black bar/stripe in every photo app - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I get a black stripe in every photo app. I attached a picture. It is photoshopped to show you how it looks, because a screenshot doesn´t show it.
I have a cleanly installed UK Stock LG8 ROM.
It doesnt happen in the 16:9 mode, just in the original 8mp mode.
Any ideas?

I used to have a similar problem with my HTC desire but it would also have a nice purple overlay in the camera app as well as the black bar
Unfortunately the only way it got fixed was to send it back to HTC but im pretty sure they only updated the software.
Regards
Jack

1- go here and perform the camera software update (need to be done with stock kernel)
2-if you use a custom kernel, check that he use the last samsung sources release and not outdated one
3- if none of the 2 first work: try a factory reset

[Q] green tint on photos sk17i

Hi,
Both me and my girlfriend have the sk17i. We have noticed that on most of the photos we take the photos are quite green looking. are there any settings to get rid of this or camera drivers we can update?
Help appreciated,
Thanks
There might still be a small plastic cover on your camera lens. Did you checked?
Sent from my WT19i using XDA
we took those off when we get the phone. there is no tint on videos
Try different camera app to test

camera 360 appears to work well. Anyone know why the stock camera adds a green tint to everything? its a bit disappointing as I like all the options on stock..
thanks melander!
are you using stock rom and kernel?.
what fw version do you have?.
if stock, try going to applications then clear data on camera app, test.
try also doing factory reset in privacy setting.
an update may be available, try to do so...
if using custom rom, then try reinstalling it,
clear data, partition, dalvik, reflash rom...

[Q] Purple tint when using flash for camera

seem to be getting a purple tint around the edges of pictures when i use flash for my camera.
anyone else getting this or know of any solution?
Yes
1 take picture as close you can get.
2 take picture without flash.
3 fix the color later with image editing software, its easy just slide the blue color to the lower, or tint towards yellow, it will be fixed.
Or just install another camera app from GPlay, like lgcamera. Hope it helps.

On which JB firmware are you ?
JB is still in leaked state so it highly depends of your leaked firmware version. Maybe this is a known bug of your current leaked rom ? I can't know since I'am still using ICS.
Currently there is almost 1 release per day, and I heard that the first oficial JB rom will be upcoming for this october via Kies in french country.
Finally I found someone with the same issue. Agree it is really really annoying. I wish i could link quickpic app to camera images.
That is true, the screen space that the notification bar takes never gets used by full screen pictures, this means 10px margin on the top of the device even tho the notification bar is not showing.
That happens on the OFFICIAL POLAND kies update. And it took a good while until someone posted this bug

Bug also confirmed present in the OFFICIAL Australian Jellybean OTA update (yes we only just got the update a few weeks ago).
Have since ditched Samsung's Gallery app and moved to QuickPic, as suggested here and in another thread.
I'm finding the app is better than Samsung's offering anyway and at least it automatically rotates the screen when you turn your phone landscape! (this feature is disabled in the Australian firmware while viewing pictures)

ICS Camera

This is not really a question, but more of a suggestion for those who can't stand to use the current Camera on Liquid and Jesters Roms. Personally, I take a lot of pictures with my phone and the quality from that APK was quite bad when it was dark compared to what it was.
So after a lot of research, here's what I did:
Downloaded Root Explorer from the Google Play.
Browsed to system/app
Mount R/W and deleted Camera.apk
Downloaded this camera apk from MIUI: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15307536&postcount=167
Installed it and voila - working camera with focus.
Note: Camcorder still doesn't work
I'm not sure if it's required to uninstall the Camera.apk (chances are no), however it's what I done.
think this may work with AOKP?
No go

You mean it shows the controls, but a blank screen right? You have to take one picture like that, and after that it displays the screen and it works fine. You'll have to do that each time you start up the app unfortunately, but still it's better than crap quality and no focus.

I've noticed the grey screen on Siyah 5.0.1, I've tried CM10, and Dorimanx 7.26 but I still get a grey screen.

I tried several different camera apps, I reverted back to stock, I think my camera is broken.
