You might also lose your data, not sure. But hey, at least you should have a functioning phone again!
Perhaps the local experts here will come up with something else, so stay tuned.

You will probably have to fastboot a new rom. But first you will have to unlock your bootloader. See the guides at the top of the General section.

Well my noobish suggestion is start by fast boot flashing a current recovery. Then flash the zip file in your linked thread, and you should be up and running.

I've just used this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163342
Now my phone doesn't boot:
"Failed to boot 4
Starting RSD mode"
Aparently, I can't use Fastboot anymore.
Is there a way to recover it using RSD Mode?

Is your bootloader unlocked?

Yes, it is.
But now I'm stuck at RSD Mode in the "Boot failed" screen

Relax, you've got a soft brick. You can recover.
Carefully follow the instructions on the link below (this worked for me). Keep in mind that your soft brick can turn in to a hard brick, so do this at your own risk. Flashing sbf files is risky, but at this point you don't have much of a choice.

Edit:
Good luck!

I was doing what you said, but now I've got another problem: The battery doesn't charge.
In the wall charger, it freeze in the boot screen. In the USB, I just get a green light.
Does anybody know a solution for this battery issue?

First off, did you successfully recover from your soft brick?

you could just use the lapdock and fix the problem from start..

take out your battery, plug into the wall charger to force it into charge mode. place your battery in the phone.
if this doesn't work, you'll have to destroy a USB cable and charge it manually.

How do you do that?

Essentially its making a factory cable of sorts, I believe. Taking the + and - of the cable and directly touching to those terminals also of the battery while in the phone and force charging. I could be wrong, but that's what I understand of it.

That sounds like something I hope I never have to do.

dudsmat, how did it go?

Desktop chargers are cheap....no need to destroy a cable.

Today I'll use a universal charger and then do the RSD process you told me.
I hope it works.
Thank you upndwn4par and all of you guys so far.

Well, I've got another problem.
My battery is ruined and stuffed. I'll have to buy a new one.

You are really having a bad week. Sorry to hear it!

( Q ) 100% bricked vibrant

My phone is 100% bricked, I was flashing blitzkrieg bootloader to flash his ROM and something went wrong.
Now my phone wont turn on, wont nothing. . .
So the Question is: has anyone went out of this? I now the jig method, but I searched and didnt find anything.
eif you borked the bootloader there is a good chance there isnt much you can do besides a jtag reset, now a jig wouldnt hurt to try but i wouldln't count on it working. i personally will always stay away from bootloaders until i get my own jtag rig.
Goodluck bro hopefully the jig works.
if the vibrant is originally yours you could make a warranty claim with samsung stating you were attempting to flash 2.2 through keis and your phone wont work now, otherwise like said jig maybe, Jtag almost assuredly, will fix your phone.
If you are actually considering a JTAGing, search in the forum for connexion2005. He have lots of experience doing it and have a website and everything.
Its sad, but you remembered me why i shouldn't mess with the bootloader. Goodluck with your phone bro...
What happened during the bootloader flash? I just flashed the GB bootloader and the whole process was over in less than 10 seconds, not much room for error..

I couldn't agree more with everything in this post. Nice community situation here
- The Samsung Kies killed my phone excuse has gotta be the ultimate life saver, but over time I'm starting to agree with others that it's probably not something I should endorse. As I root more and more of my friends devices I'm starting to find that 1) I hate them. and 2) NOBODY will read an OP all the way through!

I wholly agree with you that this method is something that should be avoided if at all possible, however I know jtag services can be hard to find as well as sometimes quite costly.
@op let us know how it all turns out for you

Your battery probably died.
You dont have to flash a pit with it because it uses the phones native pit when flashing the bootloader.
Also, the OP for the gb Bootloader states that it CHANGES the key mapping. volume up and power gets you dl mode. Try that before jtag. I had this problem trying to flash the rom because i couldnt figure out recovery. Turns out I didn't read it right. I read it through, just didn't interpret it correctly.

Great news and nice tip from the OP. However, if that tip works, you were not fully hard bricked...
Ok, last update: I got it repaired!
JTAG was the only solution for this.
My phone was:

NO REACTIONS AT ALL
NO BATTERY CHARGING IMAGE
NO NOTHING!!! JUST A TOTAL BRICK.

I faced the same issue when my phone got bricked.
1. odin back to jfd
2. GB bootloader installed.
3. updated to 2.2 froyo via kies...
after that the phone never turned onn...BRICKED...
sending it to connection2005 for JTAG...
hope that resolves the issue.

It's not the most correct thing to do (actually, not at all, it was your friend's fault entirely, also voiding the warranty), but your friend can tell them that the device began to heat while charging, he unpluged it and it died, sometimes it happens...
As for the JTAG you asked on the other post, it's a physical connector inside the cellphone used to write the flash memory, it involves opening the device, pinning some terminals and programming via PC, it's pretty common on embedded devices to load the program for the first time.
There is still a chance to get the phone back to its senses!
you will need 2 people to do this
read all 5 steps then only proceed!
1. Remove the battery.
2.Start odin in your pc.
3.connect the mobile to the pc using cable.
4.keep pressing the keys required to get in download mode. i.e. power+home+volume down key.
5.ask someone else to put the battery in your phone keeping the keys pressed!.
if every thing goes right Odin will detect the phone Flash it with a good rom you know which works! and never take out the cell from odin when its being flashed until odin says Success!

[Q] Might have hard bricked my phone

So I was trying to root new Galaxy s2.. long story short, I think I hard bricked it.
The device won't power up; or at least the screen won't show anything.
I can't get to Download Mode.
Is there anyway I can save my new 400 dollar investment?
How are you trying to get into download mode ? Hold the volume down, home button and the power button at the same time. When you get the Samsung screen, release the power button but keep holding the volume down/home buttons until you get into download mode.
If you really can't get into download mode your options are:-
1) Get a jig. This would be your last chance to get into download mode before sending it off for repair.
2) Find someone near you who does JTAG repairs. This option will be cheaper than paying for Samsung to repair your phone.
3) Return the phone to Samsung. As you've tried to root the phone, there's a fair chance you'll end up paying for said repair as this voids your warranty. On the other hand you might be one of those people who get lucky and Samsung fixes your phone under warranty regardless. A roll of the dice essentially.
Edit - Remove your battery & leave it out for a minute or so before trying to get into download mode.
Or failing options 1 & 2 already suggested then perhaps option 2a..
Apply a current to the sim connectors under the battery and make sure it never evers boots again, Samsung won't know what's happened to it and will repair/replace FOC.
(I find an old laptop PSU minus connector plug usually applies enough current for this)
Hehehehe ;-) Damn that brought back memories Uridium. I used to do that with Sega Mega Drive cartridges. However, I'm not sure we should be suggesting same on here. Not exactly ethical and bordering on fraud tbh

Looking at JIGS on Ebay, I'll probably get one from there.
So how would I use that?
Plug it in to get to Download Mode then take it out and plug in USB connection to my PC?
I'm still unaware of which correct firmware to put it, so this is so scary :[

Haha I will try the JIG method first.
But thanks for the devious idea ;]
Yep. Look for "Samsung Galaxy S2 download mode jig" or something like that on eBay. Shouldn't be more than a few bucks. When you get it, make sure the phone is off, plug the jig in the usb port & if you're lucky the phone will boot into download mode. Yeah, once you're in download mode, remove the jig, plug a USB cable in/connect to your PC then flash your firmware of choice via Odin.
We can worry about which firmware to flash once you're able to get it to boot with a jig tho. Post back here when you get it & then we can work out which firmware to go with.

Thanks for your help! The JIG should arrive by Friday. Till then.. back to my iPhone 3G, yuck.
Hey I have an idea, why don't you tell us how you think you bricked your phone.
Because, for example, if you've flashed a bad Kernel then your phone may seem bricked (it has all the characteristics) but can be recovered by someone who knows what to do. Likewise, if you were flashing something with Odin and you had a sudden spasm attack and pulled the USB out, you've bricked your phone. Tell us what you did and we can give a proper reply.
EDIT: If the phone is only soft bricked and you can get into DL mode with a JIG, you go can it without one.

Well, first I was using odin to root it by changing the kernel. But I think I was using the wrong version and then I got "firmware is wrong. Please select recovery mode in kies and try again."
Then I tried to put back 2.3.4 and that's where I think went wrong. I unplugged the phone because it was just stuck with Odin on for over 10 minutes.
Then now I can't even turn it on.

If Odin hadn't finished its business and you unplugged your phone then yea, you've probably bricked it. Cases like these is why I never use Odin, its beta software which even the developers don't fully understand how it works. Even if through no fault of your own, Odin can fail, and that leaves you pretty well ****ed. Try the JIG, you may have unplugged it when it wasn't flashing something important, but yea, I'd start making up a really good excuse to get a new phone.

Well it might be possible to Unbrick your phone without Jig, but solution has not worked for 100% user, though it has worked for me(I'm not sure it was hard brick). So here are the steps:
1- Start Odin
2- Attach the USB cable to the PC (DO NOT ATTACH IT TO THE PHONE)
3- Press and hold "Volume up" and "home" buttons
4- Attach the USB cable to the phone while holding both buttons
5- The phone will enter in download mode
Just flash the stock kernel after that.
And don't forget to THANK me if it works

quick tip, always have a good charge when flashing 70% or better. flashing for me can sometimes use a lot of juice, especially when you are low.
were you trying to charge battery through USB or wall? try wall or maybe different USB port.
if you get power, can you get download mode? hold volume down & power and plugin USB
if you have download mode, your good.
ROM was for your phone and carrier right? just had to ask, you wouldn't be first

Don't use usb power. Use the wall charger and the factory charging cable. Give it four hours, then try again. You're not bricked.

Glad you're not bricked! I was bricked a few months ago, yes the real hard brick paper weight dead no response brick, not what these other post about having bricked their phone. I downloaded and installed a Liquid smooth jelly rom, but the post linked to a s3 build.
As soon as my phone didnt turn I feared the worst. Confirmed and yes it was gone. I had to send it off to get J-tagged. It worked!
Cost me a pretty penny. Then the thread mod was like oops! I linked the wrong rom hope nobody installed and got brick, just fixed it.
Ain't that some ****!

Read up my friend. It is all in the general section Super Everything, The All in one stock thread, and finally here. You are not unrooting insomuch as just flashing stock. Once you flash stock, that overwrites/deletes twrp/cwm and supersu.
Yes, as ^^^^ mentioned, you don't have to be concerned about unrooting.
There are debloated and bloated versions of stock Canadian roms in the development section. Another source for stock/carrier roms is www.samfirmware.com but you have to flash those with a pc using Odin software.

How can I UNBRICK a HARD-BRICKED OPX? Help needed urgently

I followed the instructions provided at the MEGA UNBRICK something thread situated here http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-x/general/guide-mega-unbrick-guide-hard-bricked-t3272108/
Anyway, when I hold the volume-up button for 10 seconds, followed by plugging the Onyx with the PC, the system does't detect the device. What can I do now? And is there any alternative method to unbrick a hardbricked phone? I urgently need help
If you installed the drivers and the computer is not reckognizing the device, that's bad news. How did you manage to accomplish that?

I don't know. And ijust in case if you were being sarcastic, I used the same computer to replace the recovery of this phone.
Im not being sarcastic. The problem with the Android modding scene is that people got too used to blindly following steps without really knowing how they are affecting their devices. In order to get better chances at getting help, you'll need to describe what and exactly how you were altering your phone.

I was using Bliss ROM with BluSpark kernel. Anyway, I downloaded 2 ROMS today, Sailfish OS and the stock H2OS for OPX. I wiped the phone and first flashed the Sailfish OS, but the phone was stuck in a bootloop which only was showing the oneplus logo and the text "Powered by Anrdoid". After that, I entered recovery, and did the normal pre-flash wipe again. This time I flashed the H2OS, but after I gave "Reboot to System", my phone just wont do nor display anything. Hardbricked, dead
Can you boot it into recovery? Your bat may be dead from extensively flashing stuff, so plug the phone to the power cable and press and hold VolDown+Power for some good 30s, then you can conclude your phone wont boot into recovery and maybe need an unbrick.

Yeah, it didn't boot into recovery
Does the led light up when you plug the phone to the wall? If it does let it charge for an hour before attempting anything else.
After that and before trying anything else, make sure driver signature check is off and test mode is on. This varies slightly for Windows 7/8 vs 8.1/10. Which version are you running?

I turned off the signature check, W8
If your led doesnt light when your phone is plugged to the wall, this is behind the hard unbricking procedure and your phone is indeed, dead.

Can a mod please close this thread?
No idea what it could be besides corrupt firmware which I've never heard of happening before. The Qualcomm utility should work just fine. Leave it plugged in for an hour or two and see if anything happens
Did you install the qualcomm drivers? If not do it again carefully with driver enforcement off. It works like a charm. Have bricked my device twice as of now and it worked.
