HTC Evo is a epic failure.... - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Sorry HTC but you fail. Lets first start off by saying I was by your side in the beginning. But after awhile you realize how much of a dog the EVO is. Unfortunately most wont realize the magnitude of failure till you own a GS3.
It hurts my fingers typing this cause i was so anti samsung. The root of the failure is Sense and it's resource hogging ways. The broken multitasking is just a cover up from HTC to squeeze some performance out of a already sluggish phone. Just hitting the home button is a nightmare with all the loading it does.
HTC's failure rate has been abysmal, base on what I've seen and heard from Sprints corporate store in Burlington Massachusetts.
Im sure I might get flamed from a few people here, but I just wanted to vent my displeasure with HTC and it saddenings me watching this Titanic sink to the level of nokia.
That being said, those wondering if the grass is greener on the otherside? My answer to that is a big hell yeah.

I'm really sick of reading this. The phone feels cheaper, it's plastic. Got it. It's the go-to argument for the EVO being better, we see it in every thread.
I definitely love the build of my phone when I take the case off once a month, but if that's the best you got on EVO 4G LTE vs. GS3, why even post?
-------------
The OP is painful to read.

I couldn't tell the difference cause they both spent their lifes in a Otterbox case, so your point has no value.

So, besides the multitasking fail, please list other failures.
And insight on why it is greener on the other side.

If u want another argurment the EVO has a better dev community, camera, screen, abd it has a kickstand something sgs3 dosnt have so take your thread and go back to your own damn section.
EDIT:better battery life and not worrying about our phones melting is another plus

Well... Maybe stock vs stock is leaning towards SGSIII, but my overclocked EVO running Viper4G is as snappy as any phone in existence. No Sense reloads. Almost sufficient multi-tasking. Only irritates me like once a week. I love my phone again. Thank you devs.
Plus I have a kickstand that I've used every day of my life, literally, since my OG EVO...

Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium

I agree on the multitasking front, HTC should fix it and stop calling it an "intended feature". At the very least stop reffering to it as multitasking, HTC.
While I don't like Sense, you can't really blame HTC for it. Samsung does the same thing with Touchwiz. What we as customers should demand is either a way to disable these third party resource-hogs or petition them to release pure Android builds for their phones (which I believe HTC did for the Desire).
I doubt the above would happen and I refuse to purchase Samsung phones (based on horrible experiences I've had in the past) so what I am really hoping for is for the next Nexus phone to be build by HTC. Awesome hardware and pure Android software would be pure bliss.

Seriously, just please get out. If you didn't like the Evo, that's your own damn problem and we don't care one little bit.

Im going to agree with the OP on this one. I'm checking Craigslist daily to do a trade lol... May even go back to galaxy nexus.

Pointless thread is pointless. Just get a new device and move on. Thread closed.

Honestly was the Evo3d worth getting?

I have always been HTC lover. Since the pp6700 I had every htc flagship smartphone. True they were not perfect, which was why I ditched my evo for epic.
Better in a lot of ways but has problems of it's own. Ended up hating the galaxy as well. Well I wanted to come back to htc before catching wind of the S2
But I see in this forum of many build quality problems well scattered thought the device. Seems rushed product? Seems more faults then epic and evo together when released.
Just wanted to know what others feel.

Its definitely worth it if you get a good one. People act like its such a huge request to look at the phone prior to leaving the sprint store... If there is something wrong with the one they bring you, just tell them you want a different one.
I'm happy with mine. Even with my monocular vision.

I am on my second device (EVO 3D). I killed the first because I did a drunken swim (lil drunk right now in case this post doesn't make much sense ) and forgot it was in my pocket. The first had 1 dead pixel, only noticible when using an app to look for them and even then, I was the only one of the 3 people I asked who could actually see it. Other than that, the build quality on both phones has been outstanding. IMHO those who complain, for the most part, are those who would complain about just about anything and are looking for things to ***** about. The 3D is superior to the OG EVO in every way (with the exception of root). Is it the difference I had from my old Touch Diamond to my OG EVO, no, absolutely not. It is an evolutionary improvement with the added feature of 3D. I think the build quality of the 3D is night-and-day better than the build quality of the OG EVO, but that's just my opinion. Is it worth getting? I wouldn't go back to my old EVO, the decision is really to each his/her own.
I'm happy with mine too... Just that it lags pretty bad when scrolling in the market and some apps.... But I guess could be fixed by a update.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
This is definitely an upgrade to my old EVO by a longshot. Is it perfect? No. Is it worth getting? Yes.
Sense 3.0 at its best, Camera is better, shutter button is a welcome addition, the screen is better, Stock speed is faster than EVO rooted, the graphics WOW, 1Gig RAM, a gig of UA storage & the 3D is fun as hell. It's one core alone is better & it has 2 of them. Most of the developers from the EVO 4G will develop for the EVO 3D.
I can cry about it not having permanent root but that's just a matter of patience.
You have 30 days to make that call for yourself, you might feel differently or even better about it.

Definitely worth it for me. I had my Evo 4G for less than a year, sold it for $240, and got the full upgrade price of $199 so it cost me nothing extra except one extra year on contract to get a better new phone.
I love the Evo 3D. And anyone who b*tches about it all the time cuz their screen is a lil bit yellow instead of white, or they got shipped with kingston instead of scan or w/e can just take it back n get the samsung instead and let the rest of us actually enjoy this beast. It's one of the best phones out there and the only 3D phone that is worth buying and that 3D feature got me laid, so STOP b*tchin. Not aimed at the thread starter.

Is the amaze still worth it?

Hey all, my girlfriend has a TMobile MTGS 4G slide and complains that it's too heavy and bulky. She hardly uses the physical keyboard and wants a new phone.
I was just wondering if getting her a HTC Amaze would still be worth it since it's EOL already and probably won't see much more updates from TMobile or HTC. If not, what new phones would you recommend? I don't like the HTC One S because there is no SD card slot or a removable battery.
Your thoughts?
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using XDA
It's as worth it right now as it will ever be, development is booming like never before since S-OFF and the ICS leak, but if your girlfriend is complaining about bulkiness and heaviness then you may want to look into another phone because the Amaze is not so thin and weighs almost as much as the myTouch 4G Slide
The Amaze is still solid, BUT is also heavy (and even heavier with a case obviously). So have her try it. The One S is SUPER lightweight, and she probably doesn't need more than 16 gb (sorry for sexist generalization, but it's 90% accurate) of storage. It's a lot more sleek and thin... WAY more attractive for women imo. Shed love it.
If you're on a budget though, she would prolly prefer the sgs2 or galaxy nexus because of the weight difference

if sexist its towards guys since they have to have all their porn on their sd-card. thats why its a "deal killer" for most people hahaha
but yeah, for a girl i would say the one s anyday. its more sleek, thin, much more fluid/easy to use OS (sense 4.0), etc.

Well, she's tried my phone out and likes it more than her mytouch. But I guess I'll have her try out the One S at the store to see if she likes it then. Any other phones on the horizon? HTC and their EOLing of phones 6 months later had me a little concerned that they're going to do the same thing to the One S.

Here's my 2....The One S just released and the One series HTC said they are planning on offering on many providers with little to no variations. This means that in time all of the devices (X, S, V) should (in theory) have a very strong development base. The SGS3 gets released internationally soon that means Tmobile won't see it til the end of 3rd/beginning of 4th quarter this year. It's also been talked about them dropping the Exynos processor for the American versions. Honestly I rocked a Vibrant for a long time but would steer clear of any and all Samsung devices. The Amaze is a solid device though but it's already dated. No reason in starting out behind.

Coming from someone who just created one of these threads two days ago...here's some advice.
I had the of evo 4g....then the evo 3d....and now I just moved to the Samsung. I don't know yet if I made the right choice but I know that the LTE didn't feel like the right choice either.
Asking these kinds of questions will always give you biased reviews. In the evo forum it stands to reason you'll get plenty of support for the evo. In the galaxy forum you will get support for the galaxy.
Look in both. Do what I did and look at the general ans q&a sections for both, see what the issues and comments seem to be.
My deal killer with the lte was the lack of removable battery. The next big thing were all the sense problems I kept reading about. My wife likes sense and the stock look, so I need stability in the stock setup for her...even if it means switching from sense, which I never used anyway.
Good luck with your decision. It stressed me out a lot because I live on my phone and I've been with htc for so long...but it didn't feel right this time. Maybe when that rumored superphone comes out things will change...

Except the non-removable battery. I personally don't care, but apparently some people drain three batteries a day. That would be a legitimate deal breaker for some. However, OP, the battery life is outstanding so don't be put off by this unless you are the type who streams music 12 hours a day and switches batteries regularly.

I would say go with the s3 since your used to touch wiz ,even though the screen is saturated and pentile, the 1280x720hd reso helps that. Personally I have the EVO 4g LTE,its rooted and I love it to death. I don't see how a device this fast with just 2000mah could have such amazing battery life.the sgs3 should have even better battery life with that samoled screen.

Sent from my EVO using xda premium
They are both the same technically hardware wise its more of a personell opinion I had the s3 felt like a piece of plastic in my hand, the lte felt like how a phone should be solid yet light weight plus I live the dedicated camera button and I love showing off how many pics i can take and still be crystal clear ,plus the s3 screen is way to saturated for my eyes, when I play on my bros phone its like I'm playing halo haha and when I go back to my phone its like real life haha---my opinion
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
I think they are both very good phones. Also, you can always get roms installed, so talking about software is pointless. The one thing that I really prefer about the evo over the s3 is the lack of physical home button. That's a button you use a lot throughout the day, so there's a chance the s3's home button will get wonky down the road. That's my feeling, since I experienced issues with the home button on my old iphone 4 two months before my contract ended. So the decision was easy for me, as I didn't want to experience issues with a home button again.
I've got the 4G LTE. So far I've liked it but if I had the chance to do it over I would get a SGIII. I've had some annoying things happen to my LTE and although I love the beautiful screen I have a feeling I wouldn't have had those problems with the SGIII. The two main problems I've had are that the phone actually bent one day while in my pocket. It was minor and I bent it back straight but I think the upper portion of the phone above the kickstand is a major weak zone in the Aluminum unibody. My other issue is that the camera broke and I'm in the process of shipping it back to HTC for warranty repair. So at this point after owning the phone for 9 weeks I don't have much faith that the repaired product won't suffer same fate.

Farewell fellow 4g lte users. 2nd phone broke...going GS3

Its been nice knowing you guys. I was very excited for this phone. I was one of the many who cursed apple for delaying my pre-order and checking these forums constantly for any rumor of the awaited release. I had to return my first one after a week due to a few issues but have been very happy with my evo since. Aside from some LTE connection issues, the power button on my phone decided to crap out. Thankfully since i am running mean rom, the camera button does wake the phone so i am able to use it for the time being. Because of the 4g lte issues and the fact that i would like to take out my battery at will, i am going to request that I get a GS3 as a replacement. Its been nice knowing you all.
good bye and have fun.
were gonna miss you
you contributed sooo much
Have a good time.

Fine go ahead and leave we don't want you here *runs away in tears*
Really though my sister has the gs3 and while I don't like all that plastic its a solid phone. Think you'll be happy with it
When i seen my 64 year old mother with the GS3 i just had to rule it out as ever being an option.

[Q] Kickstand or Swap?

So, the kickstand on my phone is shot. The nut on the back just spins and will not tighten causing the kickstand to flop around like a baby seal. Given some rebates, etc. when I got the phone, I did get Best Buy's protection plan. So, basically, they would swap the phone out for free - only one small problem. This phone isn't available in their warehouse. This leaves me with one of two options really:
1. Put up with the kickstand (I've resorted to putting a piece of tape over it and then just putting my phone in a case) until they get some in-stock at which point they would swap it out.
2. Take it in, and since they don't have any in stock, they would transfer me over to a Galaxy S3.
I don't know much about the S3 and how comparable it is to this phone. I guess I'm just curious if anyone else has any kickstand fixes or if they would swap their phone out for an S3 if they could...
If I were you, I'd just get the S3

Any particular reason why?
i have both.
the screen is terrible imo. put them side by side and the s3 looks blue.
there is some really good development happening on another forum for it though.
not sure about the development on here. dont really check.
how far from an upgrade are you?
if youre not far from upgrading and you plan on upgrading get the s3. it is worth a lot more on the skreet than the lte and you should have no problem selling it for $175 to 200.
Yeah, I'm not a fan of the screen either (a couple guys in the office have then) but I'm not due for an upgrade until July next year.

I'd go with the S3. Bigger battery I'm pretty sure and its got more active devving going on. Only real downside is the screen. You can get a case with a kickstand.

Eh, I'm not worried about the kickstand. However, it does seem the general consensus is that the S3 has be more flourishing dev community.
I have to admit, I kinda like sense - that will be the only bummer. I don't like how long it takes to get updates though.
I really dislike HTC to be honest, this was my first and probably last. The development we get from devs is just incredible like Jamie and untz to name two. But generally development for Samsung is prolonged far after the device is considered obsolete. Hell my brother's Epic still has development.

Sense looks good, so does Touchwiz if you ask me. Took HTC way too long to get notification bar toggles in Sense

Keep in kind that HTC had notification toggles in phones from other carriers.
