I am very interested in making a theme for our awesome AOSP ROMs that we have so far. I am only familiar with the normal or old way of themeing.. I have never made a theme chooser theme before. I have never used Eclipse, I usually just extract with APK Multi-Tools and change XML with Notepad ++ and edit icons with Paint.NET. I have opened a few existing t-c themes and realized I don't know anything about this stuff.. lol Any good guides out there you could point me to? I tried to Google the subject and all the threads just have themes to download, can't find any guides. I have never made an apk from scratch before.. don't know if that is where I have to start?
**EDIT: May have found a better place to start

Any other suggestions are welcome.
Above post says to use androidian.apk as a template which I think is only in CM7, anybody know what the cm9 equivalent is?
**EDIT: May have found a working template for CM9/AOKP XHDPI/HDPI.. Will give it a try

Does anyone know where I can find a complete list of possible xml variables for the theme files?
As of right now, I'm mainly interested in all possible values for theme.mtz>com.miui.home>theme_values.xml but a complete list would be just as well.
Thanks
Maybe im starting a little bit above my head but I've finally been able to create my own builds of roms from source stock and cm thanks to all the info here which is pretty amazing the only time i run into problems is when i try to venture off into the custom world. My question is i guess I see so many references from devs to this and the updater script for obvious reasons i just wanted to know what it was and why their so important in the rom itself and in tweaks. Most importantly though where can i go to learn how to understand this stuff
What exactly is your question? The updater-script is like a manifest for the installation of the rom, it controls what gets copied where, and sets permissions. I'm sure it can/does do more, but I don't know too much myself. As far as the framework-res.apk goes, it is the "framework" for the rom. So among other things it hase the core color, animation, dimensions, etc xml's. It also has some of the system png's. I'll try to find some links, as I haven't really look before. Anyone else feel free to chime in with more info, or correct me if I'm wrong.
For updater-script, might want to look in my signature

I spent the morning making Redirections for touchwiz to be compatible with xthemer.
For those who know what your doing feel free to download the redirections, unzip, then open with 7zip and copy to the android.xml in your ported theme.
I ported crimson cobalt this morning, and here are the results.
Running: Novella Rom
For More Screenshots go HERE
Last but not least here is the link to the Redirections. Also make sure you visit the G+ community and thank Ruqq for developing xthemer.
You will also find links on the community page on how to install and use xthemer.
I am currently waiting on permission from the developer of Crimson Cobalt to share the apk.
Finally, I'm sorry for the sloppy op but I've been on the computer all day and I need to get up, just wanted to get this out there so we could get some more themes ported over for our Note's.
Upon researching further, I have found the the stock dialer needs some work. The # 1 is a different color than the rest and "contacts" isn't properly theming. Probably a few edits need to be made in the redirections xml. I will be working on these issues plus I will be flashing a stockish rom (something I never do) just so I can ensure that all of the issues are ironed out. Any help on this would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Epic! Love to see the finished product

please help thank you
I've tried just about every rom and kernel on this site for my Xgo, and I've found AOSX 4.4.4 to be the best overall. Problem is, there's no settings option for themes. I really like the Android L theme from this thread, (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xper...-apps-t2798153), so I've been messing around with trying to get it to take on my AOSX rom. I've tried Apktool, and HKthemer, trying to modify the Theme.apk and the phone's framework-res.apk, but always come up with errors about not finding source for files. The biggest part of the problem is that I don't know what I'm doing, but I've hit it lucky taking chances enough times before that I'm willing to keep trying. Any Ideas?
(I know that I could easily install a different launcher with a similar theme, but for one, I don't like additional launchers, and for two, I just want to figure it out)
Thanks
Hello, I would like to customize the phone more to my preferences and I would like to edit the systemui etc, I've tried looking for systemui, but just couldn't find it, I am using aosp extended, and when I looked for the systemui.apk in the system folder, its just not there. I used to work a bit with those things a few years back, but I don't know if its different because miui is maybe built differently or just android changed the way files are compiled or anything. Anyway, if someone could shortly explain to me how to edit miui/any custom rom system files, or give me a guide that fits miui, I would really appreciate it, thanks.
anyone pls? :\
