Touchwiz Widgets on CM9 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I wanna use the stock time/date and weather widgets on hotwires CM9, is this possible?

I've tried and I don't think it's possible, they're system apps for touchwiz so they can't really be copied over to another rom, there are many close alternatives in the market though

[Q] Bionix 1.2.1?

Hey guys I'm running Bionix V right now but I'm going to update to V 1.2.1.
So I'm wondering what the differences are between the 'Gingerbread' and the 'Touchwiz' editions? And in your opinions which is better and why?
I would just flash both of them to find out myself but I hate having to import my contacts, apps, sms/mms, and other things individually everytime. Unless you know of an app that makes it quick and easy to do all at once.
If someone could explain the differences I think I could make the right choice the first time
Thanks
Edit:
Also I've been hearing good/maybe bad things about V 1.2.1
Should users upgrade or stay with V? I'll keep you posted when I upgrade I've been a little busy lately
The difference is how the phone looks. When you hit the home button, your desktop, or launcher, has icons, widgets, etc.
The gingerbread one looks like standard, non themed gingerbread.
TouchWiz looks more like your vibrant did out of the box. I personally find it incredibly ugly so I prefer the gingerbread theme.

Can you still use launcherpro with the gingerbread version?

Yes you can use any home launcher you choose

Yes, I have been. I really don't think it matters which one you install if you're planning on installing a 3rd party launcher, anyway.

Oh really the only difference between the touchwiz and gingerbread is the launcher?
And how customizable are each of them and maybe I wouldn't need a third party launcher?

The only advantage I can think of for using touchwiz is that it comes with the Samsung apps installed as well.

That's what I want to get rid of. All the apps like mobileTV, amazon, kindle, all the bloatware.
So gingerbread is the way I should go?

I'm not sure if it comes with the bloatware, but it would come with the Samsung widgets that are available using TouchWiz. (One example is the "Friends" widget that updates facebook and twitter)
But if you're planning on using LauncherPro or any other launcher, all of this is moot anyway. I'd recommend the Gingerbread version because I like the notification bar and stock android is so much better looking than TouchWiz in every aspect.
EDIT: You asked earlier how to import contacts and things; you should sync them with Google as it makes the transition between ROMs seamless. Also, Titanium Backup can backup and restore all of your apps and data. (This excludes SMS). Finally, I use SMS backup to backup all of my texts/MMS to gmail for safekeeping
Thanks wearmaize
I'll go with gingerbread. I use sms and titanium backup they work great.
But last time I synced with google it didn't save all my contacts when I flashed so I don't know if somethings wrong or I'm doing it wrong

I have been hearing conflicting posts about the new Bionix version...I think i'll just stick with V

Next time you sync with google, check your contacts online using a computer to make sure they're all there.
As for Bionix, I'd recommend v 1.2 or v 1.2.1. I find v 1.2 to be the most stable, but I've only been on v 1.2.1 for a day so I can't really say for sure. Both are great.

Bionix 1.2.1 is nice, worthile upgrading I can see

Any way to use alternative launcher as default?

Meaning.....like getting launcher pro to run as default, while stock twiz DOESN'T run in background.
Make launcher pro run in background the way that twiz does...so it doesn't take up any extra ram in task manager.
Anyone know if this is possible?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
When you launch the launcher of your choice through hitting home you'll get a dialog box. Check the one you want. Go to titanium and freeze the launcher you don't use.
Don't blame me, blame my keyboard's autocorrection algorithm.
But that'll still run that launcher on top of twiz. You'll still see that launcher in task manager. What I'm asking is if someone can make a specific launcher run the way twiz does. Kinda like the way these non twiz roms run aosp froyo/gb launchers

I'm hoping for solutions, not suggestions on new roms...I'm happy with bionix v. Not gonna change roms till there's a stable gb release from team whiskey.
I'm just wondering how devs are able to apply the aosp launcher to run in the background, and if this is possible with launcher pro instead.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
If you have launcher pro installed just use root explorer to delete the touchwiz from the system/app folder.

That wasn't a suggestion tbh, it was a solution.
Getting a ROM with no TouchWiz will completely solve all your issues with this...
Also.. since you have bionix v... did you get the touchwiz one? just flash the one without it... same look, same feel, just no touchwiz.
It's not that I wanna remove touchwiz. I just want launcher pro to run in background the way touchwiz does.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Wouldn't selecting launcher pro as default when you click home work justl ike that??
Run in background....meaning it doesn't show up in task manager. Like touchwiz.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Oh...
Its in task manager no matter what u do... U cant remove it from that
Yes delete Touch Jizz uh i mean touch whiz is the best solution
If you freeze it in titanium it wont show or run in background. Because it essentially isn't recognized as an installed app for practical purposes. For example I have launcher pro and touchwiz installed but I use dxtop. I don't want to get rid of the others, I have an wp7 setup I'm working on in lp. But I have them both frozen, and they don't show up in task manager.
Don't blame me, blame my keyboard's autocorrection algorithm.

Nova, Apex, Trebuchet

I'm not trying to make a versus thread. I have tried all three and to be completely honest they all basically feel the same to me- I was just wondering if there are any snazzy features in one absent in the other. I am personally using Nova launcher currently but it has stopped working on me several times on AOKP build 32. Also if anyone could give a little input for reliability on either apex or trebuchet as i've been using Nova the longest I believe.
I think apex is the best. It seems to be totally fully featured, as in a few things that come free as opposed to paying for a few extra features on nova (I can't remember exactly what the were)

You can't go wrong whit trebuchet ...

I installed APEX as soon as I installed AOKP and I havent look elsewhere.
Apex bothered me with its "All, Downloaded, Widgets" app drawer setup, and I didn't see a way to remove the Downloaded tab. So I use Nova.
Apex They are great at responding to e-mails if you have any problems. I was having an issue they gave me a beta version that's not released I gave them feedback and then they pushed the beta to the play store

That part of it is a tad on the weird side, since it is not called that in the drawer
I have to be honest, I used ADW back with CM7 and just kept on using it. Easier to keep backed up even since no ics rom seems to use it so it's not a system app.
As long as I can make folders and stick five apps at the bottom I'm happy.

I feel apex is very stable and customizable and free. Nova u have to pay for more features and i never use the cm9 version so i might check it out but idk apex has all i need and plus some

Apex is nice mite go back to adw when mms counts r fixed with it in ics love apex but it almost the same and i already paid for adw plus 20 bucks worth of pro themes ( i like a custom dock backround )

well it sounds like I need to get more friendly with Apex, but I do agree that trebuchet is a good launcher. Nova has just unfortunately slipped up too many times for my tastes...
Apex ftw!
I've been playing around with apex and got my homescreens how I like them but one thing i've had trouble with is widgets. Several widgets have needed re-sizing and in order for the widget to not be chopped off i have to re-size it to where it takes up more room than it should. I have stock (240) dpi, and I played with the persistent search bar but no dice. It may just be that they aren't being sized correctly in the first place by apex i dunno...
Why i say trebuchet beats them all its because it works the way it should no issue really simple settings and doesn't too much like a custom launcher...

I use Nova and paid for Prime. It's only a little bit of money. I tried Apex and didn't like it as much. I didn't like Trebuchet because I couldn't do anything about the dock. Roll with what you want.
i didn't like Trebuchet launcher. There wasn't really that much customization you could do. Apex was pretty cool IMO but, for some reason i couldn't place down any widgets, so i moved on to Nova Launcher. It works fine for me. I haven't had any problems whatsoever and i can deal with the free version. Just my 2 cents
I like apex it has a little more options to customize things like folders and how they look. It was a little annoying how I couldn't put Widgets down from application drawer but if you long press screen you could place widget down or download apex apk and move it to system apps through root explorer and reboot.

Jorte Calendar app

Has anyone else tried this calendar app for the note? I like it because it offers a similar calendar widget to to stock touchwiz widget for those of us on custom ROMS. Tried to insert screenshot, but says its no longer working.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
I used it in the past, works really well. But, if you're looking for something closer to stock, you might want to check out CalWidget, that's what I use now. It links directly to your stock calendar and has a great mini-agenda. =)

Have been using Jorte since I lost the stock Calender and love it..The full page widget is my favourite! Black theme and adjustable transparency..I wouldn't. go back to stock if I could...
Did I mention its free?

[Q] forth bar: infusion question

hey guys i just installed the forth bar: infusion rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1940988
i already love it its my first time with an aosp based rom and trying to amend a rom as well.
I was wondering if there is anyway to put the stock amaze clock app in there instead of the included aosp one?
i miss having all of those features in one place
The stock Amaze Clock is Sense based. So you'll need Rosie and the clock file. You cab probably just go with a themed Fancy Widget or Beautiful Widget.
I'm looking for the actual app. I should have gotten the screen shots from the beginning sorry for the confusion... also how can i find the file?
You can't install a Sense based app on a non Sense ROM. Sense apps require sense framework to run correctly. It's a lot more complicated than installing an app. Use a Sense based ROM if you want that clock app that badly.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Thank you, I was afraid you might say that... Does anyone know of a good clock app that might have some of these features rolled into one?
Sent from my HTC Amaze 4G using xda app-developers app
look up a few posts, Fancy Widgets Beauiful widgets etc UCCW
Fourth bar is sense based so you can probably just extract the clock apps and push them to your phone. None of the Widgets will work without Rosie.

so after i downloaded the apk you posted it worked great but i reflashed fourth bar to try some of the different settings out and now i cant get it to install again... any ideas?
are you pushing it to system/app? I've gotten some sense based apps to work on fourth bar, so it should work. I've done some other things to install apps directly into the rom too, open the rom zip with winzip, or whatever program you use to extract/compress on your computer, and add your apk directly into the system/app folder, then when you install your rom you're ready to go right away. That's very useful when you're flashing back and forth alot, saves a couple steps. Or you could also install a rom, backup whatever app you want with titanium, install the rom you want, then restore the apps you extracted.
I tried just pushing moving the apk to the system app file which worked the first time but I'm gonna give it a try on my computer and see if that works
