HTC phablet to compete against Samsung Galaxy Note 1/2??? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

A couple months ago word broke that HTC was looking to break into the phablet market and today those claims are resurfacing again from numerous mobile tech sites. Specs include 1080p 5' screen and a quadcore S4 chip along with its own scribe pen. Do you think HTC can make a splash in this market, should it have sense or vanilla android and what specs do you want to see?

Also I forgot to add that so far reports claim it will be ready sometime between september and october, and may see a release on Verizon but that doesnt mean it might not show up on other carriers.

I do think its time for them to change sense. Maybe make it more transparent so it seems more like stock android.
IN BRIGHTEST DAY IN DARKEST NIGHT, NO APPLE GENIUS WILL WIN THIS FIGHT, LET THOSE WHO WORSHIP iOS's MIGHT BEWARE THE INNOVATION, GOOGLES MIGHT.

They just changed Sense for the better in Sense 4.0, and soon in Sense 4.1 which will improve on Sense further.
Edit: We also already have a thread about this somewhere with actual news posted.

Which Phones Will You Get?

So phone season's coming around and we have a good idea of the phones that will come to sprint. I'm wondering what phones you would get if/when you dump the Evo 3D.
-Galaxy Nexus
-SGSIII
-HTC OneX
If your are going to get a different phone, please tell us which it is in the comments.
Personally, I'd want the Galaxy SIII, but I've had nothing but good experiences with HTC (heh, misspelled THC the first time) so I might go for the OneX. Plus, a lot about the OneX seems pretty good.

Im shocked by the number of iphone supporters. Id never have guessed there were this many. Im interested in all four equally. Mostly because i wont pass judgement till i hold them. Excited as **** though.
If Apple wasn't so obsessed with having their OS all over their products, and the iPhone also had an android version, I would be all over that.
I think iOS is smooth and overall great, but it just feels too limited for me to use. Even after jailbreaking, you still feel like the whole OS is just an app drawer.
Just want something different been with HTC for awhile. It's not like I don't wait for official updates anyway. I feel like sense is always the same just more eye candy added in different versions

Think I'm going to go with the gnex. I'm very interested in the SIII, but my upgrade is up in June and I highly doubt Sprint will have it ready to go around then
right now its looking like the one x for me......unless I get wind if another powerhouse coming. One x rumored June so I'm going with the best available at that time so one x it is.
I can't really see me going Samsung so sgs3 is probably not an option. I'm liking the s4 specs and camera on the one x is a huge improvement. I see dev being great on that one.

My real Rezound modifications

You all know that douche Dallasskater. He is NOT my friend and never will be. I created an account to prove everything. He was telling everyone that I modified my rez extremely. Which I did but not that drastic. Then he started making it sounding like it was fake and made a poorly Photoshopped benchmark which looked bad.
All I did was make it slcd to slcd 2, upgraded to S4 1.7gh. No I did not upgrade the battery. I just saw a slim battery on amazon which was 1950mh and was for Rez so I bought it. No I did not install imagesense chip which I think he said I did. Mainly SLCD2 and S4 Chip. Also upgraded 2 Gig ram.
REAL Benchmark screenshot
I dont know what else to show you to prove. I can show whatever you want to prove I did except open up the phone. I had a hard time unscrewing the device the time I did because the grooves on the screws are bad and don't want to ruin them anymore.

fine I kind of figured no one would believe me. So I guess I wont be showing you how I did it then will I. Oh yea I forgot to tell you I work for HTC and I'm really not suppose to show you this or tell you about this. I suggested about a Rezound HD and showed it to rest of HTC but they decided not to and went to the One X+ because the original One X got more sales. I got to keep the prototype since I modded it.
I have a PhenomII X6, 26GB of RAM, the new LG Nexus motherboard and screen INSIDE my Rezound, and it transforms into the new 2013 Porsche Cayman. Also, because Android still sucks even the newest Jelly Bean, I installed iOS6.5 (The new developer beta version of iOS7, unreleased. I actually got this straight from an inside source inside of Apple
I am willing to prove it too, just tell me what you want to see, except for actual pictures. That isn't possible anymore because the phone is also now invisible, after I installed an invisibility cloak casing. Seriously though, I really did these mods. I'm super cool and you guys should all like me.

.... What about a development version of Android 4.1?
For our developer community, we plan to make generic development ROMs of Jelly Bean available for both the HTC One X and HTC One S. As soon as the ROMs are ready, they will be posted to our HTCdev site (www.htcdev.com). We strongly recommend customers take the time to understand the limitations of the development software along with the terms and conditions on the site before downloading to their device.

How many people like The HTC one

I'm curiously wondering how many of you xda a developers users, actually like the new HTC One? Personally I like the design, features such as the stereo speakers that are on the front and the new design of the back. I don't really know how I would like sense 5 considering sense 4 on Viper ROM 3.1 .0 is actually really really good so give me your thoughts

My wife isn't big on phones, as long as she can talk, text, and use the internet she's fine, she has her upgrade now so I'll be getting it and giving her my evo and if I don't like it I'll just switch back and give her the "one", and she has my og evo so I'll send that to htc for $100

I usually preorder my phones so I can have it on release day but this time I will wait to see if multitasking is back. If HTC disables this core function of Android again I will be going with another manufacture. Its ridiculous that if I am looking at a web page then check a text message then go back to the browser the page has to reload. I find this very infuriating, especially with all the power this phone is packing. Sense 5 doesn't look promising with the live tiles. Judging from the last couple of sense versions this release will be throw together also and won't be able to handle this new feature without studdering and serious lag.

It's ok... The best thing is the speakers... All phones speakers should face you... It just makes sense. But other that I don't see anything special about compared to the new up coming phones. So are the windows essentially just widgets u could add to the screen?
I'm really drawn to the hd screen, extra ram, and extra storage. I also really love HTC's camera software.
The one drawback is the apparent lack of mSD expansion. As a systems engineer, I carry enough gear with me, so I often use my phone at job sites, carrying suites of software tools, ISOs, etc. That's in addition to the usual books, music, etc. So not having more than 64gb of storage that doesn't rely on the cloud will be a PitA (all too often, I'm in reception blackholes).
I know it'll come in 32 and 64gb flavors, but I really hate paying the premium for higher storage capacity consumption devices/phones.
If the Evo flavor ever does come to fruition, I have to hope that it comes with a microSD slot. Further, if it is released, I'll hold off getting one. I'm pretty happy with the 4g LTE and the price will drop in like 3 months anyway.
I'm in the same boat as you, I like having expandable storage. I can't always rely on cloud services. It's actually quite a debate. Some people like to flame others for wanting an sd card slot. I don't get it. Since I use my phone for work, mp3 player, and camera, the more storage I can get the better. I don't always have data and life is too busy too constantly swap what I have in my storage.
I tend to agree with many of the points raised here. Lack of external storage is rough, as is losing the kickstand. Also, while the new camera has better low light, i think 4MP is too low to allow for cropping. I'd have preferred a camera as good as Lumia 920.

Have you seen their stock and internal turmoil lately? they NEED to show that devotion for customer retention, otherwise they will truly kick the bucket.
I have a suggestion for HTC or build in more functionality to Sense or scrap it and go straight to plane native Android UI and let people customize it how they wan't I think that its one of the things that is holding this phone (and all their future phones back)

I highly disagree. I just think HTC would allow S-OFF via HTC Dev like they do bootloader. I just converted my TMO HTC One to GPE HTC One just so I can get the latest and greatest Kit Kit when it comes out. And guess what about 90 days from now I will be converting back to TMO HTC One Stock Kit Kat.
I personally like how Sense is setup, it is fluid and minimalistic. It now has the ability to turn off Blink Feed so it is even better. I just wish HTC would give users the option to interchangeable select which OS they want without having to go through pains of making sure you can obtain a S-OFF phone.

I just wish HTC would give users the option to interchangeable select which OS they want without having to go through pains of making sure you can obtain a S-OFF phone.

I can say that in the middle of our disagreement I can agree with you about Sense, because that's one of the big reasons I pick HTC over any other provider. Now I do know this: everyone, everywhere says the same thing over and over "our phones are as powerful as that computer sitting on your desk" and the sad part is that it's true! But I feel that power hasn't been harnessed yet; there are so much more I feel that are phones should do and currently don't (txt and browse the web at the same time, of for that fact do anything in combination at the same time, and so much more)
And before I get slapped with the statement "Sammy does that", I know... I just feel that with the hardware we have today (which is pretty much the same across all phones, just minor difference like amounts of memory vs screen size and so on...) it wouldn't be a purchasing factor between manufactures but a standard thing in Android....

another forum has a flashable rom. you need the most up to date cwm recovery to flash. GE as well. im not sure what i can say on this forum. if its just linking to another forum or what. but head over to rootzwiki. they have everything you'll need there. its not 100% perfect but it gets the job done
I'm still in love with my HTC One and I have no idea why it didn't have more of an impact when released.
Apparently HTC is struggling with all it's other phones, they might as well perfect one phone like they did with the One.
What does everyone think?
Also I currently have kit kat installed on my One, if you want the ROM I can link you.

Errors
You're always gonna get some errors with a unofficial release. I too was running kitkat on my HTC One. The problem is the playstore. A lot of apps aren't available yet. But we don't have much longer to wait, HTC gave there software for the GPe HTC One to Google. Just have to wait for a release and a rom to be created by the great developers.
