In light of the fact that the Gplayer 3.6 and 4.2 do not have thier own forum due to EXTREMELY low activity (as in maybe 6 users), I have decided to create a big "General" thread, to help you guys out. I will also link to 4.2 threads, so you have them in one easy to locate location. If I miss one, be sure to point it out!
What belongs in here:
General...stuff.
Pertinent questions about your Player (I will do my best to answer them)
Questions about developing/making mods
helpful info/constructive criticism (NO flaming!)
Potentially stupid questions (Hey, what's general for if not to help out new users?)
What does NOT belong here:
OMG Guyzz, this player rulezzz!!
Questions/ideas about rooting (the 4.2 already has a rooting thread, and a pre-rooted ROM somewhere in there)
Unhelpful/random comments unrelated the the Gplayer 4.2
With that said (to hopefully make this thread as ueful as possible), let the question-asking begin!
This is where I will put useful info/links.

Hi SGS2 peeps,
First off I'm a epic 4g user, my girl friend bought SGS2 i9100 so I headed to XDA right away.
Looked under SGS2 i9100 there are 2 developments?? Thats confusing I had to read through http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1175660 to understand what exactly the issue is,
Anyways to voice my opinion I DON'T support split at all.
Reason: As a mere new user I don't want to look in two places and decide what to do more than anything else it is confusing.
If any developer so want to then they can easily create their own web portal for e.g. ACSyndicate over at EPIC 4G, they have probably the best ROMs for epic and have their own website, however they still actively post new development over here at XDA as well.
Anyways thats just my view, I don't think it matters to mods. So the question is: Which ROM currently users are favoring? and is there any separate forum (other than XDA) for SGS2 to follow ?
I dont support the same question or topic posted multiple times .
Nor do i support questions posted in the wrong forum .

Even I don't like duplicate questions but if above mentioned thread was not closed I would have replied to that only.
Well in any case if this thread is so much bothering, moderators can delete / move it, I'm pretty sure they can do this much after going all the way to split the forum.
Dear Modes...
Is it possible to separate the Android Development forum to sub forums as GB roms & ICS roms.
Its becoming very crowdy and confusing now....
Hope someone is listening...
+ 1 yes, yes
I actually was thinking the same but, when ICS ROM gets officially released (probably in a few weeks), development will only be on ICS ROMs and GB ROMs will be a thing of the past.
But still, I would love to see separate space for ICS ROMs...
This is a great idea - MODS do it
Yet another poster who should know better and post in the correct section instead of messing the forums up with inane posts .

+1
Great idea !
I don't think I've ever seen sub forums on XDA for separate OS iterations, so I doubt it.
By the way, this is a question probably more suited for PM or at the very least Q&A forum, definitely not Android Development...
1) Absolutely should not have had a thread created to pose this question.
2) I don't see the point of splitting the forum further purely along the lines of different Android versions. Having separate forums for the different variations of the SGS2 is fine/necessary, splitting the I9100/T forum into ICS & GB, meh.
all i think is things just need a bit of a cleanup, all the roms that have touch wiz and sammy stuff should go in the original android section and aosp themed roms and heavilly themed roms should go in android development, either that of have sub sections like they do on hd2
Most of the so called custom ROMs are photoshopped icons + JKay's mods. Once ICS gets official and JKay ports his mods to it, Gingebread "development" will disappear on its own, so no need for separate sections.
What we really need is to move all photoshop+JKay stock roms from Original Development to Development, so that original development section gets cleaned up a bit.

I was thinking the same.
Is not a good idea for me. When will be released officially ICS will have no sense to have two sub-forum.
Not supporting the idea. GB forum would be a desert in a few months, so they would have to merge it back or delete it.
it's a pain find all the info the "Newbies and Noobs" need. +1 I think forums need a cleanup.
Some post from Android Dev are full of the same questions! over and over again.

You hit the nail on the head noobs posting same question over and over . Why is cause they wont search and dont even read the instructions .So whats the point this is a developers forum not a help forum .Rule is if you are to lazy to search read and learn you dont belong on here .
XDA does not cater to the IWant I Want Know Know crowd .

I think this is a great idea, especially for us noobies out there!

Hahahaha i'm not a Android Dev but when i read some topics about "ROMS and FW" i just want a gun to shoot those noobs.
I think a better idea it's rise the amount of helpful topics to new members. Some like 15 or 20 Seriously!
Anyone else other than me prefer the ICS IME over JB keyboard?
I flashed the ICS Stock keyboard but, to no surprise, it created endless Force closes of htc input when I booted Jellybean Sense.
Is this a plausible?
Anyone backing me up?
You must have missed this post, even though it's sticked at the top of the forum...
EDIT: BEFORE POSTING ANY THREAD IN THE DEVELOPMENT SECTION, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING:
If you have developed a ROM/Kernel/Device Hack/Mod, or are working with others to do so, the development forum is somewhere to discuss and share ideas, post useful feedback and logs or crash dumps, and to discuss a common goal developers are trying to achieve.
It is NOT the place to post your question because it gets higher traffic, or because more experienced users frequent it. Doing this just annoys those who are working on the device, and drives them away. Developers don't want to wade through 20 threads of "Help me urgently" to find their threads for porting and fixing camera issues etc. Similarly, if a thread is designated as discussion for developers say, porting a camera fix, please do not post in there asking "When will it be ready?", "Can I flash this yet?" etc. This is both completely disrespectful to those working on the project (you evidently haven't read the important posts in the thread), and also is making it harder for developers to find comments from other developers or testers when required.
Similarly, don't make loads of "Thanks for your work here" posts in an active development thread. It's just as annoying to developers as asking when something will be ready. If a ROM is complete, then go ahead and thank the developer if you wish, but don't go into threads for devs only, and interrupt it to post "thanks". It's basically spamming, and is treated as such.
If you are posting in development, you should have read every sticky and notice there, and should be actively developing or helping in the development of something. Developing isn't installing a ROM, or using a tweak, it's creating a ROM or other hack or tweak. If you haven't read for several days before starting out on XDA, you are likely about to ask something already solved. I registered on XDA when I first wanted to post, and that was to join in a discussion on something. Sure, join up and ask a question, but read the information available in General and Q&A first, as your question will have been asked before. Search is your friend here, become familiar with it.
Regarding when to post in development if you are not actually developing something, there is one occasion where it's acceptable. If you find a leak of a new ROM, which isn't already posted, and you verify it's legitimacy via either running it, or based on the source you obtained it from, then this is assisting in development, and should be posted in development. If you want to ask when a leak will be available use search first, then if not already in discussion, open a thread in general or Q&A.
If you have a problem flashing a ROM, this is NOT related to development. It's up to you to determine if it is specific to a particular ROM, and post useful information in that developer's existing thread for the ROM. If it happens on more than one ROM, and isn't a known issue (remember you should read several times more words than you post), then find out what you are doing wrong. Check guides written by others, try to repeat the problem and see if it happens every time. Something needs to be reproducible to be fixed effectively.
Once you have identified what you need help with go to the device Q&A forum (general if device lacks one), and make a clear, informative thread that explains the issue, and what you have tried doing to fix it. Did you re-download the ROM? Did you ask a friend to flash it for you, to reduce chance of user error? What steps (exactly) did you follow? What errors did you see (exact wording)? Did you double check all the steps? Did you do a wipe or hard reset?
If you make a clear, concise, yet detailed post, you will find help forthcoming, and should get the problem sorted very quickly. If someone suggests you try something, report back on what happened, did it work etc. Then, next time someone has this issue and searches, they will find this and have a verified and tested solution.
So remember... before you start a thread in development, ask yourself what you are developing?... If you can't answer, then stop, step away from the post button, and think about where you are posting. Would it be better in General or Q&A, or is some more time with your best friend, search, required?

Did you ever find one? I do not like the Jelly Bean keyboard either
none
I don't like jelly bean period, it may never find it's way on my phone lol
Yeah, the JB keyboard is atrocious!
The darn ".com" is taking up half the space bar now and I can't type for crap because of that.
I never found one. And actually, I am sticking with Stock with Goodied 2.28 by Flex. It has all the features I want in it, volume rocker track control, multitasking, etc. JB sense seemed to have threw out a lot of widgets and funcitons that I found most functional.
Same thing happened with me and my EVO 4G. I got perfectly settled in one ROM and stayed there despite updated and new ROMS.
The purpose of this thread is to relieve some of the activity on Hyperdrive's main thread related to common questions. It is not currently endorsed by Hyperdrive's developer, Deviant Development, or in any way reflects the opinion or advice thereof. Hopefully Scott will link to this thread from his if it's helpful. :good:
This first post is currently a work in progress and will eventually be finalized. The entire thread is intended to be a constant work in progress.
I think this thread should be organized such that this first post contains a list of questions and LINKS to proposed answers. All proposed questions and answers should be posted in response to this post. Please remember to put the question in the subject line of your post (instead of "Re: [FAQ] Hyperdrive Unofficial Extended FAQ").
This thread is not limited to just questions and answers. I would encourage any discussion related to the FAQ itself or any answers. Answer whichever question you like (even one that may have already been answered but not to your satisfaction), format your post however you like, and I will link to it in this first post. Or just post a link to an answer that may already exist among the 663+ pages of posts in the Hyperdrive thread. Questions and answers need not be contained entirely within this thread.
To help prevent duplicated effort, I would encourage posting stub questions (one at a time, please) and then filling them in IMMEDIATELY.
If someone answered your question, don't forget to click "Thanks!"
Moderators, is this allowed? Anyone else have any suggestions? Feel free to start answering questions, and I'll update this first post daily with links to your answers below! I believe the strength of this format is that if you feel I'm not responsive enough / did not include the right answers, you can always start your own thread and link back to answers here (or anywhere else).

Where Do Babies Come From?
I Want to Complain About Hyperdrive. Where Do I Do That?
I Want to Complain About Hyperdrive. Where Do I Do That?
You don't. Hyperdrive is free, isn't promoting anything, and is the work of volunteers. You should respectfully report bugs or request features, but complaining about the direction the ROM is taking or the lack of your pet feature is unbecoming. Just like complaining that the free money someone gave you is too wrinkled for your liking, complaining makes you look really bad and doesn't help anything or anyone.
Can I Dirty Flash Between Versions?
Can I Dirty Flash Between Versions?
No. So far, not a single release has specified that a dirty flash is OK.
Technically, you could perform a dirty flash. Just like you could punch yourself in the face. But why would you do that? Don't expect any help if you do. Do expect lots of pain.
Why Does {Specific Menu Item} In The Hyperdrive Tweaks App Crash?
Why Does [Any Specific Menu Item] In The Hyperdrive Tweaks App Crash?
First, make sure your phone is in portrait mode. (Some apps force the phone into landscape or portrait mode no matter how the phone is held.) Some of the items don't work in landscape mode. Second, the third post (which you should have already read) in Hyperdrive's main thread says that not all of the functions are implemented yet. This may be why.
I'm thinking we might need an answer for "How is the battery life?" It seems like a silly question to me. Sbreen posted some tips to improve battery life, and actual battery life is highly dependent on how the phone is used. Even including screen-on time can be misleading, as you really don't know how that person really uses their phone (how far are they from the cell tower? how much time is spent on Wifi and not 4G?) and how that compares to your situation. Should we discourage this question from being asked in the primary thread?
Since the release of the first S5 transformation ROM people are wondering which one they should choose. And while other custom roms try to achieve very different goals, the S5 transformation ROMs are all trying to do the same: bring as much look, feel AND functionality from the original S5 to our beloved S3. Therefore it's much more difficult to distinguish the differences and to make a recommendation.
I wish that these 3 brilliant developers would build a team to develop one ultimate ROM, but since I don't believe that we'll see this in the near future, I desided to open this new thread to help the undecided ones finding the best choice.
Goals of this thread:
I'd like to read the experiences you had with one or more of the 3 ROMs. Let's help everyone who has no clue which one of this ROMs is the best for him.
Guidelines:
Keep it simple and only about what it does or doesn't do.
Always keep in mind that these ROMs aim to transform your S3 as good as possible into an S5. So please don't talk about features you would like to see that aren't supported by the original S5.
Don't rate things bad because you don't like how they work (for example recents button) although that's exactly how the S5 works.
Remain objective. Only rate the product, not the update frequency, not how polite the developer answers your questions etc.
Write more than on line. "Great ROM" or "I don't like it" doesn't help anyone.
Keep it up to date. Don't talk about how bad V4 of a ROM is if the current release is V8 (at the time I open this thread the current versions are: Blekota V7.0, Sensation V6.0, Glamour V7.0 or if you're one of the lucky beta testers V8.0).
And of course: please respect each other. Everyone has his one opinion. What you think is great could be terrible for another. Just tell what you think. No insults or harsh criticism

Sensation Rom Stable
OK guys, that's not what this thread is about. Please write more than one line. Be more detailed about what exactly you like, for example what kernel you use etc.
Blekota s5 , fast rom and my gear fit clock is working fine. But sometimes low RAM
This thread is a good idea but was posted in the wrong section I fear. This should be moved to the I9300 general section. I'm sure this will be done by a mod next time.
Wrong Section mate
Mod Edit
I can see this turning into a "Best ROM" thread.
"Best" or "Recommend" ROM/kernel threads are not allowed on XDA.
Please test these things for yourself.
This is the only way you will get an unbiased opinion, and then, you can decide for yourself if it meets YOUR needs.
Don't forget to make a nandroid before you start.
