Meh, this is the General section on a Sense device. Fair enough. I found it interesting lol. Furthermore, to prevent further confusion for those reading these posts but not the article:
"Sense 4.1" is based on Android 4.0.4 ICS. Not on Android 4.1.x JellyBean.
Just putting that out there for those not fully aware, it is a bit confusing. And any future updates to the Rezound is mere speculation and rumor right now, I mean really.
looks the same....just bug fixes here and there....and speed improvements..

But how much of that battery improvement has to do with the kernel of the One X rather than more efficient code in the Sense 4.1/ Android 4.0.4 OS itself? I'd wager that the kernel is where all that extra battery time is being picked up, and that isn't of use to improving the Rezound's battery life.

*blinkblink* Pretty sure it was in at least one of the Rezound Sense 4.0 ports I ran.
And why inquiries such as this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1595920
the carousel effect is when you spun the homescreen and it went round and round..people just don't know the correct terms.

Well yes, I know that general application of the effect was taken away on the launcher. I was thinking also of the unlock carousel animation effect still present; it is that part that I thought was being questioned and eliminated as well between Sense 4.0 and 4.1. Sorry I was a bit unclear as well, "carousel" is generally the spinning by hand, simply "unlock animation" is a bit better term for that aspect.
What was the point in all this again?

Having come from a HTC device, which I ran as aosp, my comments are;
Sense widgets were easily replaced from the market. Many alternatives were superior to the sense equivalent.
You cannot have sense widgets without the sense kernel and framework
If it's touchwiz you dislike, just get a launcher from the market.
As a former AOSP developer, I have to recommend that you stay with sammy plus launcher for a while. Sammy roms are feature packed and you will lose loads by going to aosp. Don't jump ship until you know what you've got and whether or not you want it.

It shouldn't be that difficult noting JB wasn't a major overhaul the way ICS was, so working with it should be simple, once they don't push too much bloat into it and slow down the system, which with the work google put in, shouldn't be affected at all.
It cant be sense 4 because sense 4 is ICS, in theory since sense 4 is ics they cant make sense 3.x jellybean because the order would be broken of versions....they might give a sense 4.1 and give one s users sense 4.5 of something along those lines

1. Why the need for 4.0.4? I've looked at the change log, doesn't seem like all that much that I'd really care about

2. Why the need for Sense 4? I've used a phone with Sense 4, and to be honest, Sense 3.6 and 4 are very similar, just 4 has a few quirks (recent apps screen, widgets in the app drawer, couple extra cloud services, what else?).

Yes but apparently sense versions below 4 are huge hogs, even HTC admited it was, so they made sense 4 much more lighter. And, if HTC gave us older devices ics with an slightly updated sense 3.6 instead of 4, then they might give us sense 4 while probably a new gen HTC's with a newer version of sense releases, makes SENSE to me ahhahahaha pun intended

Not gonna happen. Multiple times they've stated legacy devices that shipped pre-ICS will not get Sense 4. They want to maintain the same look & feel as when the phone shipped, so as not to upset most people. Granted, basically anyone on xda would probably rather have AOSP from the manufacturer, but the general public won't. Eg. my girlfriend has the Evo 3D and says she won't update to ICS when Sprint releases it next month because they got rid of the arc tray at the bottom on the home screen. She had a friend who has the Evo V 4G, saw what ICS would look like on her phone, and has completely ruled it out.

That "feature" was taken out of Sense 5 after Apple and HTC settled the lawsuit about intelligent application picking. The only reason they added it was to get around the ruling, and it was never present in the overseas versions of Sense 4.5
