Wi-Fi no longer working - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My home Wi-Fi setup was working fine with my galaxy S3 until this afternoon. The only thing that has changed is that I installed Serviio on my computer to connect to my PVR.
I've since uninstalled it but I still can't get my galaxy to connect. It sees it fine and says the signal is strong but every time I try to connect I get a "authentication error". I've tried rebooting the computer, the phone and the WiFi modem/router.
The only thing I can think of is that when I set the security on Serviio I used a different password than the normal WiFi login and maybe that caused some kind of conflict. But that seems pretty fast fetched to me.
So please, does anyone have any ideas?

Did you reboot your touchpad? Had that issue the other day... A quick restart (actual restart... Not just a Luna restart) and back in business.

same issue, my touchpad connects via my router. It was in developer mode, not sure if it is the cause. I end up doctor it.
Weird, Im having the same issue with a school wifi network that i've always been able to connect to with no probs. only thing different is, i just recently doctored/partitioned/set up ubuntu. tethering to my phone works at least, but curious what the problem is, since it's probably not the network. (?)
Edit: and it works a couple hours later... For some reason.

[Q] wifi connection problem

I have a Samsung galaxy 10.1 wifi only. I am having problem connecting to my wifi at home., I enter the password but all it keeps saying its scanning. What do I do?
Have you made any modifacations to your tab? ..custom roms or other stuff? maybe a dumb question but you are entering your password correctly?
Sent from my G Tab 10.1 using Tapatalk
The tablet is brand new. I am entering everything correctly. its not my signal or the modem because I have my laptop receiving signal from it. It even accepts the password.

Go to settings and wireless then long press on the network name and select forget. Now try to connect again

I did that too.
you must Recconect , my friend have the same problem and he fix it.
I did everything and it just won't stop saying scanning. It accepts the password but it won't give me internet connection.
Something is amiss here. Some protocol the tab doesn't recognize? Don't know what that would be, but who knows?
I'd try disabling any and all security, encryption on my wireless router/modem or find one not secured a and try it there. If it still wont connect I would suspect hardware failure.

Wifi not connected no data

My Android Tablet or phone are having problem connecting to a hidden network.
Set up the hidden network,i see my tablet or are connect to the hidden network but i got no DATA.
My friend IOS(Ipad or Iphone) connect to the same hidden network and everything works fine,my windows laptop work fine too.
Is it a problem with Android or I'm doing something wrong.
Any help?
I don't know about Prime connecting to a hidden network, but if you're disabling your router's SSID broadcast in hopes that it'd be hidden, don't. Any scanner will be able to pick up your router signal, SSID or no. And if anybody wants to get on your wifi, they'd be using a scanner. All you're doing is inconveniencing yourself, like this particular instance.
More here,

This is my company network so I can't change anything on the SSID...

Asus transformer prime-Android 4.0-not working

Try this,
HiddenSSID Enabler

Odd, my hidden SSID network at work is fine. Picks it up no problem. By chance do you have a browser redirect on the network?

Just to make sure, you are adding the network manually while not connected to any networks, using appropriate security correct?

I have the same problem with the wireless at my school. It must have something to do with multiple access points that overlap. It will always connect but can't pull any data. Sometimes after you wait for a while it will start working. Very strange.
Windows laptop always works fine.

Could this something in Android OS?

It could be an issue with android that has been overlooked due to the small amount of people who probably connect to a hidden network with an android device.

Wi-Fi Trouble

Is anyone else having trouble connecting to Wi-Fi? I haven't had any trouble up until now. Other than root, busybox and TWRP I haven't modified anything else. Just started not connecting within past few days.I wiped cache and dalvik/art in recovery but still no go.It sticks at obtaining IP address.

Do you have Comcast/Xfinity? Could be the the Wifi bug with Comcast and Lollipop.
No,I don't have either. Its connecting again. Strange. Nature of the Android beast though I guess.

Mine when I leave the house and come back it doesn't auto connect back to my WiFi unless I re connect manually

hmm... When I use Chainfire's pry-fi app (which changes your wifi mac address) on non-nexus devices, it seems to cause trouble.
I have the same Wi-Fi Problem. No Settings helped.
Router: German Speedport W 724V
I used to have this problem b4. Connected home WiFi but no Internet. And I need to disconnected WiFi and use data to check if it connected to Playstore. Then enabled WiFi to see it work. Very frustrated. Its something to do with the Google DNS with my previous crappy Internet Provider which is CrapCast(Comcast). I just switched to Verizon FiOS last Sunday and never have any problems now on all my devices.

Why is my tablet not working when connected to the internet?

I Have a Digiland tablet, I've had it for 2 years. Yesterday it was working just fine, now its not working. Everything else works (computer, game devices, etc) but for some reason my tablet won't work, I even hard reset it, still get the 404 error. It stopped working around midnight last night, I thought the wifi got shut off (because our dad shuts off the wifi at a certain time), but the next morning it still doesnt work. It's connected to the internet and I'm sitting right underneath the router, I tap on chrome and it just says "This webpage is not available ERR_TIMED_OUT". What should I do?I even disconnected and reconnected to my wifi settings (forget and reconnected) but still nothing! it's telling me check your connection and try again...
There are Either Two Things wrong Your Internet Connection Or Your Tablet.According to You your connection Is Fine. Then It's your tablets.
Either the /etc/Hosts file is broken or the /system/bin files are somehow Broken.Use a VPN and Tell me.
