Hi Guys,
I am using Motorola Photon 4g (Sprint) in india with Airtel GSM. Im getting network... calls messages all working good.
However data/internet is not working. I have made the manual setting on APN. But still not working. Please help me with this.

Make sure your network data is turned on and data usage settings are correct. As long as your apn's are correct it will work.

Ive called the customer service.. got the APN checked twice...the roaming data is enabled..allow GSM data is checked...but still no luck....

Even I face the same issue. No GSM connectivity as of now.

atlast fould a solution.. just install an app called tweakker from google play.

select the country as india, operator as airtel, the settings as "airtel".. woila.. it will work.. tested on my motorola photon 4G .. it worked..

Ok here's the deal, over the past week or so, sort of mid afternoonish time, I lose the ability to call, text or use data on my handset her signal remains constant. A quick fix to this is changing a setting in network from auto to GSM only which I am told logs off 3g and uses the 2g network yet once I switch to GSM only texts and calls return to normal. I've tried a new sim card from vodafone which didn't change the problem and I was wondering if anyone has had simalar problems and could maybe share a fix, as I don't want to keep my phone on 2g as its very slow.

Im a bit of a noob at this android thing but do you maybe need to import your carriers data settings? I had a look on my sgs2 but couldn't find them. On my old iphone you had to enter the carriers settings to access the 3g network

try a different modem. as some modems are region specific.

menu - settings - wireless and network - mobile networks - access point -
I've tried between ki3 and ki4, previous firmwares have used the ki3 modem more recently in intras frankenstien firmware. But my problem is more recent. This couldn't be an efs problem could it?

first i was able to use the mobile internet but after some time i am not.

its unlocked i got from ebay.
Check your Internet APN settings or try Tweakker app from the market

i am also planning to get it from ebay.in ....
what are your thoughts about this phone?
is USSD code able to run? (for eg. can you check balance and activate packs by dialing *121#)
i read on forum that this is not supported by photon 4g ?
also check whether wi-fi hotspot works or not?

@ prot0n84 : well actually i configured the APN settings it worked for few minutes but i keep getting error messages that a network problem occurred retry or cancel.
i am not able to use this continuously. Is der some defect in the cell or what?

yes there is some problem in running USSD codes. rest it works great!!!

Don't know if this helps at all, but it is good to occasionally reset your PRL's according to where you live.

Thanks in advance for helping. I am planning to buy a used Motorola Droid Razr XT 912 (verizon) phone for my brother. We are on GSM network. I am not clear if I upgrade to ICS GSM will be unlocked and works full like a GSM phone or not.
Will there be any issues like data not working/3G not working etc?
Quick help will be greatly appreciated as I have to confirm to prospective seller!

You need not to install GSM patch..ICS has enabled the global functionality of the phone.
GSM works flawless except of one problem ( call divert does not work)

OK.got the phone. After ICS update data works just fine. Its now truly global phone. You can change the network mode through settings.

Afaik..it works on att.
Dial *#*#info#*#* and select network mode to WCDMA preferred.

i have a 2 droid razrs and 1 droid razr maxx. all with clean esn's. i tried the *#*#info#*#* when i selected "wcdma preferred" the menu closed and it stayed on "unknown" infact it wouldnt let me select anything other than unknown. i attempted this with my att sim card installed. am is there something else i should try? also you stated that it is confirmed working with att? where did you see this? thanks in advance!

That's a negative batman! Just to be clear. My steps
1) turned phone off
2) inserted active AT&T micro sim
3) turned phone on
4) dialed *#*#info#*#*
5) selected phone info
6) turned radio off
7) selected wcdma preferred
8) turned radio back on
9) pressed home key
10) went into network options
11) selected gsm/umts
12) tried to make a call

I have rooted, installed apn manager, so the 2G and 3G are working on GSM Vodafone India,
tried two different stock roms, but Alas, NO Voice or Sms!
Tried different GSM network sim cards too.
Any clues? Any one?

You need to manually add the APNs for the network, just installing the app isn't enough.

already added, i think i already mentioned, APN is already added n 2G/3G is working, ONLY VOICE N SMS are not working!

Ask the carrier what APN settings you need to get voice and SMS to work.
Thanks everyone, but we do not need APNs for working of voice or sms!

Does the Sprint One Max data function still work while on a voice call? I recently switched to the Samsung Galaxy S5 and discovered that data shuts off when I answer or place a call. Does that happen on the Max as well??

If you are on 3G/4G/LTE then data should work but if you are on 2G (EDGE) network then it data wont work.
However, this feature is network provider dependednt as well. If your network provider haven't provisioned this feature on network on 3G/4G/LTE then data might not work.
Usually I have seen data not working only on 2G coverage areas. Rest it works on 3G and above.

Are you Sprint?
Could be wrong but I remember verizon and sprint could not use data while on a call due to network...like if i called you and send you an mms while on call youd have to wait till disconnected to get the mms,hense no data while on a call....

On sprint no data on call on Verizon there is data on call.

No bro I am not in US. But in my country and on my Network Provider data keeps working while I am on a Voice Calls

The answer is no on Sprint for this and a few other phones made around the same time. They are tri band and switch off from data to voice when needed and back when needed. Other phones in the past have had simultaneous voice and data, but this one does not.
