Boot loop, Removing CWM and Stock rom - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a few problems and Q:
-I need to send my tab P7510 in for service(newton rings)
-Installed Official ICS UK rom with ODIN since it was not yet available in the Netherlands with Kies
1. Flashed this rom7510XWKL1_P7510LUXKL1 which gave a boot loop.
2. Then wiped userdata and cache with cwm and flashed again with this rom.
3. Again boot loop.
3. Flashed rom: P7510XEULPH_P7510XXLPH worked perfect
4. Flashed rom7510XEUKL2_P7510XXKL2, again boot loop
-Will a service center be asking Q when I have a UK rom installed?
-Any pointers how to roll back to 3.2?
-Does the binary counter has to be reset?

Sounds like you'll want to go back to 3.2 stock. You should be able to get the 3.2 stock ROM from Sammobile. Now I'm not the expert here, but as far as I'm aware all you need to do is
1) boot into download mode
2) Flash the stock ROM with Odin. This post will likely help.
3) Boot into stock recovery, do a full wipe and you should be out-of-the-box clean.
Now I've never had to do it but I've read enough about it here on XDA. Hope this helps!

I have no trouble flashing the ICS UK rom. It is the 3.2 roms from UK and Luxembourg which give trouble.
But then again:
-Will a service center be asking Q when I have a UK rom installed?
-Does the binary counter has to be reset?

Sorry, misread your post. I doubt Samsung would care if what they find on the device is what was there when it was new, period.
I would also say yes, reset your binary if you're sending it to service. They would know that you've been mucking about otherwise, if they decide to read the counter. If anything, it would be safest I'd think.

Well, it seems there is no tested or proofed method for resetting the counter on the TAB. On the otherhand, I have found posts that the chance is very small Samsung will make a big deal out of it. Have not found a posting yet of someone telling his guarantee was rejected because of his counter. What I find strange is that the counter is raised after using 2 roms from sammobile. That shouldn't be custom roms????
Well, going to make a service request today and hope all will be fine.

I recommend to flash a stock/official ROM to your phone.
Then root will be lost.
You can download Official ROMs from SamMobile, but you will need to register before.
Or you can have a look into Intratech's Offical Firmware thread here => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Please read his first post carefully.
Then decide which ROM to flash.
As you want to bring it back to "normal", you should use a ROM from the second post "Official Firmwares".
Just flash the ROM using Odin - like described by Intratech.
Nothing special.
Maybe you want to wipe everything to go back to factory settings.
Then you should do a hard reset after flashing by dialing *2767*3855# into your phone's dial pad.
But you can alternatively do a factory reset in recovery mode - also after flashing the stock ROM.
Good luck !
Hey mate thanks for the reply, i backed up my original rom using rom manager flashed back to it....but i still have root and i want to remove it. Can i just flash the insecure kernel and using super one click do the job???/.....NOTE I HAVE clock work mod recovery flashed already........

2) is the 3G working in this ROM ?
3) Any advises other than wiping data and wiping dalvik and cache before installing this ROM ?
4) im now rooted running stock ics , am i able to flash this custom ROM ?
5) can i flash back to ICS Stock through ODIN PC if i didnt like this custom ROM ?
6) Installing this ROM will void my warranty right ? if i flash back to ics stock my warranty will be back or no ?

What I am doing is downloading either of the Zips and installing the latest gapps. You should go to the ROM thread for better support on this ROM by the pershoot himself or other users of this ROM. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1787399
Installations of all ROMs are generally the same. Make sure you have CWM and I believe you need a minimum of 5.5.0.4 to flash these ROMs. After that it is as easy as booting to CWM and picking the Zips.
Hope this helps.
The ROM size is small because GApps isn't included. That adds roughly 90MB to the overall size.
Not sure about 3G...I have a WiFi tablet but there should be plenty of info in the OP and responses to answer that q for you.
On top of a full wipe, consider backing up apps so you can restore them after you're done.
If you do a full wipe from recovery you shouldn't have a problem installing any custom ROM from my experience.
You can always flash back to stock if you're not happy. Just remember that you're doing a complete wipe of everything including recovery when you flash stock firmware. You'll have to start over with flashing recovery/rooting/etc if you intend to do custom stuff again later on.
And finally...if you're rooted, your warranty is already void. Flashing back to stock and then putting back stock recovery gets you back to factory fresh with the exception of the binary counter, to my understanding. I have no idea if you can fix that off the top of my head and am not worried about it much myself at this point...browse around and see what you can find on the subject, especially if you have to return the tab for servicing etc.
Hope this helps!

1) you should take the 20120816
2) 3g is working fine
3) first: make a nandroid backup via cwm. 2nd: factory reset (wipe data/cache) and wiping dalvik
4) install the cwm found on droidbasement (from where you get the rom) via Odin - the you can flash this rom
5) yes you can
6) if you brick your tab and will be able to flash back to stock, you might get warranty. If you can't go back, you might get no warranty.
I'm you sing the 20120816 on my gt-p7501 (nearly same specs as 7500). everything works fine. only front camera doesn't work.
In the past I had send my tab to my local service center because of a defect with the display. Before I had flashed back to stock, and I had no problems with the warranty.

[Q] 2.3.6 cant update to 4.0.4 because of flash counter?

I'm currently rooted on stock 2.3.6. I'm trying to sell the phone today and the guy wants me to update to ICS. I just have one problem... Whenever I flash back to stock everything, Kies keeps giving me the error that I'm not eligible. I assume it's because I tripped the flash counter going back to stock. How can I avoid this? Can I use Kies with a custom recovery installed to flash the flash counter wipe, and then it'll just remove the recovery?
Edit - Trying with a custom recovery and it said I was eligible.
I am no expert on here but lurk these forums, but I think I'll throw my 2 cents in here. I received a warranty replacement from ATT in the mail after the manager of the ATT repair center told his lackey to allow my warranty exchange. You see, I had mine rooted (on 2.3.6) and loaded with a custom rom (ICS 4.0.4) and the lackey could see the counter incremented and all. He gave me the script of not being able to warranty it due to the rooting but the manager could see that I knew what I was doing and that the issue (no sim error) was a hardware issue so he said he'd take the hit if it came back due to the flash counter. He had the lackey try to reflash it with official rom with their samsung tools just incase the sim issue could be fixed with a flash, but no cigar. All that did was leave me with an official ICS rom that was unrooted with a counter showing 1. A couple days later the replacement came in and I transferred all my info to the new phone.
Now just to be on the safe side, even though the manager of the corporate repair center ok'd it, I decided to return the defective Gnote back to stock unrooted condition with it's counter reset.
What I did was,
Flash the GB stock unrooted rom 2.3.6 using odin.
Then flashed CWM using odin.
Copied the ATT stock recovery zip and the flash counter reset zip to the internal memory. Reason being is that you will flash the counter reset with the custom CWM and then flash the stock recovery after to replace the CWM with the stock ATT recovery.
Afterwards I checked in download mode and the flash count was :no which means I'm in the clear and the underneath it said Samsung Official.
I haven't used kies, but I do know that using odin was painless. I'd suggest browse these forums for a while until you feel comfortable enough and then take care of the problem without Kies. Could be done in less than an hour after hitting a few links in the stickies of these forums.

Its got nothing to do with the flash counter. Unless your phone is completely stock, Kies rejects it.

It actually was the flash counter. I wiped the counter and then tried, rooted and with a custom recovery, and it worked. Stock with a 1 on the flash counter and nothing.

[Q] Return phone to stock for sale

Hi Folks,
I am selling my GS3 to Mazuma mobile for £90 & need to return the phone to stock samsung rom from the custom rom I'm using at the moment (Fusion 2.0.6)
1 Use philz recovery to do full phone wipe & also the install new rom wipe.
2 Use Odin to flash the last UK BTU stock rom MK6.
3 Possibly use TriangleAway to get rid of the red exclamation mark when phone first boots.
4 Possibly flash stock rom again to be sure.
Are those steps ok or is there anything else I will need to do?
Would really appreciate quick reply as I will be wiping & flashing stock tomorrow before posting to Mazuma the same day.
Cheers.

Download official stock rom for your region, wipe data/cache from recovery, put phone in Download mode, close Kies from Task Manager, start Odin, connect phone to PC and flash stock rom. After the flashing process is done enter recovery and make wipe data/cache and then reboot. Use triangle away to clear the binary count + the exclamation mark. If it needs root permission flash a custom kernel to gain root and then re-run triangle away. After clearing the binary count and exclamation sign you can re-flash the stock rom. Make another wipe data/cache after flashing it and you should be good to go
Goodluck mate !!!:thumbup::thumbup:

Cheers for the reply AlexVat
Was kinda hoping it wasn't going to be so complicated lol, I assume when I flash stock rom with Odin that will wipe Philz recovery & just have the stock one?
Could it be possible to run triangle away first then then just flash stock rom?
All replies appreciated
Well triangle away didn't work when I ran that first & it didn't even reboot into it's custom recovery, also thought I borked my Samsung 32gb SD card, used my S3 to erase it after copying everything off it I needed but it then wouldn't mount again. Tried it in PC & kept getting write protected error when trying to format it.
As last resort I fired it into my Sony Z2 & it said it was corrupted, tapped the message & it then fixed what ever was wrong with it & formatted it. Will just flash stock rom tomorrow morning & fire it to them, from what I see online they don't really care if it was rooted.
All done, custom binary says no & stock BTU MK6 rom installed, will get posted tomorrow & will have £90 in my bank by Sat
Also getting replacement Z2 due to gaps, over heating & camera being off centre, will be checking it fully & using built in diagnostics to make sure screen has no dead pixels etc.
Mods can close this thread if they wish, many thanks to AlexVat for the help

Problem with installing stock firmware

Hi,
I have a S3 model GT-I9305 (2GB) for like 7 months. It had 4.3 version installed, and I wanted to downgrade to 4.1.2 or 4.2.2. In the about menu Baseband version was i9305xxuemk1. Phone does not have any recovery software installed, except the default Odin download mode (Home+Down+Power), and I am able to enter it.
Since I am not sure for which country / carrier the phone is made (here people sell everything from everywhere), I do not know the original version of ROM, and there is no official ROM for my country (sammobile / Serbia). I have tried several 4.1.2 ROMs for different zones, and almost all of them failed, except for one - I9305XXALI5_I9305EVRALI5_EVR, which is reported as successful installation in Odin, but after restart it hangs on samsung logo.
Anyone has any ideas?
So, it seems that I can install any 4.3 version, but cannot install any 4.1 version. Some fail on nand, most fail on sboot. Any ideas? Basically what I do is, put the phone into download mode, and load firmware in odin and flash it.
Don't install 4.1 roms.
After you flash in odin boot into recovery and do a factory reset and and wipe cache and delvik cache then reboot
I am not sure what you mean? My goal is to install 4.1.2 version.
I have followed instructions from this link, but it doesn't work. In final step, when I need to go into recovery mode (Up+Home+power), I cannot enter it, it just hangs on samsung logo.
However, this link helped, I was able to downgrade using Odin mobile

Why do you want to downgrade all the way down to a 4.1 rom.
Are you sure you are powering off then entering the combo to start it?
Because I have a major battery drain, which last from 6-10 hours, depending on usage (mostly calls 1-2h, very rarely internet). Hard reset did not help.
As I have learned, it is a known KNOX problem, that I was not aware of (I also have another S3, which does not have KNOX on it).

I have just read your topic title again, im sorry but i have no knowledge of knox since the i9300 does not have it, please get a mod to move this to the i9305 section where they can help you
Could you uninstall KNOX rather than going back to 4.1.2? http://www.androidpit.com/how-to-uninstall-knox
