Try to find another version of the driver. That one obviously isn't supported by Windows 8.
P.S. What's windows 8 like?
P.P.S Alexandria, awesome

Is the x64 system? Drivers too?
Just restart in "advance mode" in PC Settings... Then desative "Driver Signature" or something like that... Then install driver...
Btw, win8 is just awesome!!!!

Nope, you all are wrong..
You need to do this:
Code:
As a new security measure in Windows 8, unsigned drivers are automatically blocked.
Happily, there’s a way round this problem too. If you go to the Advanced Startup app in Windows 8, you can choose to reboot the computer with Advanced Startup options enabled. You’ll then be given the opportunity to boot into various troubleshooting modes, including Safe Mode, Debugging Mode and the snappily-named “Disable Driver Signature Enforcement” mode.

I have a related problem,
I have installed everything, without problems, but when I plug in my phone in fastboot mode, adb devices doesn't find anything.
I hear a sound from my computer, saying something is connected, but I cannot reach my phone. In the windows 8 preview from before June, everything worked just fine, but since I updated to the consumer preview, it doesn't work any longer.

Of course you don't see anything with adb devices. You need to use fastboot devices.

Doesn't give me anything either
---------- Post added at 03:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:35 PM ----------
When my phone is connected normally, when it's turned on, and I ask for adb devices, it gives me something about starting up daemon, and then the device showing up is 0123456789ABCDEF, which I find a little weird.
When I turn off my phone, and connect in fastboot mode, fastboot devices gives me nothing. When I try to flash a ROM anyway, it just says waiting for device.
I'm no pro in this, but I managed to flash my phone several times before and everything worked just fine then. I don't know what the problem is here, I guess it's something with Windows 8 consumer preview.

I managed to flash my neo when I dualbooted in Ubuntu, did everything there.
Still wondering what the problem is in windows 8 though

I am using Windows8 Release Preview! I had the same sort of problem I used the driver installer from flashtool! Everything is working now! Fastboot and flash mode!

Hey, I did exactly the same things, and my setup is partially working. Flashmode is working, I can use Flashtool, but when I connect my phone in Fastboot mode, Windows 8 Pro shows me this error: "One of the USB Devices has Malfunctioned". The ADB drivers are installed, but this is the error:
Code:
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
A request for the USB BOS descriptor failed.
Any ideas? I don't want to dual boot Windows 7 just for this purpose.. Any help would be appreciated.!

From the Metro Start Screen, open Settings (move your mouse to the bottom-right-corner of the screen and wait for the pop-out bar to appear, then click the Gear icon).
Click ‘More PC Settings’.
Click ‘General’.
Scroll down, and click ‘Restart now’ under ‘Advanced startup’.
Wait a bit.
Click ‘Troubleshoot’.
Click ‘Advanced Options’
Click ‘Windows Startup Settings’
Click Restart.
???
Profit!
When your computer restarts, select ‘Disable driver signature enforcement‘ from the list. You can now load your modified driver. Reboot again once the driver is installed and all will be well.
works on me

[HELP] Getting PC To Recognize My adb Device!!

I've tried everything. IT WILL NOT recognize my phone.
When trying to install the drivers it says the Authenticode does not have permission. I got the damn drivers directly from Android.com but it still doesn't think its authentic. Because of this, o cannot get the computer to recognize it as an adb device to root the phone.
I'm going nuts now. 2 days with literally 8 to 10 hours of trying with no success.
Can someone please please PLEASE help me?
I was having the same issue. Install PDAnet. Works like a charm. The program installs the drivers for you. You can uninstall the program after you get the drivers working if you'd like.

Vista.
I've tried a few of those suggestions and non of worked. Most involved the bcedit trick but its disabled or doesn't exist in the newer security updates.
Vista 32 bits or Vista 64bits ?
in hardware management console what do you see ? yellow question mark ?
Sometimes you need to go in it and find your device to check the HID number and copy it manually in the driver *..inf files to be detect by your OS.
I remembered doing this for my G1 long time ago (years).
If you can, get your hands on another n1 or android device to see if its a hardware problem with the phone, which i doubt. Also try a diff OS.

In case you have Windows 7 you can try the following.
http://www.killertechtips.com/2009/...gning-in-windows-7-using-group-policy-editor/
Are you installing the usb drivers using the utility in ADB? If not, delete the drivers in hardware manager, and try installing them with the utility.
I had no problems doing this on Vista, but I prefer to use ADB on Linux.

hey .
maybe i´ve got something for you.
download my file here
install the binaries and then reboot (i said you don't have to, but i think in your case it would be better)
EDIT: is the debug function enabled in your device?
OK, after a few hours and still no success with Vista, I went to storage and pulled out my personal PC I built that hasn't run in a few years thanks to corrupt hard drives.
I spent 4 hours repairing and fixing the hard drives and SUCCESS, I got it to detect it on my Windows XP PC.
NOW! Still not working! In the command prompt, it shows adb devices as one connected but still when I do an adb push nothing happens. Just recycles the adb menu....
Any suggestions?
Your first mistake is using a PC that you know is not working properly. Try a known working pc.

Try using a Linux distribution. Saves a lot of time and headache.

You can try edit your build.prop and disable setup function.
But make backup. For editing you can use file managers or some apps.

It seems you have driver problem.
try 'fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version'
if it returns something like 0,3 it means drivers are installed correctly.

I had a similiar problem, though not the same. It was fixed after a reboot of my Windows 7 x64. I think my computer had problems dealing with the USB being connected and disconnected an awful lot. I have no idea if this is where your problem comes from, but it might help if you're like me and prefer leaving your computer on at all times.
Also, if you're quite new to rooting and flashing, and aren't that interested in learning the ins and outs of it, I recomend using Flashtool [1] for flashing to an earlier version of stock Android, rooting your Android, easy booting in fastmode and flashing your kernel. The only use I've found for fastboot.exe is to unlock your bootloader [2] (official guide by Sony Mobile), though I might be missing out on something (while I actually do not believe I have).
Please keep us posted.

Had similar problem!
First couldn't get into fastboot, had problem installing S1 driver. Changed the USB port on my PC and it asked to install the S1 again. Chose the directory where it was and voila.
Now I have to use 2 different USB port for fast boot and flashmode. Little annoying but I got used to it.
Try it, it may work for you.
Reinstalling Windows should be your last step, especially a stable OS as Win 7!
P.s. Why don't you use Flashtool? In it's newer version there's a *.exe (under drivers folder) file that automatically install all needed drivers.

Might want to try the steps listed here: https://nookdeveloper.zendesk.com/entries/22167968-Ubuntu-Linux-Getting-ADB-working
I have the phone drivers installed for windows 7.
I Have the vbox addons installed
Then I just checked the phone under usb devices
As far as software, I installed Java and the Android sdk using the guide above (Steps 1-7).
Once I had the SDk installed I was able to:
cd ~/android-sdk-linux/platform-tools
./adb devices
And it showed the phone connected.
Can you get adb to work manually? Maybe the script needs to be tweaked to update the path to adb.

Also just thought
Do you have HTC sync installed? If so try uninstalling it.
Do you have any autoplay options set when you plug in your phone? I get two auto play windows when I plug mine in. I just close them.

My Xperia X10 stock at SE Logo and nothing can detect it ! Please Help

Hi everyone
i have a very rare problem with my x10 which is stocked at Sony Ericsson logo.
the problem is caused by flashing FeraLab Rom without flashing the FeraKernel before that. I didnt knew kernel is a most and should be installed first and that started to fuc my phone..
after that i tried everything in the net, installed everything that was related to xperia x10 drivers to get it detected by the PC but it just doesnt work and im still having the damn problem.
i tried using sony companion, sony update service ( which i guess doesnt support sony ericsson phones anymore ) to repair and anything els. but they're not helping me either.
I just need some help here to get my xperia x10 get detected by the windows 7 and flashtools/sony companion to repair it and reflash the roms.
right now when i connect it to pc it just says Unknown Device detected and by trying to updating driver with sdk tool and everything els, it still has problems. another message i get during this process is USB Device Not Recognized.
if any expert here have solutions for me, please give it to me, im stuck on this for about 1 week and you may know what that make me feel..

you need to connect your device in flash mode in order to install this drivers. To do this, first turn off your X10 and unplug it from your PC. Then press and hold back button and connect the phone to PC USB port. You should see black screen and green LED on, and the PC should find a new device called "SEMC HSUSB Device". Now install on this new founded device drivers from above.

try to disable digital signature requirement using this method:
Method 1.
Go to Start Menu and type "cmd.exe" in the Search Bar and press <Enter>. (Remember you must be logged on as Administrator)
OR you can go to "All Programs", then "Accessories", right-click on "Command Prompt" and choose "Run as administrator".
1. Now type the following and press <Enter> after each line:
bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON
2. Restart your computer
3. This will disable your Windows 7 driver signing.
4. Install the driver for your device (X10i)
If this did NOT work for you, here is another way to disable Windows 7 driver signing.
Method 2.
1. During boot-up, continuously press <F8> to get to Advanced Boot Options. Note: On some systems, you need to first press <F2> to go into Boot Menu, then press <F8> to reach Advanced Boot Options.
2. When the menu appears, use the DOWN arrow key to scroll to “Disable Driver Signature Enforcement.”
3. Press <Enter>.
4. Continue the boot process.
5. After your computer has completed the boot process, try to install the driver for your device.
Hope this helps..
