Hello,
I have an EVO design 4g, stock 2.3.4 ROM, rooted, and s-off. I just downloaded the OTA ICS ROM and want to know how to modify the zip to be cwm flashable, without overwriting my recovery or hboot. Can somebody point me in the right direction? My googling has yielded me no help.
Thanks in Advance,

Believe the answer is no - you are looking for a PG86IMG.ZIP file. I created one for the EVO, haven't taken the time to do with for the EVO 3D (yet).
Best thing you could do to go back to stock is use the latest RUU file. You won't have root, but you will be stock.
Hopefully that is the answer you have been seeking...

Thanks for the reply but I am simply looking for the stock htc kernel that it is flashable

I'm not sure that they have one as of now, but you should be able to make a nandroid back up to save your original kernel
Sorry for the thread revival...
I was looking for it myself. Think I found it. It was after this post.

First do THIS
Then install THIS and install su & superuser from the developer menu in Amon Ra.
From there you'll be rooted. Also, read the developer section, especially the stickies as there are plenty of great guides to get you going, but those two that I linked are the basics of getting it unlocked and perm rooted. From there you'll be able to flash a new ROM in recovery.
Thanks i will try as soon as I get home and let you know how it goes!

Using Amon Ra, I flashed directly from my phone. Its way easy. Just take your time and you'll get it.
Hows it going everyone,
I've been gone for a while, and decided I'd like to try going complete stock Telus again. Could someone explain the process of doing so? I've done some digging around and have found a couple links that could help such as:
[Collection] HTC Ruby/Amaze 4G Stock ROMs (RUUs & OTAs): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25761360
[Updated 7-12]✚ The Ultimate Guide to Everything Amaze-ing! Help us update the wiki!✚: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1679486
Telus Amaze Kernel 3.0 Source Code: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762487
From what I've looked up, I believe I need the RUU and OTA from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25761360
Is it as simply as flashing the OTA/RUU and locking the bootloader again? I'm sure this question has been asked many times before, and sorry, I'm a complete noob .
Thanks in advance.
Huh, also found this by Dark Nightmare: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27058110&postcount=44
Is it really that simple as just downloading the Flashable ZIP, then putting stock recovery using Hansoons tool kit?
Where can I find the stock recovery? Currently have 4EXT.

We have no stock RUU for telus ICS, so flashable zip is our only method at the moment.
Not sure what to do, I am downloading roms and trying to install them through a bootloader. I have a clockwork recovery mod that I am using.
I deleted HTC sense on accident, idiot move i know.
Can you guys give me some tips or point me in the right direction to get my phone working again?
Tried installing CM9 and CM10 but it would just loop the intro....
Well you should have made a nandroid before flashing anything... If you did restore your nandroid.
If you didn't flash android revolution hd. (Before you did this were you on ics of gb)

Not clear at all. How'd you "delete" HTC Sense?
You are supposed to wipe before flashing a ROM. Also, CM9/10 aren't even fully working. So why are you trying to flash it in the first place?

Well first off you don't install roms through bootloader you install them through recovery, maybe u just said that wrong.
Second, what where you running on your phone before you tried flashing these roms?

Ok the reason im not making any sense is because I've been up so late trying to fix this. Been learning a lot in the process.
Here's what happened, I was using a file manager (my phone is rooted) and deleted htc sense while it the phone was on. Now I am trying to flash a custom rom through the recovery mode and flash the kernal (boot.img) through fast boot.
Nothing is working. The closest I got was with cyanogen mod 9 but It was giving me errors when trying to connect to any networks.
Did you wipe/factory reset? Otherwise you would have a lot of problems trying to flash cyanogen over sense. Also cyanogen has lots of bugs still.... So I recommend you go with a Sense based rom.... Android Revolution/Energy/Speedrom. Those are the ones that have the least bugs.
Here's your best resolve, reload the stock RUU via hboot, if you're s-on, don't forget to relock the bootloader, if not, just reflash the stock ruu via hboot, that should solve all your issues, I don't get why you'd go to cm9 and 10 instead of a stock based rom, but for the simplest way to resolve the issue would be to flash the stock ruu via hboot.
Hi, I moved your thread to the Q&A section. Please keep all question related threads in Q&A. Also, please search the forums before creating threads. Chances are, a thread about your particular query already exists, with answers.

Seems stock, we need a screenie of the kernel and baseband version to tell you what firmware version you have although it looks like the ics ota.
Boot into bootloader by
1. Pull battery and replace
2. Hold volume down + power until hboot shows up
3. Look at s off/s on status, radio versions and if it says unlocked or tampered at the top.
Tampered means there is a custom recovery installed and probably rooted, this is good if you wanna flash a ROM.

Looks like you have the leaked global ics ruu firmware from mid 2012 and a rom based on it. Since you are still s-on, you may find it difficult to revert back to anything older (such as the official ics). The kernel looks to be the one included in the leaked ruu as well.
Hi mate,
Is that mean something? Bad or good maybe?
So the step is make it s-off, flashing the rom, and.... Am i right?
I dont get any trouble with thia phone. I just want to know are there any better setting than i have? If not maybe i'll stick with this one. (for battery and performance maybe)
Looking forward from you all...

1. S-off. You may have to relock to perform the s-off. I can't remember. Go do your research before starting.
2. Flash venom Rom. This is an ics Rom with zero bugs.
3. Flash the team bamf kernel (made by same developer) this kernel will increase your battery life by about 50%
Good luck

S off might come off as confusing..
It's not necessary some kernels will flash via ph98img (the bootloader will search for this and ask you to install the update)
Joelz (maker of viperrez and bamf kernel) has implemented this in his rom and kernel.
If your s on, normally you would need a computer to flash the boot.img separately via fastboot commands (search more about using adb and fastboot)

You don't need to s-off. S-off makes flashing a ROM a little easier by automatically flashing the kernel afterwards, but as was mentioned, these days a lot of ROMs make the kernel file for you and the phone goes to hboot and you just accept the update and it flashes it for you.
s-off makes it easier to brick your phone. So it may be better to stay s-on until you get the hang of the Rezound way of doing things. I'm s-on and on the same global leak and I have no problem with it. The ROM I run, EclipticRez makes a PH98IMG file for the kernel so it's easy peasy.
So you are probably ready to flash a ROM. But I would check what recovery you have on there. Boot into bootloader as you did before then navigate to recovery. The two main ones used for the Rez are Amon Ra and TWRP. Amon Ra is currently at v3.16, I don't know about TWRP but you can find it in the Development section and find out. Then once you know you have the latest recovery you can flash a ROM. There should be instructions in the thread for how to flash the ROM and if you need the kernel separately the dev usually posts it for download, otherwise you have to pull it out of the ROM and flash it using fastboot.
Seems a lot to learn.
But, thank you guys.
I will keep searching the forum to find out more info before i decide to flash.
Thanks for al advices and nice to know you all here.
