Use extweaks since you are using siyah. Open extweaks > press "CPU" tab if you are not on it by default > Hotplug mode > set to "Second core always-off".

May I ask why would you want to shut down second core?
If not for the battery or performance why then just doesn't make any sense!
Sent from my GT-I9100
try this
echo "off" > /sys/devices/virtual/misc/second_core/hotplug_on
echo "off" > /sys/devices/virtual/misc/second_core/second_core_on

Does anyone know any good apps to check cpu usage that is known to be accurate, I have installed system panel and system tuner pro, both show all 4 core usage with on and sleep if cpu is not in use, the problem is all core 0,1,2,3.
both display different core in sleep mode at at the same time, example at the same time system panel shows core 1 and 2 in sleep mode, while system tuner pro shows core 1 and 3 in sleep mode, or just core 0 running and the other 3 sleeping.
so how do we know which is accurate and are these apps really that accurate.
thanks in advance.:victory:
CPU Spy
Check CPU SPY... Accurate and does not use any resources
anything to check all 4 core.
thanks

Sod is the kernel. Try to flash another one I hear dorimanx is making good progress on his kernel

Just set your idle cpu to 100 to 200mhz because lower than that you might get sod. Mine is 100mhz using siyah with extweak app.

Use ondemand and SIO or the default Siyah governor.

I have a similar problem with custom roms. I have only tried 3 (Paranoid Android, Resurrection Remix and Slimbean) and the all had frozen my phone at least once a day while the screen is on. So I had to pull the battery then it decreases my battery significantly. I also tried different kernels but still the same result.
I don't undervolt or overclock it So I honestly don't understand why it's doing it. I however set the governor to performance.
Any help please? It's getting rather annoying. Thanks guys.

1. Post your present ROM and kernel details
2. Post your kernel configuration
3. Next time you have SOD/freeze, there is no need to pull the battery, just hold the power button for about 10secs, your device will restart

Performance governor caused the problem, if you want performance boost with Siyah kernel then use performance profile.
1. Uninstall voltage control
2. Download Extweaks from market
3. Run Extweaks
4. Reboot to recovery
5. Select kernel specific option
6. Select performance profile for Extweaks
7. Reboot phone
Your phone should fly now without freezing

Thanks but I changed governor to smartass 2 but I still had a freeze..but I will try use the kernel tweak instead.
I have just formatted my external sdcard as I have read corrupted files may cause freeze.
I have also noticed that it does it when the phone is on charge and while on the xda app lol. But then again that is what I am mostly on when I'm on my phone: )

i believed the reason why you changed your governor to performance was because you wanted to boost performance.
Siyah default governor favors more performance, use default governor.
If you want performance, then
Boot to recovery
Kernel specific option
Reset Extweaks profile settings
Select performance profile.
Reboot phone.
Change every other thing except the governor.
Now that you are experiencing freezes, use stable configuration first

Hi
I have the following setup:
ICS 4.0.3
MIUI v: 2.9.21
Baseband: I9100XXLQ6
Kernel: [email protected]))
Build no: MIUI-2.9.21 IML74K
Before this I had lots of other roms whether that be stock(latest) or custom. Same with kernels!
Its been almost a year that i have my S2 and I had never the luck to have a stable phone without the SODs!!!
Can anyone help me through this?
Thanx
Hey everyone, i Was wondering if it is possible to disable the 2nd core so it will run single core?
When checking System tuner, I see the second core jumps to 1.9 ghz some times, when using XSX kernel.

I'm on stock kernel that come with .50. CPU1 is offline most of time! And it's still perform very well!

what's the main reason you want this?
The benefit of having 2 cores is that you can better multitask. If you want to save battery you could also try underclocking your cpu.
You would still have the benefit of multitasking with 2 cores and saving battery. (of course your phone would be less powerful, but that also goes for putting 1 core down)
I see cpu1jumping to 1.9 ghz a lot I dunno if it's a bug or what but doing nothing and just idle with screen on it jumps up from offline to 1.9.
So I was just wondering if it's possible to turn it off completely or make it jump to a lower clock.
Battery is good if screen turned off, but screen on it consumes battery fast, and my clock is normally 1.5 ghz ondemand, and cfg

Hi, I've discovered this app and decided to post in this section because of it's nature.....it enable/disable the 2nd core faster than any script or manual settings....i think it could be very useful in this Development section. It may help to reduce battery draining....especially on ics leaked based roms. No difficult mods....no scripts....no manual editing....no terminal emulator.....just install the app (with root), run it, ignore compatibility warnings and click the toggle. Reapply after every boot.
You can check it with this tool tegra2tableau.

Hello, this is my first post and I'm spanish, sorry for my bad English.
I have an Archos G9 101 turbo 512 Mb RAM, and I flashed the surdu_petru Root & Deodex - Archos Firmware 4.0.28.
And my question is: Is the second core enable?, if not, how can I enable it?
Thanks a lot for your work.

I don't know if is this:
CPU's Online: sometimes 0 and sometimes 0-1
What does it mean?, is the second core enable?, if not, how can I enable it?
0 is the first core, 1 is second.
Your second core auto-disable when it is no used, and auto-enable when there's a need in it.

Yes and no. Under load, like gaming, it is enabled. When there is no load, second core is disabled.
