No, there is no HDMI support for that
If you think that its not suppose to be for devices without a HDMI port then thats incorrect
The HTC EVO 3D has HDMI support but no HDMI port
Strange but yeah, sometimes the unexpected is expected.

Kinda confused by that post... Sorry. But Yeah the exp has hdmi support and so do a few other phones like the rezound... They require an Mhl adapter to be used for hdmi. I was just wondering if the same applies to this tablet

The Sony Tablet S or P does not support MHL.
so does this mean there's no capabilities for an external display on the sony tablet s??

Wait, what if someone can place such kernel modules onto the Sony Tablet S?
Will it work?
Or is it something to do with hardware?

If your display/TV has DLNA capabilities, it works like a charm.
If it doesn't, you can add to your TV something like DLNA-enabled Blu Ray player or Android stick.
Bingo, problem solved. External display works just fine.
Sorry to reply to this old threat, but I was searching gsmarena specs, and in sony tablet S 3G it says "TV out via MHL", but not for the non-3G version. I had the impression that besides the cellular chip there were no other differences..
Did something change with ICS update?
Cause I'm ready to get an MHL adaptor as I actually need HDMI out.

The only difference between the 3G variant and the WiFi variant is that the 3G version has an add in modem which plugs into a socket (If I'm not mixing up devices), and firmware. There is no MHL support.

I hear you, I agree with you, but here it says
TV-out (via MHL A/V link)

Yes and no. I think they just didn't bother to check the specifics of compatibility.

Are two that sell the one directly made for the Flyer using the extMicroUSB that it uses. The thing I am curious about is... if it's MHL, will a normal MHL cable work? Like the one for the Sensation?
Also the phonearena review actually tested this function and it seems to work fine:
http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/HTC-Flyer-Review_id2747/page/3
Nice thanks for the links
Apparently it can use a normal MHL cable. Here is a review of them where they use the adapter from the Samsung Infuse 4G. If you check out the video part it also shows that the flyer is capable of mirroring automatically. The output resolutions are 480p and 720p. I suggest checking it out because it's neat to see the flyer connecting to an HDTV
The fact that it can use a standard MHL adapter/cable is nice as it means options as far as pricing goes:

Hello guys i have one questions , because in house i have not WiFi and TV with DLNA but with HDMI and i found in net this accesorie Delock ADAPTER MHL(M)->HDMI(F)+USB MICRO(BF)
And it will be compatible with Sony Tablet S ?
I'm afraid not. The Tablet S doesn't support HDMI in any way.
I tried using the MHL adapter that works with my HTC Sensation but it freezes the tablet after some seconds and I have to reset it via the volume and power buttons so don't even try it.

XBOUNDS
Maybe Xbounds is a nice application which can replace the HDMI adapter. However it is not available yet. I got this information from the developer
"Bounds is not available for end-users yet, as it is not an app that can easily be installed on the phone.
We are talking to numerous cell phone makers and are confident that xBounds will become available by Q3 this year."
Maybe it will never be published for end-users as long as it is not integrated into the products of the cell phone makers...

Haven't tried myself (don't have an adapter) but others on the forum have tried and there doesn't appear to be any MHL capability at all. Sony would prefer you use DLNA to stream your content, so the omission of MHL makes sense.
It's an irritating absence, but we can't have everything

Yeah, but expecting that was dreaming pretty high. Sony's most innovative hardware has always been their most protected and locked down for multitude of reasons. If you need a highly extensible and customisable technology, skip the Sony offerings.

It's a wireless display technology, so you can broadcast video from your device to another display over WiFi.

Like you said, has to be a miracast enabled device. I don't know of any computer program to enable it. I believe the devices are mostly smart tv and some blu-ray players. I'm hoping the new chromecast will support it.

If the chromecast device works you'll have a smart tv for $35 assuming you live in the US. I don't think it is available outside of the us at the moment. The device is pretty small, around the size of a large USB thumb drive judging from the pictures and plugs into hdmi.

Awesome I do love in the us though I'm currently out of the country but I'll be back in 1 month. I'll have to look up this chrome cast. So you just plug it in your TV and it uses the TV as a monitor and sort of makes it a smart TV? Well if I understood right that's sweet especially for only 35 dollars.

They have added Miracast but the performance isn't great on my PTV3000. However, my PTV3000 is pretty terrible so it could easily be of no fault of the Nexus 10.

Chromecast does not support Miracast.
And given that it's only in the 2.4ghz range only, that's probably a good thing. In most of my use cases, you probably wouldn't want to use it without 5ghz.
It's designed a little differently though - instead of going from the internet, through the device, to your monitor/TV, Chromecast takes the content directly from the internet using your phone more like a remote. The quality of the stream should be much better.
But of course you lose the ability to mirror the screen of your device on your monitor/TV.
I prefer the better quality stream for most wireless streaming and will use my HDMI cable when I need a mirror as the performance was better with that anyway.
