Quick little thought. Now that ICS is Live and Official do we get the source code from that or do we still need to wait for something else. I know the only thing that is truly stifling the development of this device was the lack of working RIL and Kernel Source but now that ICS has been released I would assume devs can decompile the code from the update? or am I totally wrong on how this works.
We have to wait until HTC release kernel source.

SO in theory we are days away from bringing back the Rezound back to development glory. And I would figure that AOKP and CM would be soon to follow once the source is released. Also considering the JB is only 4.1 and an extension of ICS we should get CM10 sooner rather than later.
Also does anyone know if this works, http://www.xda-developers.com/android/google-now-with-voice-search-finally-working-on-ics/ I have been DYING to rub it in all my friends faces who own Iphones to prove Siri is a gimick whereas Google Now is actually useful( kinda like a 1950's housewife no back talk just does what you ask)

The initial release of the One S was scheduled for April 2, 2012 in the UK and was available online on the 4th; physically and officially available for distribution on the 5th. Source code for the kernel was published on June 4th, So that would be 60 days from launch, 59 from the latter standard.
While Android is under the Apache license, the Linux kernel is a separate entity and is licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 2. Section 3 details how source code is to be distributed.
Section 3 of the GPLv2 states that when a commercial distribution of object code is released, the developer must either accompany it with the source code (subsection a), or accompany it with "a written offer, valid for at least three years, to give any third party, for a charge no more than [their] cost of physically performing source distribution, a complete machine-readable copy of the corresponding source code..." (The last subsection may only apply to noncommercial distribution.)
Dictionary.com
ac·com·pa·ny [uh-kuhm-puh-nee] ac·com·pa·nied, ac·com·pa·ny·ing.
verb (used with object)
1. to go along or in company with; join in action: to accompany a friend on a walk.
2. to be or exist in association or company with: Thunder accompanies lightning.
3. to put in company with; cause to be or go along; associate (usually followed by with ): He accompanied his speech with gestures.
Merriam-Webster
1 : to go with as an associate or companion
Oxford Dictionary
2. be present or occur at the same time as (something else)

Now, HTC may go with their choice of subsection a or b. It is thus reasonable to conclude the license does not allow for any delay beyond the OTA date in the release of the source code under Section 3, subsection a. What of subsection b? I'm unaware of any written offer, though it may be in the legal information in the phone's settings menu. I shall take a look.
They are effectively in non-compliance with any option, since the object code has already been released, and they do not directly produce source code upon request, at least not in a reasonably timely manner as inferred by the intent of the license.
Well, I hope they comply when I place a formal request... and if there is a written offer in the phone's legal files, you can be sure I'm requesting the source code again 3 years after the ICS update was released.

Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
It is absolutely ready for prime time- the newest apk that I'm using allows auto-complete to work for setting alarms, etc.. The only tiny bug w/ this one I have is sometimes if you go to the actual cards page- the voice search won't display the cards until you force quit the app (in the rom I'm using, thats as easy as holding down the back key)- and then everything works 100% again.. Also I see I have about 10 pages to read on that topic since last night, so my guess is there's probably an even newer apk that squashes that small bug.. Get it, use it- pretty sweet.. smashes siri

I'm using the mikey v1 version, but looks like there's a v2 that's even newer (personally I don't really have any probs w/ v1).. All the instructions there about changing permissions, etc.. do them if you're having probs, but I didn't need to. Instructions say to flash zip with cwm, but I used amon and it worked fine.. good luck
You'll see several suggestions in links provided in that post- but a quick summary for you.. to quickly add your sports team, just use google now and do a bunch of voice searches in a row for your team/s. Eventually you'll see them show up in 'my teams' under g-now settings and you'll start getting auto-updates.. Also, to get all the auto traffic stuff going for home/work make sure to set your home and work location in your maps app (click "maps" dropdown in top left, then "location history"-- that is where you can set home/work).

That would really be great. I contacted the company and all they would tell me is that they are working with several, (unnamed), manufacturers to get this feature bundled with upcoming products.
True multi-tasking would fill a big void in the current Android offerings. I love my Tab but am reminded all the time that it is not quite the same as my Windows laptop. It does a great job doing what it can do but it cannot do everything... at least not yet.

Those nicknames sound about right, and remember, computers are suppose to magically work. There is no back end servers that manage everything, it just works.
My drive isn't available yet. The funny thing is that I was interviewing with Dropbox a few weeks ago when this was rumored. During the second interview they asked "what feature do you think could completely revolutionize Dropbox?" my answer was the ability to store media and stream it to your devices, they said it was a good idea but would probably create problems with the DMCA/MPAA/RIAA/any other four letter asshole groups or laws. I just saw on G+ today that someone mentioned this was a feature and when I asked them about it they confirmed it worked!
I have a feeling that once this matures, Dropbox is going to lose a fair amount of users.
Have you guys seen the verge article? Basically, they could possibly use, modify, and profit from what you store in the gdrive. I went ahead and downloaded it, and it works pretty well. Just waiting to see how Google responds to the complaints. I dig google, and all the stuff the put out. Just sayin.

Not nearly as bad as the headlines we are seeing.
Source:

"As it turns out, the company claims no ownership—it says so right in the terms of service, and a comparison between Google Drive's terms and that of other storage services turns up few material differences, except for a couple of questionable terms that may land your content in Google's promotional materials."
Just got mine activated today, it's neat, but nothing mind-blowing yet. The only thing that is awesome right now is if you upload a video to your drive you can watch it on a mobile device.

There's a little trick to "forcing" activation. If you have 2 google accounts on your phone, download the app and keep switching between accounts in the app and it will activate. Did it yesterday and it worked. I now have 2 active accounts 10 minutes after signup.
not really liking drive though..or the app I should say. Lacks image thumbnails and can't create folders. To view an image it takes time to open where dropbox is almost instant and you can swipe to next pic just like in gallery. IMO, dropbox is still the winner. But I'm sure its only time till those issues are addressed.

Been playing with it. I can't see releasing it as an average users alternative though as Gentoo is nowhere as user friendly as Ubuntu. I was working on a flashable version for the Photon with some changes but had to stop myself and get back to higher priority projects. Gave them my ubuntop cwm template to help out though which an Atrix user grabbed and may have an Ubuntop release for Atrix soon.

Thanks go to Urban Strata for helping clarify it's purpose, and to SteelH, il duce, -viperboy- and everybody else whose been helping look in to this.
Security issues are still always of interest, but if those are patched all that is left is for someone to remove any extraneous code here.
The APKs for it are:
HtcOMADM_SPCS.apk
HtcOMADM_SettingsPlugin_SPCS.apk - looks harmless (thanks SteelH)
HtcOMADM_Tool_SPCS.apk - has some questionable content
I apologize if we jumped the gun blaming htc for this, but with the reputation data mining companies have earned themselves it's not a very good feeling to find software from a company like that running without your knowledge.

Think it will be under red bend or vsense? Try and find it as well.
With a quick look I found this.. data/data

First thing I did was debloat so I haven't noticed it running, but somehow the /data/data/com.redbend.vdmc/ folder is still on my phone. Part of what got my attention is that I don't remember seeing it when I went through the system apps.
I've been swamped here lately so I was kinda hoping someone else has already had a chance to rip it apart. Even if we can opt out of it I still don't trust it, especially if it's this poorly protected.
edit: found it HtcOMADM_SPCS.apk
Great, wtf is wrong with HTC and Sprint? Leave the spyware out of android ffs!

It's hiding under something if it is running. That's all I can see for now too. Sorry for being obvious.
HTC has so much running, if theyre responsible then it is gonna be in with their shat.
I don't have the tools to monitor what's going out and where. Ciq was found in that manner. If redbend isn't stupid they will hide it better.
Maybe someone could get in touch with TrevE and see what he can figure out.

I'm looking into this.
Well, this is a little unsettling...
looking @ "tree.xml" in /data/data/com.redbend.vdmc/
there's some REALLY creepy code in there about data logs and server pulls, re-auths, there's even a command to upload (I think) some user info on data behavior to https://oma.ssprov.sprint.com/oma .....
I also see in the /ext/ directory there, they have 2 files:
libvdmengine.so
libvdmfumo.so
I also have no idea what the info inside "vdm.reg.xml" in the /shared_prefs/ points to but it loos like it may be injecting an xml line into another part of the system?
...more to come...
ok now looking in titanium backup for "com.redbend" it returned this app name:
vDM Client 1.0.2218232562.436999.426320
just reporting lol
It seems like this had a quick response when all the techblogs began to report about it. Maybe we should submit this to Engadget, BGR, Gizmodo, etc. and see what kind of feedback we can get back from Sprint/HTC about it?
Damn these fing companies.... Is it enough we have uncle Sam on our tails

Good god...Thanks for digging in on this fellas, if it is doing some naughty things...I hope it gets all blown up like cIQ did. I'm about ready to go back to a flip phone if this crap doesn't stop.

and you now cannot update your PRL and profile
just discovered this.
I am pushing the 3 apks back one at a time until I know which does what.
so far, the settingsprovider one put the "system updates" back into my settings menu, but I still couldn't update

Ok so I pushed back all but the _tool_ one and can update my stuff.
Sadly it looks like they built dependencies into these
Hopefully the more talented people can find a way to fix this.
I'll keep the tool apk out of my system and see how it goes, I do still have signal and data.
Also that app name I listed earlier in TiBu is installed again, must be one of those first 2 apks.
I've been trying to find some information on getting the TrueSmart connected to my S4. I've found references to something called Osmart, and downloading additional apps from the play store, however to my knowledge Osmart does not exist and I have not been able to find any other info. Does anyone know what the status of this functionality is? Is this still being developed? is there a working solution?
Go to Omate dev on google Plus kurt is makeing the app and you have to belong to the beta group to get the app from the play store. Hope this helps.

Both apps are BETA releases right now so not all features work.
If you want to use it as a companion device you need OSmart Master (on your phone) and OSmart Companion (on your watch).
To get access to the OSmart Master app you need to join the Omate TrueSmart Developers G+ community and then sign up as a tester for the OSmart Master app
To get the companion app you need to download and install it from the OStore
I cannot find osmart in the ostore. Is there a more recent version of the ostore I need to get?

Unfortunately, Kurt been trying to get his updated version into OStore for the last 2 months without any luck. I got his latest copy before X-mas (he emailed it to me). As far as I can tell there are still issues, and I wasn't able to get it to work reliably with my Note 2. Some notifications get displayed, others don't, and often I had to reboot TrueSmart to restart the app to continue working. It's a bit disappointing but you have to keep in mind that Kurt is doing this in his spare time out of the goodness of his heart. Omate original intention for TrueSmart is to have standalone watch used with SIM or wi-fi, not bleutooth tethered like Pebble or MetaWatch.
Now with a larger worldwide deployment of TrueSmart, they will be more focused on support of main TS functionality rather than "bonus" bt tethering, I'm afraid...

I just find it all extremely disappointing. Kurt should NOT have to develop this on his own in his spare time. Omates backers deserve better. I backed this campaign not only because of its independent functionality but because of the promise Omate made that this watch will work as a companion. It's there in black and white and color for all to see, in fact it's the first thing you see when you view the kickstarter page:
Omate® TrueSmart™ truly standalone water-resistant smartwatch, works independently from and with all smartphones. 3G, Voice & Gestures!
I'm not sure what you're source for this information is, but I truly hope you are mistaken otherwise the list of broken promises grows as this was never considered a bonus feature by us backers.
Would like to point out a couple things;
Work with far more devices than the Gear. (when you can find the app)
Is one of a very few Android based smartwatches that supports a companion mode. The AW-420 and other x201 don't even offer this as a possiblity.
Is the only watchphone that I know of that even supports a companion mode (a there are a ton of these around).
Kurt is an employee of Omate.
And this is all with BETA apps on a BETA device that has not even reached the retail market yet.

Kurt is contracted to make these apps.
Good luck getting any non-Samsung phone to work well with the Gear.

Contract or not this was a core feature for many backers, Nobody should be developing this app in their spare time.

Since my last communication with Kurt was before x-mas and my info about Omate priority of TS being standalone device came from video interview given by Laurent to Smartwatchfan website during CES, obviously my info is not up to date, so I would listen to Kuronosan update as an official confirmation.
You fund the development of a product and join a developers forum and then complain about a lack of final run features.
If you want a final product, go to Best Buy. If you want to be on the bleeding edge, Kickstarter and XDA-Developers are your friends.

Spare me that old song and dance. I think that lone has been plagiarized enough. Perhaps if you bothered to read my posts you would understand. I have no issues with the availability of these features at launch. I do, however have issue when a company that raised over a million dollars hires one guy to develop a core feature in his spare time. I also have issues when SD cards and spare batteries are sent separate from a device with a note basically saying if you install them you will void your warranty. Perhaps in backward world this makes sense, but not in this one.

I'm well famiar with contract work, that doesn't mean that I agree with how omate is handling the development of this core feature.
By your logic simply because I understand what the NSA is doing I should agree with it.

So a BETA device that is not even been released to retail has no relevance? I am on xda right?
I agree with Loki; hw is finalized and the SW is still in beta testing. That is a whole idea of KS/IGG project deadline to get hw in the hands of backers. SW can be updated with yet another patch, hw fixes are much harder to handle. BUT, at the same time I'm happy to see current TS owners voicing their opinion about importance of Companion app. For a lot of us, a basic smartwatch principle has been defined by Pebble/Metawatch notification model. TS is a fantastic standalone device, especially if you are not on Verizon (lol!!!). But for a lot of other people who find their Pebble/Metawatch to be limited, myself included, we are looking for TS to be a super smartwatch to take us there.
As long as Omate guys are not dropping a ball on bt tethering (for notification purposes), we need to wait until they prioritize their work to get there. And if we still talking about this 6 months from now, then you have all the rights to get pissed

Your logic is terrible, and so are you.
Just leave. Please. Everyone here is already tired of your bad inferences and faulty logic.
Go complain on the Cyanogen or OMNI topics about how "X feature isn't implemented wtf" and see how quickly you're laughed out of the topic. You clearly have no clue how development works.

This is my thread, I'm not going anywhere. You clearly can't handle what I have to say for whatever reason. It's like having a conversation with a 5 year old. You run out of things to say so you resort to name calling and saying go away.
For the mature people here, I'm not going to debate whether this device should be considered a beta device or not, or whether the fact that it's a kickstarter automatically renders it so. I will, however state that I have read every bit of information available on the truesmart and at no point does it state that this is a beta watch. Some of you might argue that it's a given considering it's a kickstarter. Well then, at what point is a kickstarter device deemed ready to release? At hardwares completion? Once an os is installed? Perhaps once the device meets all its advertised specifications? None of the above? We could debate this for days. However, this thread has gotten so far off topic at this point, I'll leave it at that.
