this might be obvious but make sure the sd card locks in. insert sd card till it clicks in, remove it and click in again.

Check your sd card by using other phone. This way will know whether your sd card defect or not

dmesg doesn't magically repair your phone, it outputs a log so I/we can see what's wrong.
Please repeat the steps but instead of "dmesg" use "dmesg > /sdcard/logfile.txt" (no quotes) and then attach the file "logfile.txt" on your internal storage to your next post.

hi
i have a 16gb sandisk class 10 sd card
for somereason now after i formatted it it cannot be recognised in windows, it shows as damaged card in my sk17i when i try format it on the phone it sits there for hours
tries eaus recovery to ormat it, it says its write protected??? is it corrupt? i managed to get it working last time this happened but i have no idea what has happened to it.
im not fussed about looking whats on it. i just want it to work again. windows wont format it. tried IHIREX boot cd.
is there a sector scanner that might run through and check it? windows disk cheking wont check for errors as its not formatted. mini partition pro shows bad disk.
very frustrating... is there a way of fixing it or do i have to buy a new card?
thanks in advance
also it says cannt do anythign with it as its a RAW drive??
If you didn't already try this,
There is a command line tool called "diskpart" which comes with windows. You have to use command prompt. Open command window and type "diskpart" . It is used to partition disks and external hard drives. It might be useful. I haven't used it much because I'm on linux. Just give it a shot.

still no go,
i can give it a drive letter. but it shows as a Raw file system, cant format in ANY program
when i do a sector scan the first block is red, then it stops at 25.867%
could it be the MBR or boot secotr gone? if so is there programs to help combat this?
Try gparted and yes it works with backtrack. In my previous comment in the "source" link a guy had the same problem as yours, the card says "write protected" and the only strong reply he got was to get the memory card replaced

nah i brought it from ebay, said 2-3 days delivery, after 4 weeks i assumed it got lost in the post so i got a refund. but sure enough 3 days later it arrived. so i dont think he will take it back. a class 10 16gb sd card is only £10, but i just dont understand how these things get corrupt and break so damn easy
ok im running ANOTHER surface scan on it now. it has got a lot further than it did before, theres about 220 red bad blocks. ini partition tool shows it as a bad disk.
before when this happened i plugged it into me xbox and configured it as a memory unit, then re formatted it on me pc but it wont do it this time.
is there a way or a program that will scan and fix bad blocks? windows cant do it because it cant pick it up as an actual memory card

Sandisk, Ebay, and low price all point to counterfeit.
Mini partition shows it has 112 bad sectors. Is. There no way to fix it? Like certain dos programs or sd repairs.
Its wierd. When I go to cwm and mount usb it formats fine to fat 32 in windows. Then cwm crashes and its bk to spuare one. Arrrgg!

Hi everyone,
Few days back when I was in Sammy LSJ ROM, I noticed there is a file already created and I am experiencing difficulty to delete this file from the Internal Storage.
Location:
/sdcard/00/01/02/03/
Inside this path, there is a file with weird character name in 0 byte.
I already try to delete that file (also try with the folder 03) from:
>> Root Explorer --> unable to go inside folder 03
>> My Files (comes with the OS) --> only can see one file with 0 byte
>> ES Explorer --> found three files in it, all with 0 byte
None of it allows me to delete it. :crying:
I did try to remove it from Terminal Emulator with command “rm –rf /sdcard/00/01/02/03/” but not successful, since I have limited knowledge on linux command line. You may refer the screenshot that I have attach in here.
My Current OS in SGS2 : WanamLite v14.1 LSD – 4.1.2
Appreciate can someone guide me how to permanently remove it? :fingers-crossed:
Thank you.
Bump.... any help is highly appreciated. :fingers-crossed:
One sure way would be to backup needed data and then format /emmc (internal) or /sdcard (external) via cwm and re-install rom.

Connect your phone to a windows computer via mass transfer mode. Then right click on the internal SD card icon and go to properties and check disk for error. It happened with me. Some bad sector was built up. This process removed those files and my bad sector was also removed. You can also defragment your drive from here. I did mine.
I hope it helps...
Best of luck.

Thanks for the suggestion. :good:
Whenever I connect my phone to PC (USB mass storage), I shall see a pop up windows to perform check disk for the phone (Internal Storage).
So I choose "Automatically fix file system errors" and "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors".
Then I remove the phone and reconnect back, it will prompt the same windows.
Using defragment from PC did not solve the problem as well.
At the end... I managed to solve my problem by formatting the Internal Storage from Windows:
- connect the phone as "USB mass storage"
- select full format from PC on Internal Storage
That's all... now the annoying folder 00 no longer appear.
**I'm not sure format from Windows will damage the partition in Phone's Internal Storage? I rebooted the phone and check again, the storage remain as 11.50GB, I guess should be all fine now.
And you didn't have to torch it after all.
+1

Hi I have the same problem, what file system do you use when formatting from windows?
I own a Sprint Sgs3 rooted. A while back I was running a 4.2 rom, I believe liquid smooth. From that I did a clean install and switched to a 4.3 rom to try it out. When it got to the home screen it said my SD card may be corrupted and asked me to format. I hit yes and nothing seemed to happen but I no longer got the error. I switched back to a 4.2 rom and it says my internal memory is 95% full and my SD card has 16 gb free. Before this happened it was split between the two so internal wasn't nearly as full. How do I get it back like that?
