3D graphics performance on Android devices has increased dramatically in the last year or so. Some newer phones have very impressive benchmark scores, and many don’t even break a sweat while playing high quality games or emulators for consoles like Playstation and Nintento 64. Some older devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Ace don’t have that kind of power, though, and require some help.
I have ported a method that will help increase 3D graphics performance. The modification process is a relatively, and involves deleting the libGLES_android.so file from the phone, flashing the modified Adreno Lib files, and giving the build.prop a few tweaks to get everything running.
The end result is a GPU that renders 3D faster than it did previously. As always, make a complete backup before attempting anything, just in case something bad happens. For now, the tweak has only been tested on a couple of ROMs, but should work for any Gingerbread based ROM.

Instructions:
1. Download New Adreno Libs
2. Remove libGLES_android.so from /system/lib/egl
3. Flash new adreno libs5. Reboot, Enjoy
4. Reboot

We don't have an Adreno 200
Will it work for GT S5830i ? Bcz we have videocore as GPU rather than the GT S5830's Adreno.
Sent from my GT-S5830i using Tapatalk 2
yes. there are adreno 200 drivers in 5830i as well as droadcom drivers and they are mixed.
chamsi99 can you write more details about 3 position?
Code:
# the msm hw3d client device node is world writable/readable.
/dev/msm_hw3dc 0666 root root
[COLOR="Red"]# gpu driver for adreno200 is globally accessible[/COLOR]
/dev/kgsl 0666 root root
/dev/kgsl-3d0 0666 root root
/dev/kgsl-2d0 0666 root root
/dev/kgsl-2d1 0666 root root
What?
Adreno libs?
LoL, is this right?
But, what do you mean, is Adreno inside our phone or VideoCore use Adreno libs? i'm confused

I have flash and wipe data/cache/dalvik and the phone boot, but >SOME< apps don't work, like AnTuTu and Gallery. But, ES Explorer, SuperUser, Calendar and more are working.
Of course it will not work properly, because we have VideoCore IV, not Adreno 200.

Do not use this directly as an incorrectly modded libGLES_android.so will render your phone unbootable.
I cannot check the files as i don't have computer access right now.
Let some dev do the inspection and if necessary do the modding.

It DOES work..!!
on quadrant advanced performance went up to 754 from 626.
Tanks a lot Lijop for this.
Don't forget to add the build.prop tweaks, I think I can made a flashable zip that add it automatic. Will try to do it.
EDIT
After some experimenting I have made it http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1664131/update-Adreno-Lib_build.prop_tweaks-s.zip new Adereno libs witch automatic build.prop tweaks. I have test the new libs in Antutu and it doesn't find a difference, but me felling is the phone run's the complete UI smother.
EDIT2 now it removes the /system/lib/egl/libGLES_android.so too.

Yes, we just got our own forums and YES it seems a bit pointless to be offering this up right away.
However, I've been reading up on ROM kitchens, etc, and I am *very* eager and excited to start playing with the newest ICS build for the Mediapad.
If anyone starts working on any CWM-9 based ROM, I would more than gladly be an active tester. My tablet currently acts as a daily Pandora-listening device, so I am more than willing to test nightly/bi-nightly/4x per day builds, whatever you request.
My tablet is at your command. Heck, if you need to remote into my PC to access the tablet, I can set up a dedicated computer connected to the Springboard, just for you.
Otherwise, I am also very much willing to temporarily donate/lend my device to a credible dev who would like to work on this.
great idea to start a thread like this..
i'm also willing to do alpha/beta testing of some new custom ROMs for our lovely MediaPad

Wouldn't the ICS build we're running already have this driver?
I'm working on a CM9 port now but it'll be my first ROM ever so it's slow going haha. It will happen though.
i think they're already on the MediaPad, but we can try this...
anybody can post a short list of steps, how to install it on the MediaPad?
or is it just as simple as extracting the zip to /system folder and modifying the build.prop?
i've checked the files on mediapad already:
- /system/etc/firmware -> has the "leia" and "yamato" files, but doesn't have the "a255" and "a300" files...
- /system/lib -> this folder doesn't exist at all

Yes, they are already there and they are more performance oriented than the genaral drivers (NenaMark2: 33.2 fps for the general driver vs. 37.9 for the one already there). Tried it by adb pushing the new driver files to the mediapad.

Ok, so you have somehow upgraded your phone to Sony’s Ice Cream Sandwich, and now you are shocked at the lag of your phone. Listed below are steps you should do to improve your ICS experience, and hopefully feel less jealous of your friend’s (insert name of high-end android model).
Note: This guide is written specifically for Xperia Neo V, but should work on Xperia Neo, Arc/S etc. provided you install the correct kernels for your device.
1. Root your phone and install Clockwork Mod Recovery.
There are two ways to do this, locked and unlocked bootloader.
Locked bootloader:
Please refer to these threads for more info.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601038
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1364509
I might not be able to help as my bootloader is unlocked, but I will try.
Unlocked bootloader
For unlocked bootloader, you should flash a custom kernel for more benefits.
Install fastboot and all the other drivers if you have not already
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24457419&postcount=1
Place the following file on your SD card.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1090931&d=1338234349
Find a kernel with clockwork mod recovery preinstalled. Here are some recommendations.
Suave kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1708532
XNeo kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1704268
Night elf kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566871
To flash the kernel, rename the .img file to boot.img and place it into the fastboot folder. Plug your phone in to the USB while holding the menu button. The LED should turn blue. Open cmd.exe, type “cd” followed by dragging your fastboot folder in the cmd. After that, type “fastboot flash boot boot.img” Restart the phone and continuously press the volume down button
2. Remove bloatware.
Auto remove with this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26538965 Thank ThilinaC for this!
Manual removal: Install Titanium Backup from the Play Store. Start by removing the useless stuff (Wisepilot etc.) After that, if you are feeling a bit adventurous, you can check out this thread for removing more stuff
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19772266&postcount=1
3. Overclock your CPU. (only for unlocked bootloaders)
This is pretty self-explanatory. Just install a cpu tuner app such as No frills, setcpu, SetXperia. It is generally safe to overclock to around 1.4Ghz.
4. Build.prop tweaks
This is where the stuff gets interesting. Use an app such as root explorer and navigate to /system and edit the build.prop. Add the following lines to the bottom of the file.
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=150
persist.adb.notify=0
debug.sf.hw=1
debug.performance.tuning=1
video.accelerate.hw=1
Full list available HERE Thank the OP.:good:
After editing, restart your phone and your phone will speed up eventually.
5. Remove CPU rendering
Navigate to system/lib/egl and edit egl.cfg file. Remove the first line. After that delete libGLES_android.so Restart and wait.
6. Install the v6 supercharger (thanks Pandemic for the PM)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1704268
7. Get a copy of the Xperia Sola home, along with other Sola apps. They are way faster than the crappy stuff in the 2011 devices. Available HERE.
8. Install the newest JB Adreno drivers HERE
9. (OPTIONAL) Install the Xperia S Walkman, its faster than the V version lol. (credits go to ThilinaC)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26739806&postcount=1
Games work perfectly fine on my phone. Some random lags on temple run but not FIFA 12.
Why stock rom? Because the rom is actually quite well optimised and doesn't suffer from mulitouch problems. And the Xperia S Walkman is great:victory:
Suggestions are welcome so that we can all improve this thread.:highfive:
Reserved for future use
I didn't miss anything for tweaking my phone,
except this part
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=150
persist.adb.notify=0
debug.sf.hw=1
debug.performance.tuning=1

The persist code is for removing the usb debugging notification when you plug in a usb. Window max events per sec is for improving scrolling speed and the others are for hardware acceleration/gpu.

Thanks for the Xperia S home tip. But I am slightly confused over Enable GPU rendering. Doesn't remove cpu rendering do the same job, or do you mean the force gpu option in developer options.
just asking out of curiosity,doesn't debug.sf.hw=1 enable rendering ui with gpu ? so whats the point editing egl.cfg file ?
or am I wrong?
anyway nice thread

PMed and no reply, guess it's not possible
Nice from you that you wrote all this, but all this is pretty much standard procedure for any fw, not just ICS.
And why point 6 is on the list, Xperia S walkman? That's kinda down to each person opinion, right?
Also:
Misc. If you upgraded from gingerbread using the official way, make a backup with CWM and make a complete restore. Of course, you have to apply these tweaks again but your device will be faster.
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
If you make CWM right after that update and restore it, you won't gain anything(like speed), (possible)stuff from GB will still be in that backup.
If you update, and old stuff is left over from GB, then do repair(with PCC/SEUS), and then you can make CWM backup of clean ICS, but no need to restore it.
And you won't need to reapply tweaks if you do them before CWM backup, after restore, they will also be restored

I've tried a lot of the available ROMs (including the new JB ones), but this combination is just awesome:
Firmware MediaPad ICS 4.0.3 HWMOD C232B005
[KERNEL][AOSP][ICS 4.0.3][09/12/12] Mediapad EX (Don't flash modules)
New Qualcomm JellyBean Driver / Libraries
lagfree Governor
Overclock to 1,67 GHz
I'm pretty sure that the new Qualcomm Drivers tip the scales. Overall this combination gives you a fully working and outstanding smooth mediapad.
Have fun and press the thanks button if this helped you.

Amazing testing, I am now on after_silence's CM10. Would the JB drivers with the same adb commands work with his CM10? Only thing not really working is the wifi MAC thing on that rom.
I'm pretty sure that the cm10 Rom already contains the new drivers. I believe I've read that flashing these files won't work with cm based Roms (maybe look at thread where the driver download is located).
Gesendet von meinem LT18i mit Tapatalk 2
Normally I have no problem with ADB, but for some reason I am unable to push the system files for the JB Adreno Drivers. I've attached a screenshot of my command window, but basically it's saying the file doesn't exist or I don't have permissions. I tried moving the file to a drive that wasn't hosting my Win8 OS, and ran the command with the new local file location but I got the same error.
I also tried to use Root Explorer and ES File Explorer to simply copy the files, but Root Explorer causes a hot reboot, and ES FIle Explorer freezes the tablet completely.
I've rooted a ton of devices in my day including that P.O.S. Notion Ink Adam, but this Huawei tablet is turning out to be a whole different beast in and of itself.
Any ideas on what to do now?
EDIT/UPDATE: took out the " / " after local system folder in adb command and all is golden.
I highly advice against flashing the Jellybean Adreno libraries on a ICS flavored ROM!
I've tried it and now the screen remains black. ADB works fine still though, so I can restore things to the way they were.
Still... stay away from mixing Jellybean flavored stuff into ICS!

I was surfing and get this awesome app for the Gamers who like to play PlayStaion, now it is on Mobile and works on our low-end device Galaxy Y.
I thought it to share it you all.
Now lets back to the topic.
Steps to follow :
1)Download the Playstation®Mobile.apk and install it.
After installing it you will get an error. Dont worry.
Download : http://www.playstation.com/psm/store/en.html
2)Now you need to download the following zip and flash(I have modified the zip)
Download : http://db.tt/k3Wbmn8Y
Note: Just to be clear once again, you have to be rooted to install the helper files com.playstation.playstationcertified.jar and com.playstation.playstationcertified.xml. If you're not rooted yet, first figure out how to do so to your device and then come back.
This relies on having busybox, which if you're rooted, you likely already do.
3)Alternatively, if you don't want to flash from recovery or just like to know what you're doing, you can perform the steps manually while booted into Android:
Unzip the zip file downloaded in step 2.
Copy playcertetcpermissionscom.playstation.playstationcertified.xml to /system/etc/permissions/ on your device.
Copy playcertframeworkcom.playstation.playstationcertified.jar to /system/framework/ on your device.
Set the permissions on com.playstation.playstationcertified.jar to 644 (read/write, read, read) using your favorite file manager or command line.
4)Reboot.
Note : You need to be registered on playstation network to play games.
Register as citizen of United kingdom or Japan as I have tested other countries are not working.

Due to LOW resolution and LOW end spec. GALAXY Y is not able to run any game on PLAYSTATION MOBILE
HOW CAN YOU THINK GALAXY Y CAN RUN PLAYSTATION MOBILE GAME AS IT DOESN'T ABLE TO RUN ANDROID GAMES PROPERLY
NO ONE IS PERFECT

Buddy,I use chainfire 3D and is working fine for me.
which games can we play!!!
The app installs fine but is not usable due to the following
You can only download files larger than 20mb if you are on a wifi connection!
How old is that! I download gigabytes a week on my mobile network as I have no data limits so to make this app usable only if you have wifi makes the app useless to me
I know this isn't the op fault it's Sony - just reviewing the app
bugs in app
selecting settings from menu options causes app to restart
app will not start & crash to home screen if set to auto sign in - have to clear data & sign in each time
can't download anything under 20mb on mobile data - app restarts if I try

Well, if you want to play then you have to buy it but rather i suggest play the free one in the feature menu list.

Yes. I have also got the same problem. Btw, thanks for the bugs report.
Are you referring to playing PS1 games on SGY? An emulator, "FPSE", came out a long time ago...

PS - Tested and Working fine on my Galaxy Y
