I am running CM 9.0.0-RC2-quincyatt on my Note I717.
I just received the Samsung car dock and when I place the Galaxy note in it and go into Settings -> Dock, the phone is not docked? Any tips?
Thanks
mine does the same thing. i just plug the 3.5mm cable directly into the phone instead of the dock. not perfect but does the job

That's not the problem I have... On my Nexus One when running CM9, when I put the phone in the dock, it would automatically detect the dock and went into "Docked" mode, which would automatically start the Google Car Mode app (which btw, where did that app go, I can't find in on the market?).
mine goes into car mode but not dock mode so i have no audio output when its docked. thats why i used the audio out cable directly from the phone instead of the dock. sorry if i wasnt clear earlier

I've had the same problem with CM9 as well. If you can find the Google Car Mode app, and install it, that will be launched when in the dock, but the audio never outputs to the dock's external jack.
Anyone tested CM10 to see if it is any different?
XDA is no longer worth my time.

Hi. I am going to be buying a car CD player that has an auxiliary connection. Tired of using an fm tuner with so much interference around. Went to the store to get one and saw some players have a USB slot on them. Can I use this slot with my vibrant to charge it as well a play music through it. Should I cough up the extra dough for it or will it be useless with my phone. should I just get a cheaper one with just an aux connector.
Thanks
I'm not entirely sure that a usb through an audio interface will give you a recharge current,
I think the usb connection will only transfer audio though I could be wrong

What you could do is use your current charger (should have a usb side) and plug it into a display head unit to see if it charges
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
You *should* be able to use USB to essentially have your phone look like a USB flash drive. But some units don't like the vibrant and therefore won't work. Also, most head units follow a USB spec to the letter, meaning it more than likely won't charge your.phone very well due to there not being enough current output to compensate for your phone's current drain.

Hi guys. This is what i use as an FM transmitter for my Galaxy and Vortex in my car. If you see on the picture there is an iphone charger included on the phoneholder. I was wondering if there is something that has micro usb charger instead of the iphone charger.
Any help would be appreciated.
I just found a bunch by just searching for "fm transmitter micro usb" on Amazon.

thank you for your reply. Did you find one that has micro usb charger built in on the phone holder. Most of them that I found have either iphone charger cable or none at all.But what I am looking for is a car holder with fm transmitter that replaces the iphone charger and uses micro usb.
Oh and i have an ipod touch that plays music stored on the ipod via fm as soons as i charge it using the iphone charger cable.
I hope u understood my english as english is not my first language.

Basically something like this but with built in fm transmitter
Quality isn't cheap lol. I get the idea your after maybe were looking in the wrong places for the price you want to pay. Let's try eBay

Looked on ebay.. Didn't find it. All i can find is with built in iphone charger. Well I guess I'm gonna have to cut the iphone cable on my car holder and try to solder micro usb on it.
I hope it works.
But if anybody finds one with built in microusb let me know.
Well you could get the dock for the phone and just buy a wireless radio transmitter that sets on the phone

Why's it gotta be with a BUILT-IN microUSB? Why can't you use the cable that came with your phone? I'd go with the link I posted in a heartbeat. Sure, you'd need to sacrifice a microUSB cable, but the 2.5mm is built-in. It's also $10.50 free 2day ship. I'm checking out my cart as we speak.

I have one already with the built in iPhone charger..And I paid like 8 bucks a year ago.the reason why I want with built in microusb is my iPod charges and at the same time transmits my music through FM channel. I also don't have to carry aux jack to listen to my music since its plays my music via FM station. I don't have to carry my iPod charger to charge.
I was wondering if I could do the same with my Galaxy and Vortex.
You have to remember iPhones are not the same style phones as ours. Yes they have a headphone jack but there charger is meant to transfer data to play music while ours is just PC to phone and charge I doubt its designed to out put any type of audio through the charging port. The one I linked is all built in but the price is a tad high. You'll have to choose what will work best but like I said an iPhone style dock is going to be impossible I think

Understood. But do you think this might work????
I'm not sure what the specifics of the item are but it may be worth a shot if not you can always return it
Contact the seller and ask if it will be able to stream music to your radio through an iPhone dock or if it is just a charger

Best FM Transmitter ever
I just found this on WOWparts.com for only $10.68. It is way better than I have expected for the price. The transmitter is compatible with USB, 3.5 mm and even the SD card. Easy to handle. I drive a lot and this transmitter has made the driving less boring with music. Highly recommend for everyone.
I had no idea so many people still used FM transmitters.
Anyone else have an MHL cable not working with the Note 2?i just bought one it connects shows picture plays sound, then cycles through resolutions until it shows again, rinses and repeats. I don't get it, checked settings (there really aren't any) and everything seems ok. Any suggestions? I also tried connecting and restarting, connecting phone first/last still same crap.. No bueno

I have the official Samsung 11 pin MHL cable and it works perfectly fine every time. Don't really understand what is going wrong for you, but if you bought a 3rd party cable based on my experience in the past with a Galaxy Nexus and 3rd party cables I know this has a negative effect on usage.
Samsung MHL cable for S3/Note 2... Bought from eBay, but came in oem box, cable is branded what looks real.. Hmm

I've been reading a couple of articles about the nexus wireless charger and was wondering is it compatible with our device?
Short answer no. N4 has it build into the phone, there is no such for us
If someone tries the touchstone mod, but that requires a lot of work and soldering, etc; not sure if it would even work either
Ehh yea that's alright with me really just a gimmicky product. Says wireless charging but really it has to connect to a wall outlet for power so really its just a kickstand for the phone. If it had speakers then maybe they would be on to something

That would be wireless charging. You're not plugging it in, just the dock.

But does it charge the device from a distance, or do you have to actually physically place the device on he dock? If it's the later, then it is most definitely not wireless. You may not have to plug anything into the phone, but if it can't charge without coming into contact with the wired dock, what's the point? I already have a wire that connects to the phone without a dock between it and the wall.

In my case it is very convenient because I don't have tons of space at school, so my plugs are behind my bed, desk etc. and the power cord is tough to reach/unplug every time I need to take it somewhere. Also in an office type setting where you don't have to fumble through cords, and you can just let it sit docking and just pick it up and go. Techincally it is wireless, as you don't have to plug any wires into the phone.
I guess it's convenient when you don't like cords but me I would just by an extra charger or a dock and have for home or office use and one for the road which I sorta have already just need a dock.

I find wireless charging is good for keeping your usb from taking so much wear and tear.
Has anyone found a good car dock for the s4? I'm not looking for a car holder, but a real dock that the phone will slide into and will have a hard mounted usb connection on the bottom for charging the phone while in the dock. Something with bluetooth audio would be a bonus. I'm basically tired of having to plug in my usb and 1/8th inch jacks every time. I'd like to just dock the phone and have everything connected.
I see tons of cheap desktop docks on ebay, but nothing for the car.
Check out ibolt dock. I haven't gotten the phone yet but i saw that somewhere.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I've been looking myself and haven't found one yet. Even the iBolt one needs you to plug it in everytime.
Hopefully something will come up.
