[Q] forth bar: infusion question - HTC Amaze 4G

hey guys i just installed the forth bar: infusion rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1940988
i already love it its my first time with an aosp based rom and trying to amend a rom as well.
I was wondering if there is anyway to put the stock amaze clock app in there instead of the included aosp one?
i miss having all of those features in one place

The stock Amaze Clock is Sense based. So you'll need Rosie and the clock file. You cab probably just go with a themed Fancy Widget or Beautiful Widget.

I'm looking for the actual app. I should have gotten the screen shots from the beginning sorry for the confusion... also how can i find the file?

You can't install a Sense based app on a non Sense ROM. Sense apps require sense framework to run correctly. It's a lot more complicated than installing an app. Use a Sense based ROM if you want that clock app that badly.

Thank you, I was afraid you might say that... Does anyone know of a good clock app that might have some of these features rolled into one?
Sent from my HTC Amaze 4G using xda app-developers app

look up a few posts, Fancy Widgets Beauiful widgets etc UCCW

Fourth bar is sense based so you can probably just extract the clock apps and push them to your phone. None of the Widgets will work without Rosie.

Thank you so much having that app installed makes this rom perfect imo

so after i downloaded the apk you posted it worked great but i reflashed fourth bar to try some of the different settings out and now i cant get it to install again... any ideas?

are you pushing it to system/app? I've gotten some sense based apps to work on fourth bar, so it should work. I've done some other things to install apps directly into the rom too, open the rom zip with winzip, or whatever program you use to extract/compress on your computer, and add your apk directly into the system/app folder, then when you install your rom you're ready to go right away. That's very useful when you're flashing back and forth alot, saves a couple steps. Or you could also install a rom, backup whatever app you want with titanium, install the rom you want, then restore the apps you extracted.

I tried just pushing moving the apk to the system app file which worked the first time but I'm gonna give it a try on my computer and see if that works

Notification Pull Down Power Controls

Ive tried making my own theme including this using this awesome kitchen: http://circle.glx.nl/
I would love to have the Power options (GPS, WiFi, BT, etc) in the pull down, anyone know how?
I checked out this page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=885326&page=2
And pulled the framework apk from this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=764787
When I tried using the framework from evils Desire port and I clicked on the option in the kitchen it would error out, when I used the framework from the rom above it was fine. Phone booted, no issues, but since it is not from this device its missing things, and menus are spaced with blank areas.
Sorry for the super noob questions, but can someone point me to a guide on how to incorporate this feature on our Roms?
The Galaxy S style Notification Bar controls are something I really miss about my Vibrant. If I wanted a list of recently opened apps, I can long press on Home
one more vote for notification area power controls!
like this ?
+1 for pull down power menu..

I know you are trying to implement it into a rom. If anyone is just looking for this feature, give Widgetsoid a try.
Hi
Tried this but not the best thing. This requires the widget to be on the screen as well. Also what I see in the HD forum is to get rid of the latest used app and the carrier name.

Actually you are incorrect. This doesnt require the widget to be on the home screen. You can have it only in the notification bar. This app did take a minute to get set up how I wanted but it is GREAT!!! One of the biggest things I was missing from CM7 was this feature and now I can make sure to have it on any rom I am running.

[Q] Bionix 1.2.1?

Hey guys I'm running Bionix V right now but I'm going to update to V 1.2.1.
So I'm wondering what the differences are between the 'Gingerbread' and the 'Touchwiz' editions? And in your opinions which is better and why?
I would just flash both of them to find out myself but I hate having to import my contacts, apps, sms/mms, and other things individually everytime. Unless you know of an app that makes it quick and easy to do all at once.
If someone could explain the differences I think I could make the right choice the first time
Thanks
Edit:
Also I've been hearing good/maybe bad things about V 1.2.1
Should users upgrade or stay with V? I'll keep you posted when I upgrade I've been a little busy lately
The difference is how the phone looks. When you hit the home button, your desktop, or launcher, has icons, widgets, etc.
The gingerbread one looks like standard, non themed gingerbread.
TouchWiz looks more like your vibrant did out of the box. I personally find it incredibly ugly so I prefer the gingerbread theme.

Yes, I have been. I really don't think it matters which one you install if you're planning on installing a 3rd party launcher, anyway.

Oh really the only difference between the touchwiz and gingerbread is the launcher?
And how customizable are each of them and maybe I wouldn't need a third party launcher?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
The only advantage I can think of for using touchwiz is that it comes with the Samsung apps installed as well.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
That's what I want to get rid of. All the apps like mobileTV, amazon, kindle, all the bloatware.
So gingerbread is the way I should go?

I'm not sure if it comes with the bloatware, but it would come with the Samsung widgets that are available using TouchWiz. (One example is the "Friends" widget that updates facebook and twitter)
But if you're planning on using LauncherPro or any other launcher, all of this is moot anyway. I'd recommend the Gingerbread version because I like the notification bar and stock android is so much better looking than TouchWiz in every aspect.
EDIT: You asked earlier how to import contacts and things; you should sync them with Google as it makes the transition between ROMs seamless. Also, Titanium Backup can backup and restore all of your apps and data. (This excludes SMS). Finally, I use SMS backup to backup all of my texts/MMS to gmail for safekeeping
Thanks wearmaize
I'll go with gingerbread. I use sms and titanium backup they work great.
But last time I synced with google it didn't save all my contacts when I flashed so I don't know if somethings wrong or I'm doing it wrong
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I have been hearing conflicting posts about the new Bionix version...I think i'll just stick with V

Next time you sync with google, check your contacts online using a computer to make sure they're all there.
As for Bionix, I'd recommend v 1.2 or v 1.2.1. I find v 1.2 to be the most stable, but I've only been on v 1.2.1 for a day so I can't really say for sure. Both are great.

missing htc apps

Is there a way to get missing htc apps like htc notes+widget htc hub flash light app and fm radio as an installable APK without root
Good call, I didn't realize they weren't included..can anyone provide these apks? Or is it as simple as copying them from my Dinc to the SD card and installing on the phone?

TeslaLED in the market is a great replacement for flashlight. Can't get the htc hub.

Yeah, I was wondering where the flashlight widget was after I got to go through my phone yesterday. The greedy bastards at Verizon strike again.
TeslaLED works well enough, but I love the three levels of intensity offered by the HTC widget. I wonder if anyone has done an app that gives you a slider to vary the light intensity.
Haven't tried all the flashlight apps, the market has too many. Once we get root you can use the htc flashlight apk.
Sent from my Galaxy Tab 10.1
The one called LED Light is HTC themed.
I don't see why having root would make a difference for the HTC Flashlight app. Maybe there's a reason that I don't know. I have that apk and it will not install.

Might not be compatable with 3.5.

It's a system apk and will not install except with a root level adb push. It may also need libs that are not there.

I was able to get it to "work" on my phone after sending the apk to my phone and copying it to /system/app using root explorer, however it only works on one level instead of 3 like on the Dinc.
I was able to get the apps needed to install by hacking the manifest but I can't get the htc options to load.
Im still working on it. I got to at least show the get more options on each category

that's not on this phone. it's on every sense 1.0 phone, but not the higher sense ones. all it says is "show all HTC widgets" instead of "get more htc widgets" like it used to..and show all just litearlly shows all of the HTC ones on the phone in one list. annoying.

Yeah we need hub.
from what i can see there are about 5 apps needed for htc hub to operate. i was able to get them to install and myhtc to install by hacking the manifest. there is still something crucial missing. perhaps libs as nils said. hard to trouble shoot without root.
on sense 3.5 it is different. the get more options is on the top right instead of at the bottom like on sense 3.0. as i said i was able to get that to show up but connecting to htc hub caused fc
I did find a flashlight app somewhere but dont remember where and it does fully work. Also couldnt we port over those apps like notes hub and fm radio from a HTC Sensation XL system dump or rom?

Yes sir... Desktop Visualizer
It allows you to put icons on your Sd card and set them for any application you want... i believe there is also icon packs you can use for it
I got the ics theme for adw and long pressed and edited and that worked also.

You can always go the longer route, if you want to change the icon throughout the entire rom. I use root explorer, extract the apk, replace the icon png, zip file, rename as apk, move back into system/apps. Reboot. I only do this on Sense so that I can still have the notification bubbles on stock apps (msgs, phone, task, etc)

Looking for an AOSP lockscreen (SOLVED)

I'm using MeanROM, but I prefer an AOSP style lockscreen. Can anybody tell how to get, or make, one without using a non-Sense launcher?
Widget locker out of the market
Go locker/launcher is worth looking into as well
Use your root file browser and go to system, app, rename HTC lockscreen (add .bak to it so you can go back to it if you want later) reboot, and you'll have stock ics lockscreen. You just won't have any of the sense features, like seeing who's calling, or answering without unlocking first. Give it a shot, you can always restore sense lockscreen if it's not what you wanted.

Delete that and all the idlescreen files if you wanna be thorough. You can always pull them later from the rom zip and reinstall them.
