Double click on the thread title.
Someone here can probably help you, now that we know you actually do have an SGH-I777, but not unless you give us enough information. Please tell us everything.

Not to be an asshole... but if you can't figure out something as simple as changing the thread title, you should NOT be trying to root your phone. I suggest you spend a few days more reading and learning a thing or two before attempting to modify your phone.

If you look up 2 posts, there is a ton of links in creepy's sig - then there's the stickies.....

Not to be a asshole towards you ethier but i went to school for this stuff so normally i dont use forums, But i did figure it out without any help, i just have other issue lol.
well technically 2 but im trying to work on those, if you want to help be my guest.
i can turn the wifi on my phone and it will come one, scan for wifi and then turn back off (not sure why as of this moment)
plus i cant get my phone to update via kies, has to be something to do with a simple driver issue or whatnot/ it just disconnects when trying to upgrade

First issue probably just needs a wipe.
Second issue needs alot more info. but if you go back to stock, without root. and then upgrade you should'nt have any issues. other than the stupid brickbug.
Or you could just install custom, which is actually safer than at&t stock.

see im not sure the wifi does that, also when plugged into my computer kies says my phone needs a upgrade/ ive tried finding the custom rom/kernel or whatever you all call it by but nowhere to be found
going to look on here for that in a minute, busy fixing some ipods/iphones lol

Download mode doesnt work
It shows AT&T and keeps rebooting.. over and over. I have no idea if they will exchange it due to it being a t-mobile phone.
Maybe Try the jig
Not sure I know enough about the real issue other than you got the wrong rom. But, there is a jig you can make 301k resistor (or combo of a few to equal that number) soldered to a usb connector on # 4 & 5 pins look it up it will unbrick the phone and get you into the phone from there I not sure what you will need to do next but that would get you into the phone. Btw the resistors and usb cord less than 5 bucks good luck
Dude, you are being childish. I usually never flame but don't say you did because you didn't Enough. Slow down and take your time. If you are doing any kind of mods you should learn how to use Odin first, but unfortunately its always after the fact.
Learn how to use Odin, in the development bible I have a video there to show you how. Doesn't get any easier than that.

You are completely right. I was "trigger happy" you may say and I did it by rushing through it and ruined my phone. Luckily I have not yet sold my 3Gs and could use that until I get tmobile to exchange it.
The jig would most likely work for my case but I would need a step by step guide which unfortunately didn't find with images or video.
If I could just kill the AT&T boot logo it'd be perfect but sadly I can't.
I got the phone two days ago..so I am really sure I can get away with an exchange.
If you return the phone and it is booting with the At&t logo they will now you where messing with it and charge you the full amount of the phone which is around $400.
What you have is a soft brick. You can fix it if you bothered reading. Just follow this:

I wish mine was a soft brick but it isn't. That thread was for "phone ! PC" mine is a tmo vibrant that boot loops as AT&T captive since I flashed the wrong stock kernel.
Remove battery, SIM card and the external SD card.
Connect USB cord
Hold down both volume keys and insert the battery.
I love how everyone gives the same reply. The phone WAS FULLY BRICKED.
I took it to T-Mobile and said I did an update and this is what happened and they gave me a brand spanking new one! =D
Thanks for all your help though.

there was a failed message and my phone was locked in download mode. i shut it down by holding the power button and now it is in a hard bricked state. everything is black and nothing is recognised. when i plug in the charger nothing happens same with usb. ive tried all the button presses i could find volume up+home+power, volume down+home+power, volume down+home with no battery and then place battery... etc.

You flashed a I9000 ROM on an I9100 device?!
Kiss your phone goodbye unless you jtag it or send it to the service center.
You have flashed a rom for a different phone. The rom you flashed is for Galaxy S not Galaxy S II..
I have read a thread similar like this before but
for what I can remember his phone is permanently bricked. You might want to search
in the Q&A thread. This thread is for Android Development.

i don't know how i missed that. could you tell me what jtag is? is it the same as a jig?
thanks.
Yes it is totally bricked. Unless you have chance and want to try something. The USB jig to put i9000 and i9100 phone in download is the same ( Both use 151k oHms). If you try to use a jig on your phone you might be able to put it back on download mode. However, i would doubt that it work. Since you don't have the good Bootloader on your phone, i'm more like 97% sure it wont work. The black screen only is also a good sign of death. Sry to ear that. JTag is not the same thing than the jig btw. JTag is how they put the first information, at factory, on your phone. It can be used to put back the good bootloader on your phone. But if i remember well, only phone compagnie ( On this case Samsung) and a few person have what it take to make a JTag.

Thats from the creator of the i9000 ROM you just flashed.
Your phone is 100% bricked, just wondering why did you flash an i9000 ROM on a i9100 ROM, thats not only the wrong phone, but you also added a PIT files with Odin which also is not good for the i9100, and this ROM contains bootloaders.
its 100% bricked, however there is light at the end of the tunnel. A good friend of mine at Mobile Tech Videos can fix your phone 100%
hes the only guy that can do this around the world, only does it for 50 dollars, and he can guarantee fix your phone.
Just dont do this again, maybe next time flash DlevROM

I mean this guy is 100% trusted, and email him if you have questions.
hes the best bet for getting it back fast, and working.
Samsung will most likely play games, take longer, and ask you how this happened.
its your choice, but hes 100% legit, you dont have to use him Im just saying this is the best bet for saving you
Maybe if is better to send it to Samsung and let them figure it out.
If they ask what happened, just tell them that you left it on charger snd a few hours after it was dead. After all i doubt that theg can get info from inside the phone.
They will make a clean flash plus bootloaders.
That is what would i have done.

Just send your phone to get repaired. then next time please read properly and more carefully before you start playing with rooting and flashing

the reason why you should send it to dlev's friends shop to get it fixed instead of samsung is if samsung finds out what you did to the phone, they will probably charge you an arm and a leg for it...

Bricked

Guys my note seems to be in the most dreadful state possible. It wont turn on, I can't put it in recovery, when I connect it to the computer I can hear a sound signalling it does recognize something, but adb cant find the device (seems like it turns off).
This happened after trying to put the cwm beta4 recovery.img , nobody except me is responsible, I was trying to put flash the image, after running the command however it dint seem to me it made any difference after trying to boot to recovery so, I tried running the command again, except this time, it gave me an error which said it ran out of space or disk space, I tried restarting and it wont turn on.
Any and all help is appreciated.

if you typed mmcblk0p2 instead of mmcblk0p22, then it would explain the out of space, and possibly also the boot error...

this wont reset the counter like on certain devices but it will put the sgh-i717 at&t note into download mode just by plugging it in
then flash back to stock with odin. all of the info to do that is located in this forum
edit.. alot of these guys are right though, if it doesnt react to being plugged in or turned on no matter what, nobody in the at&t store will figure it out, they will mark it defective and give you a new one
Honestly......best idea.... return it. I'd actually suggest leaving it alone, on the off chance you got Odin to recognize it, and maybe halfway fixed the Note, it might then look to whomever you return it to that you broke it somehow. Basically the fact it won't turn on at all is to your benefit at this point.

As for the brick, i concur, returning it at this point would be best. I hate using dd to flash things, one typo can screw up the entire device.
if it turns on at all... you may risk getting it found to be modded. just sayin.
if i were you. Id find an old ac adapter cut the wires and seperate. then zap the prongs where the battery connects. in my experience, old laptop chargers work the best. be sure to cut the end off of the cord that plugs into the laptop. the brick will protect you from fatal or even harmful shock so dont worry.

[Q] Need Help Galaxy S3 Automatic Update Notifications

Good day,
Noobie doesn't begin to describe me. I just want to stop these update notifications on my phone and I've been trying for over a month with different instructions which usually ends when what I'm looking for isn't in the place where the directions said it was.
So five months ago I bought a rooted Galaxy S3 4.1.1 off eBay that I use on Boost mobile network. It was working when I got it in the mail and it still works great. Tried to contact the person I purchased it from but no reply. I like the phone the way it is, not trying to do anything fancy. Can someone please just lay out in simple (idiot) steps what I need to do to stop the update notifications that would be great? Thanks.

Anyway refer to that thread as one posted suggested accept the update and it will fail and let you live without the constant update pop ups, there's other fixes for it as well if that doesn't do the trick.

I saw the posts about hitting the Install now button and accept the update but I'm just saw terrified to do that and have my phone stop working all together but it seems I have little choice or just live with the notifications. I appreciate you help. Thanks.

I understand your concern, however there is a flashable file that can get rid of it, my only concern is can you use it. I'd have to check around a bit, but it's not hard to do at all, I'll see what I can find out and get back to you once I know for sure.

Should be fine bud, if you're rooted just make a backup first just in case... to get rid of the notification yourself (if you're rooted) just use a root explorer and navigate to system, look for a file called build.prop and edit it to reflect the new update... so if on mb1 change every instance of mb1 to mc3, save reboot to recovery, clear caches and reboot... if not rooted, nothing you can do about it unless you accept the ota update

Not sure if I'm rooted, thought I was since I'm using the phone on Boost. Read a could of post and downloaded a couple of apps to figure that out but still can't tell.

Download any root app and open it, if it prompts for superuser permissions then you're rooted... actually download this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck open and run, it will let you know if it's rooted or not...

Done. It reads: Sorry! This device does not have proper root access.

Ok so you're not rooted.. only way to get rid of the update notice is to actually install the update... don't know if that will mess up your boost flash but, but it shouldn't...

I haven't tried the Install yet. Wanted to hear from you first, will probably wait a few more days to see if something comes up. But thanks anyway.

From what I read it sounds safe to do, but honestly I'm even a bit iffy on it, most of the info is at least a few weeks old if not more. My guess is it will work and you'll be updated with more features than you have now, just afraid it could break something, like mms or voice mail.
In the boost mobile thread over in the sprint gs3 general section it looks like alpineman might be the best one to answer all the ins and out of this or perhaps others in that thread.

[Q] Hard bricked galaxy s3

I think I've bricked my device, somehow lost IMEI and put phone into factory mode, wifi doesn't work, the same goes for mobile networking. I restored original system. The phone boots just fine, all the apps work as they should except those that need internet connection. I'd like to give it back to where I bought it from but in Odin mode you can see that the custom binary download is yes (10 counts). In other words I'd appreciate it if you told me what to do to return the device and get it fixed or replaced. In order to reset the counter I tried to run triangle away but after running the app I'm told to download additional data which I can't do because wi-fi doesn't work. The phone is in factory mode and I have no idea how to switch it to user mode. I'm so hopeless that I even started considering microwaving it. Thank you for any input.
use search, read dozens of thread about factory mode

^^^ This.
@OP, lets just get this straight. You want help, but you are constantly abusing and being rude to the people who are helping you so who in their right mind would help you?
Glebun is right, search is the answer. I don't even own the SIII and yet a quick google or use of XDA's own search engine pulls up tons of threads that are relevant to your situation. I'm not posting the relevant threads here because I don't believe in spoon feeding.
Thread cleaned.
Edit:

Yea, lets get this straight, I won't get any help from you because you haven't got a clue what to do to fix my phone and it really doesn't matter how many excuses you can come up with. I'm done chatting with you guys, clearly it's just a waste of time. If there's anybody who has anything productive to say, please show yourself, I will appreciate any actual input.

Try the attached Triangle Away . I never heard that Triangle Away needs to download additional data before. Also your description is very vague. How is your phone hardbricked if it`s still powering on? Also you can use Apps? So you can boot into Android? I don`t quite understand what the problem is. So your efs folder is missing and now you want to give it back to the service center for repair but you want to reset the counter first?
Am I getting this right?
Also please show some respect to people if you want help.

I assume that it's hard bricked because I've tried pretty much everything and the phone is still in factory mode, IMEI is unknown, wi-fi and mobile networking don't work. I figured that the only thing left is to give it back and that's why I want to reset the counter. When I run your triangle away it says: "Triangle Away requires an add-on to be able to work on this device. Do you want to download and install this add-on?" I'd love to do that but it's not possible in my device's condition. Thank you for the input.
you ruined ur phone and you want to take it back for a new one..... you are the reason why cellphone companies lock down certain devises..... so you need to learn how to use Google

Thank you, I'll let you know how that works for me as soon as I've done it.
It's not hard bricked.
You have lost your efs, do you have backup of efs folder?
EDIT: what roms you have been using? At least Omega rom have option in Aroma that allows you to backup efs. I hope you have used that..
