Is there an app that can turn on data for a set time then turn off then on in intervals. I've noticed that data drains my battery compared to having it off so I was wondering if there is an app that is like a timer for data. Thanks

You could either look into an app like 3g watchdog or you could use the app tasker to set up a profile that turns data on and off as frequently or infrequently as you want. Hope this helps .

What part of a Rom/command turns data off while on WiFi, is it the build.prop or something else

You could use the search

'adb shell su -c "svc data disable"' and 'adb shell su -c "svc data enable"'. You must be rooted.

Thanks for the suggestion but it seems that toggles data on/off in general and I want it to toggle it automatically when only on wifi which I did use the search with no luck hence why I am asking in the "Q&A Section"

seems like i did not understand your question clearly before. anyways, just to clarify if both WiFi and mobile data is on, the system uses only WiFi, i hope that is how your phone behaves.
I think that might be possible via apps like Automate it/tasker, however i don't seem to understand the need for doing that.
Does that help? i am still wondering if i got your question correct.
Maybe approach from a different angle.... what are you trying to accomplish once you have the ability to toggle data while on wifi?
Ok let me be more clear I'm wondering what controls the data icon visibility when on WiFi, on every phone I've had the data icon isn't present when using WiFi except this one

I think that's a much easier question to answer. I recall that being answered somewhere quite simply and I'm sure someone will be able to recall the answer. I can't recall at the moment...

Can anyone chime in on this?

Wasnt it like a setting that said check for network data in the case of poor wifi. Think thats an option in some roms but maybe stock Max has it enabled by default. I will keep my eye on it at home wifi later.

Yea I've looked all over the max so I'm thinking its something that can be changed in the framework ... Juice defender works but I'm trying not to half to use an aftermarket program. Please advise

I noticed last night on mine that occasionally it had the 4G and wifi on together. Haven't particularly had time to try to dig up what I thought I read before.
Well let me know if you come up with something

i had this issue once my mms apn wasnt set up correctly
so i had a mms in the inbox and the phone constantly tried to download the mms to no avail
so the mobile data icon H or 3G was always visible even with wifi on
so i deleted the mms restarted and the icon was gone....
i dont need mms so often so i let it this way...

I have a galaxy s4.. with verizon. Not rooted. Everything stock.
I was looking at my data use on my phone. It says the thing that is using the most data is Tethering and it uses 1.07GB in background.
How do I turn that off? I.dont even use tethering. on my. phone. My phone is using a lot of data and I.dont have unlimited...

Are you checking the phones data usage app? If I'm not mistaken it shows both WiFi and mobile data together. Check your my Verizon app and see what it says.

So I have no data plan but I can do picture messages. Sometimes especially when just flashing a new ROM the phone will use data before I can get WiFi or turn data off and data without a data plan is very expensive. So I was wondering of there was a way to break my data connection preferably though a flashable zip (if i hafta reflash it with every new rom so be it) so that it can only use data for mms? Maybe if I do something fancy with apn's? If it makes a difference I'm on T-Mobile.

Taking off the battery cover should work. All of the antennas are in the cover, so removing it should greatly reduce any signal strength and quality.
Well I still want to text and get MMS.

But nvm its okay T-Mobile just added 500 MBS of data free to my account so no problem anymore turns out that was what it used.
