Edit: In answer to your question, I seriously doubt you're going to get anywhere with it as you can't just make a quick edit and it works - they're very different frameworks. I suggest you look for an ICS compatible version of whatever app it is.

What's the best way to update a ROM like MIUI from my phone? Right now i get on the XDA app, navigate to the ROM thread and click on the link to download; then I open it via ROM manager.
Anyone got a better way? I have a feeling i'll need to do this quite often with the MIUI ROM being constantly updated and all. I saw the developers took the OTA updates out so... i dunno

MIUI is updated within the Rom Manager app. Go into Rom Manager>Download Rom> and MIUI is in there. Simply download and flash it like normal.
Maybe I'm just nitpicking, but shouldn't this be basic knowledge to someone with enough activity to post in the dev section? For the same reason, shouldn't it be obvious that posting this in the dev section is like violating the first rule of Fight Club??? There are MULTIPLE stickies with this info that people spent good time and effort on putting together for the community. You could at least read those before posting without searching. I'd recommended re-reading the site rules before anything else though...

I'm not entirely sure what you mean, if you didn't find what you were looking for in the Q/A or Themes/App section, you're most definitely not going to find it here. What you're looking for is usually pre-baked into custom ROMs.
The dev forum isn't the place to ask questions, just for future reference.

Inside of the ROM thread I'm more than likely to get an audience who already has the Rogers version supplied with the ROM. I'm not looking for the ROM version but rather the original version. Yes this is in support if the ROM but as a request to a broader audience who may be able to help out, therefore development related.

If you've read the thread at all you would see that my request is in direct support of SAUROM and the possibility of APN/network issues being resolved by usage of the original Settings.apk. Therefore it is considered development, not just some whacked off request for some easily obtained apk.

Actually we need the one fomr TPC 's verison , the one in stock att note will be odexed and that will not work

Im trying out different roms and ive fell in love with the ICS AOSP messenger app and calender. idk if anyone has one or can make one for me and the community here but id greatly appreciate it if you would share one.
back when i was on the EVO scene they had one you could flash over any rom and would replace the apps, without you having to push them and change the permissions.
Please keep all question based threads in the Q&A section.

We have an asop-like rom, There is a cm9 beta in the development thread. You do realize how easy it is to just look at the rom's and decide from those..

maybe the title is misleading, ive tried 3 of the AOSP-ish roms we have available (senseless ones) they are cool but i just want a zip with the AOSP calender, browser, and messenger app, not an entire new rom.... just the apps that is in a flashable zip.

Right on, I don't know about those roms. Li siento.. Great idea! It would be good to grab a nexus rom, and pull those apks from the zip file. If you do that you should be able to push them into the system and install. Maybe ask a developer to help you out. I know eclipse is a good try.

There are many new roms coming up, guys are really doin their best to work their rom lyk charm... When a rom is released a new topic is opened, then all the questions are asked over same place ..the topic get flooded with replies.. if the creator adds up any new update to that rom then it gets really hard to find it as it has already gone several pages away..so any guy who wants to find a anything related to that particular rom, then he has to search through several pages to get it..its reallly a headache....
Soo...solution
Themer wil create a new topic for his rom and for his updates and create same name topic in q&a section for discussion... Strictly no posting of any topic related discussion in theme section...any topic related posting in theme section wil be deleted or directly moved to q&a section...
So it wil be lot more easy to find any roms and their updates

He is saying, create a regular Q&A topic and a dev talk topic
i really dont understand the meaning of this post but on the line difficult to find updates and all in a rom thread you can simply hit page 1 where devs of rom reserve few posts for future updates and changelog or just hit the << button if its a lot of pages and pronto u get your updates and as for the Q&A goes it just helps us to instantly look upon reviews of the rom and any bugs faced by anyone in the same thread instead of multiple threads... am not criticizing the OP here just a thought

I understand what he meant but he introduced his idea with a problem which is not a problem at all...any dev will make updates on the 1st post, wich is easiest to find
