As far as im aware you should be able to flash the LG8 UK unlocked firmware but only do this if you just want a stock firmware if your looking to send the phone to orange for any reason then the latest UK orange firmware is here http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=8&view=5288
Im assuming your UK orange

Does flashing stock firmware remove cwm recovery and root?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium

Yes I think it dose , it will not wipe your flash binary counter tho , so if your planning on taking your phone back to where you bought it make sure you use triangle away from the play store to have a full factory restore

Yes it will, once a stock rom is flashed using odin you should be back to standard recovery and no root.

However i rooted my phone, so i was planning to use triangle away to remove this, but it says i need to reflash with the stock firmware to be perfect, but the stock firmware for my region did not come out yet.

Hey I'm Australian and own an S3.. I'm sick of Vodafone update strategy.. I want to root, what do you think?
Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk 2
Ye root it, i rooted it too, except i think i need a replacement cause my phone has a problem.
Rooting could do lots of stuff.
If you ain't that good with computers and you don't want to stress yourself finding stuffs and working on it, don't do it cause it can risk your phone and might not brick.
Otherwise it's great to root
I've had the GNex.. I just hope it's as easy. Vodafone seriously piss me off..
I think Im Gonna root it.. just regret I didn't do that the moment I got it.. cause I seriously can't be stuffed going through the whole set up process again..

Why root it has nothing to do with updates or stock roms .

Would I be able to flash the latest original firmware without root?
Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk 2
lol
well actually looking at your statistics i think you know well
hahaha
SGS3 doesn't really need root, as it is already good enough
but can make it better with root i think
yes

flashing is just to do with odin...so
if you get the firmware file and use odin
no need of rooting

I'm not sure about the OTA update, as it's generally released by Samsung or the carrier...so

You can also download latest Official Firmwares from http://samfirmware.com
Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk 2
Yes. But you'll be able to do so with root too...
Many people confuse the two, so just to clarify:
Rooting means having a tiny modification in the phone's operating system so it doesn't restrict you from superuser commands. This will not affect your installed data or ability to upgrade.
Custom Roms is replacing the stock rom with a new operating system package someone else built which may or may not largely differ from Samsung's own version.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
I just want an official non branded ROM .so I can get the latest updates without carrier delays .
Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk 2
There are always delays, whether carrier-, region-, or whatever-related.
You can flash the newer Rom's through Odin tough (again: the flashcounter does not increase with original ROM's) to get it as soon as the file is released.
Unbranded S1's had to wait several months for Froyo update over here...
Where can I find the latest official firmware?
Also since I'm in Australia.. does it matter what region firmware I update to? Say.. can I update to an European based firmware?

Unbranded Danish stock rom

Hi
I couldn't find any unbranded danish official rom for the Samsung Galaxy S3 international version on sammobile, are some of you having one you could share ?
I need to flash my phone back to stock after rooting it, because I need to use my warranty because of some hardware problems.
So if I can't find any Danish unbranded stock rom, and I use a UK stock rom to flash back, would the samsung rapair center see that I have flashed a different rom than the official Danish one ?
Sorry for my bad English
//ShironLive
Try CHECKFUS to download firmware .

How to get Official JB Update (when it's out)

Hello
I just wanted to ask a question about the official jb update from Samsung.
I'm currently running a custom Omega ROM, if I want to change to the official Samsung JB, when it comes out, how would I proceed best?
I tried to find out how to revert to Stock, so I could just do an OTA update, but I don't have an original Stock Firmware Nandroid Backup..
I live in Switzerland and had a Swisscom branded Phone, which was not locked.
What do you think?
**EDIT**
or the leaked JB test firmware
You can find your firmware at sammobile.com. Just flash it with odin.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
If from OMEGA rom , do you want to go to a rom stock samsung , run before a nandroid backup and save the folder EFS , performs a wipe date , factory reset ,then after with ODIN flash rom stock samsung , if remains in boot-loop repeat a full wipe from the recovery ....
I would wipe phone and install JB as its a new OS not an update .
jje
there's still something i don't get..
i do still have the ota option on omega.. is the firmware seperate, which would mean that i would be possible to be on omega rom and have a stock firmware, or do i also return to stock rom when flashing the firmware?

No, because Omega is a costum rom,it's based on a stock firmware and kernel but, it's a modded firmware so you must wipe everything and flash with Odin if you want to go back to a Samsung Stock firmware.

HELP!! How can I get my base firmware version

I'm a newbie here and if I've said something inappropriate, sry first
I've a GT-i9300 with CM10: "10-20120907-NIGHTLY-i9300"
How can I get my base fireware version or something?
The only information I have is that its baseband version is "I9300XXLE9", nothing else can I get from Settings - About Phone
Is its base firmware "XXALE9" i guess?
Failed to *#1234#, and something else like that, only *#06# worked but no help for me
Thx~!

Jelly Bean is not officially out for S3. The official firmware by Samsung is still ICS 4.0.4. Search sammobile.com for ICS firmware of your region, wipe your phone and flash through ODIN.
I have a question - if I have a stock German Vodafone SGS3, can I flash the JB leaks? It says they're designed to be flashed over Stock XXBLG8. It's okay if I flash my german phone to a uk firmware?

Yes. Make sure your model number is I9300. Do a cwm backup so that you can revert back if you're not happy with it.

[Q] International S3 rom JB 4.1.2

I had an international s3 with international rom. I rooted custom rom but then I flashed back to stock, but I used a VodafoneNZ 4.1.2 stock rom not the international unbranded UK. Ever since then I've been having battery issues so I am just wondering whether there is a difference between International Unbranded 4.1.2 and VodafoneNZ 4.1.2 apart from what I heard that I would be receiving updates according UK if I had international?
If there is a difference and the NZ rom is draining my battery, how do I flash to international 4.1.2 rom if Im already on a stock NZ 4.1.2 rom? I tried finding guides but all are for custom rom to stock rom
Maybe one of the apps drains your battery.
Just follow the guides to flash a rom...

Should be my last question. hmm ok, let me get this straight. So I put my phone into Android Recovery mode (since its stock theres no CWM) and wipe data, wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik cache? Then use odin to flash a stock rom?
If what I said was correct, will it trigger my flash counter?
Here you go...and as long as you got root, flash counter can be reset, not sure though if it will be triggered via Odin at all.
