I have two RCA 23 & 19 and in none of the tv's works when I plug the phone, I even tried it in huge SONY 40 in one hotel I had to spend the night once and didn't work neither.
But what do works is:
1 Plug the phone to the tv.
2 Change the HDMI source in the tv ( if you haven't)
3 Shutdown the tv.
4 Turn on the tv. Voila!!!
Let me know if it works. And like this or doesn't matters what settings you have, at least in mine always displays 720p.
The downside it's that the phone screen its always on( I guess we have to see in the screen what we press) and my remote doesn't work( cheap tv). Maybe one HDMI remote will do.

Thanks but turning the tv off and on again but it didnt work. I have to change resolution all the time. And in terms of remote it doesnt work on my lg tv downstairs either
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
My phone puts my tv into 1080/24p by default, I would imagine your tv dosnt support the default phone resolution. It's a shame the service menu settings don't save as 1080/24p is no use for me either, its fine for watching video content but anything like a game has terrible input lag
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
It works fine at 720p/60 but I have to keep setting it everytime on my tv upstairs. My downstairs tv it works fine on 720p and 1080/24

This thing is Nice!!! because it's not in the dock I can now use the phone as a true track pad.
I diggit! worth the few bucks it cost IMO.
forgive my ignorance...
you plug this into the usb and hdmi ports on the photon. you plug in the micro hdmi and power supply micro-usb output to the adapter?
Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk
Ignorance forgiven. My understanding is that with just the micro hdmi cable you wont have access to the webtop application unless you root and mess around with the phone. This is a cheaper solution than the hd dock

does the adapter set the usb port to host mode so usb peripherals can still be used?

I dont see the point of this. As long as you have to buy the hdmi cable anyway just hook it up directly to the tv. Bluetooth keyboard works with bluetooth keyboard app (I have not tried bluetooth mouse as of yet).
pigphish:
i have not had good luck with bt keyboards and mice.
they both tend to go unresponsive intermittently and that makes them difficult to use.
this was with multiple photons and a keyboard and mouse that worked perfectly on other computers.

Have you tried pressing 0000 or something similar. I had to do this blindly. There is a post on XDA that discusses this.
Also, how can I get the webtop app if I am root without the gadgets?

this isn't a pairing issue, they pair with no issue. but the mouse and keyboard go unrrsponsive frequently but work fine with a pc.

I find that if you use USB OTG then the PS3 controller will sometimes get confused and refuse to connect or turn on. I then have to plug it into a PS3 for a second to bring it back to life. The same problem occurs if you try to use the PS3 controller on your PC. The PS3 controller is also annoying to use if you have a PS3 as it likes to turn the PS3 on when the controller powers on. A cheap gamepad might be a better solution.

Is it real to connect a Guitar Hero guitar-"gamepad" to this phone?
I was thinking just a cable that plugs into my phone that has an HDMI plug on the other end. Is this correct or is there more to it? I basically want to watch Netflix on my large television instead of my Note when possible. Thanks.

Its the Samsung MHL adapter that came with my Infuse when I bought it..
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005LGUDKK
A lot of people on the amazon reviews say its not a real Samsung adapter that its a knock off..
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung---MHL-to-HDMI-Adapter/4875824.p?id=1218562661020&skuId=4875824

My TV is a Phillips 47" from 2008. I have the Samsung 2.0 MHL adapter. About 2cm is cut off from every edge. It does this when I connecto my computer to HDMI as well, but I can go into display settings on my computer and adjust it. I'm currently on BMc's 7/14 AOKP build. It did this with my GNex as well and I was never able to figure out a fix.

Is your tv set too zoom in or any special "Format" mode? like 16x9 or anything?
You need to get into your Philips menu/settings. If there is a picture heading, go there and mess around with size/zoom. I can only speak on Samsung and Sony but it seems to me your t.v. isn't set to display 1920 by 1080 right now or you have it zoomed. Make sure it is in 16 by 9.

This is what i was getting at with my post, just mess with those settings and im sure you will be able to figure it out.
P.s. the new Sony and Samsung T.V.s(maybe others) come with HDMI ports especially labeled for MHL they allow you to use your remote to highlight/operate apps.
Example would be to open the video app and play a video without ever touching your phone. That is what mhl 2.0 adapter has that 1.0 doesn't.
