I was wondering if it was possible to get the JB browser onto ics. I put the apk in system/app with the correct permissions (-rw-r--r--) and rebooted but it doesn't appear. Is it not possible or am I just failing

even though they are still in the 4.0 branch, ics apps and JB are still built on a different framework, so I don't doubt it not working... especially if you're trying to put the ics TW browser back, then it's definately not going to work...

Yea I thought I was in the S3 forums... even though they are both AOSP browsers, still the difference in ICS and JB probably won't allow it to work... You could try putting the file into system/app and rebooting into recovery, fix permissions, but I doubt it will work... The .apk will most likely need modification to work...

Hmm dang okay well thanks for the help. I will try to fix permissions see if that helps. Probably won't.

I much prefer the JB Browser over ICS browser and Chrome. Chrome crashes frequently whenever I pull up the keyboard and ICS browser doesn't have as nice of quick controls

Hey newt, do everyone of your ROM's autowipe, or just when you have a new base?

just wondering if anyone's gone back to ICS? I mean its not like we really need any 'performance boost'.. and with jb, we give up smoothness, and flash.. what do you guys think? that last ics release on omega is stable as **** lol. sometimes I wonder why I always mess with my phone when its working perfectly fine heh. I think the only thing jb brings is a expanded notification bar, and that Google Now thing, which looks cool and I feel all techie using it, but really does nothing for me but getting me all excited thinking i have friends thinking I have a notification ..

It's pretty cool, on the latest version of jellybean for the s3 you have multi window functionality. Basically I can have 2or more apps open simultaneously for instance browser, gallery and messages.

I'm just about to go back to ICS after weeks of battling with battery life on JB ROMs. I used to have 90% battery left after a day in the office on CheckROM v3.5. Now I'm lucky if I have 70% (with the same apps installed, the same sync/location settings and Google Now disabled). I've tried CheckROM v6, various Wanam Lite releases, AnonoROM, Omega and none can come close to matching the battery life I had with ICS.
Back to CheckROM v3.5 I think....

Like I said it's 70% if I'm lucky, and have used the phone very little during the day. A few calls and I can easily finish with less than 40% to last an entire evening.

I'm going back to ICS this morning, just flashed LG1 and I'll apply the OTA LH9 update when I get the phone set up. I love JB, it's beautiful, but I hate watching the battery go down right before my very eyes after getting much better battery life on ICS.

I'm gonna try this now. I've been using the 4.1 aosp browser. I know to get the 4.1 working I had to delete not rename SecBrowser_VZW.apk

Running Galaxy S4 rooted on JB 4.3, Sacs custom ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2512983&highlight=9603
The app starts with the full screen Teeter board display, then shrinks to one corner of the screen (about 25% of the screen), the little ball falls in the hole & makes the sound during the startup demo, then it just goes blank & app FC.
Silly as it sounds, this is one of my favorite games from the HTC EVO. I've been hunting for it for a long time now & was pretty excited to see it here.
Any ideas to get it working.

Download the apk, move it from downloads to the /system/app/ directory using an explorer type app. Then you will change the permissions to
Code:
rw-r--r--
then reboot
like I mentioned, i'm not entirely sure this will work on non-sense devices. (no pun intended, even though it does make a good pun lol)

That's not the stock Calendar but a different version of what's installed. I tried it and it looked completely different.

yeah knew that what you meant, the liquid rom doesn't have that...not really feeling the google paly calendar. Maybe the rom just doesn't support it, either way I thought Id be the bees knees if some way the apk could be complied and added to any rom of choice
That IS the stock Google calender I don't know what stock calender you want but if it's the Google one then that's it.
