This only happens at home with my DPC 3825 router. Reconnecting works. Changed channels, nothing helped.

I had this issue with my d-link router... I changed the plug point of the adapter and now it has stopped... maybe that might help you. I think my problem is due to faulty earthing at my home

Hi
Have you got connection lease time settings on your router (renew adapters or something) this may be auto kicking you and reconnecting you.
Is there a same time that you are on and kicked off delay or is it random. Other than that my knowledge is limited but hoped I helped you

So I understand the wifi issue gives a weak signal, but even RIGHT ON TOP of my router I can only pull 3-5 mbit/sec, whereas on my laptop I can pull 30+ mbit/sec
Is there anything I can do to make my Prime get better speeds when in range? The range isnt an issue so much as the speeds. Im trying to use WatchESPN on my home wifi and its choppy and slow =\
You know you opening up a can of worms..lmao. just kidding.
This link should help you out. Http://smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wireless-basics/30664-5-ways-to-fix-slow-80211n-speed
IS THIS something that just occurred recently or you always had this issue? As I never seen you post about it before the whole time you been here

I didn't really notice the speed difference until today when I tried watching WatchESPN. I know people said changing the wifi channel can help, but I ran Wifi Analyzer and my channel is wide open at home, and I tried using it at work tethered to 4G and it looked like **** too, when my laptop looks fine.
Kind of bummed =\
Just check that link out. Really good info in there that might make it play better. People who had similar issues also switched to G only band n solved speed n range issues. Check out all possible options.

I have the Linksys WRT54G but just replaced it with the Linksys E4200 yesterday. With the WRT54G, I was able to get 15-16mbs down no problem when standing 7-8 feet away from the router above the basement where it was located.
Once I switched to the E4200, I'm now able to get 21-25mbs down from the same location...plus, my range has increased. In the farthest corner of my house, I can still muster 6-8mbs down.
One thing I did notice while tinkering around with both routers is that the type of security used definitely impacts download speeds. I swtiched to WPA2 and noticed a 4-5mbs increase which gave me the results posted above. This was not just important for my TFP but all of the wireless devices in my home including my PC.
That said, unless you have a wonky wifi radio in the TFP, you should certainly realize faster speeds than you're seeing.

Are you using old outdated WEP security? If so, switch to newer on like wpa n speeds will increase from that change alone, like other poster said.
Just tethered to my 4g and got 10mb on my phone and 9.5mb on my prime so that's good, just don't get my home internet prob

Ergo, every device on your network gets about that speed?
Complain to your ISP if you are paying for faster/demand a refund.

Assuming, you have tried the router on G mode with a low channel (1 or 6) and it still did not improve speed above your other devices (assuming the numbers reported are not in the correct format).
I must've had 5 reboots in the past hour on my note running ICS. The phone was just sitting there and i noticed in the corner of my eye that it kept rebooting randomly. Is anyone else noticing that as well? Does the phone keep any logs anywhere i can look into?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA Premium HD app
My phone isn't doing any of that. In fact I'm not experiencing most of the bugs I read about with regard to ICS. A few reboots and everything worked like it was supposed to. Even mms. I imagine that if you have a file browser you should be able to look around and find crash reports.

Did you just get ics or did you have a for a while and its starting to do random reboots? If you just got it and it did random reboots, try doing a backup then re do the steps from odin to obtain ics. If not, try clearing caches first.

I had it since the day it came out. I just noticed reboots right now during a meeting at work when my phone was on the table. Ill clear caches next...

it's not doing it anymore after I cleared /cache, dalvik-cache, and turned wifi off. I did have wifi enabled but not connected so that very well may have been the culprit.
Glad the clearing caches worked.

It actually happend to me today. My wifi was on but not connected. So yes, its the wifi thats turned on but not connected to a wifi connection thats causing random reboots. Clearing cache helps but will eventually happen again. I hope they fix this on the official ICS update.

Keep getting this notification every few mins at the bottom of my screen. It's like the wifi is constantly connecting/reconnecting to the network or something.
Can anyone tell me if this is normal or what? Never happened on the S2.
That looks like the wifi power saving mode.
Try turning it off. *#0011# in dialer.

No it's not normal. Unless your in bad spot and it keeps loosing connection I stay connected at my house and all around my yard and never see the connection noti unless I leave and come back.
I would suggest forgetting the wireless network and re-connecting. You can also try clearing your wifi data maybe ??

This worked perfectly! But I notice that it turns itself back "on" when I disconnect or turn off wifi. Anyway to keep it permanently set to "off" power save mode??
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
It will (or should) only reset after a reboot. At least that's my experience.
I know its annoying, but its the only thing I find works. Changing frequencies, channels and security settings always ends up with disconnects.
I don't know if it can be permanently set.

Correct! I rebooted and it reset. That's perfectly fine by me. It's worth it anyways! Maybe fix down the line might come out.

i have like a 5 year old wifi router but it seems to be only okay on the galaxy s3. i get fair connection most of the time in my house (especially the third floor). anyone else see it not be spectacular?
Signal is fine. There seem to be some sleep issues though.
Put WiFi on its fine. Everything is speedy. Let phone sleep and come back and it works but is definitely slower like its connected but takes a fair bit longer to pull stuff up. Almost like packet loss but once it starts pulling stuff down its fast just takes a bit too long to spool up. Shut WiFi off and put it on and is fixed.
I'm using an older wrt54 which I think only had 2.5ghz. I've tried setting it to just use that but same results. Wpa2.
I heard the wifi connections on the SGS3 were kind of lacking, but happy to report that it connects fine to my router.
I have a Linksys E3000 Dual-Band Router.
Just fine, no issues at all. Usually pulling down about 25000mbps on average.

I seem to get good speeds but the signal strength indicator is always at 1-2 bars I have not once seen it get to full bars and on rare occasion I get 3 bars. This is in a location where my laptop gets full bars.
Works great on my end.

just bought this phone and I really like it but this problem is driving me crazy.
I'm not even able to download an app from the store and even the meteo update takes much time.
should I bring it back?
thanks!!!
You should check it with a Notebook first, i don't think this is a phone problem.
