Hi all!
Can someone help me to modify GB "conversations.apk" in order to avoid SMS to MMS conversion after only 3 SMS?
I came back from ICS because It doesn't work on xperia mini...lots of bugs and freezes and sometime reboot too.
I triyed handcent and other apps for messages but It's a pity (and a shame) to have to use alternative apps to do a basilar think of the phone (sending SMS).
I tryied to decompile conversations.apk taking a look to the xml files but I didn't find nothing about the 3 SMS limit.
I searched in /res/xml/mms_config.xml
for a line like: <int name="smsToMmsTextThreshold">4</int>
but nothing..
maybe it's possible to fix timestamp too and other things!
We (GB users) need a dev that helps us to solve this problem.
Can somebody take a look to this?
Thank You very much!
Mauri
PS: I attack conversations.apk decompiled (and zipped)!
Actually its pretty simple and you don't have to modify conversations.apk. You should do the following things:
1. Navigate with e.g. root explorer to /system/etc/customization/settings/com/sonyericsson/conversations/
2. Open custom_settings.xml with text editor
3. Modify the following line:
Code:
<setting key="mms-trigger-sms-segments" runtime="false">3</setting>
change 3 to your likings. If you don't have that line then you can just add it.
4. You might have to clear data of conversations.apk
Thats all! Hope it works for you
Huge amount of thanks to you!!

I was looking for this forever. Thanks!
Thanks! It worked for me! :good:
Hey I could not find the custom_settings.xml in the said path. I am using FlyLight ROM on Xperia Ray.
However, this helped.

Hi all.
I've been trying for some time now to get rid af this annoying bar. Eventually, i found out that i can't do it myself, and i need som help.
Objective: Removing the blue bar in the bottom of the screen, if you have changed your input method to another configuration than the roms.
Tries so far:
In system/usr/keyboard-config/layouts, i've tried to copy the settings from qwerty-no-dk.xml in to all other files (azerty.xlm, cyrillic.xml and so on). with this i managed to get every language selected to write the danish æåø, but when i deselect standard input, i stil get the original layout.
Tried to rename the Keyprint name: in the keyprint.xml - no effect.
Anyone wanna give it a try?
Regards, Heien.
The bar that has the time, date and signal?
I suposse that is the blue bar of the keyboard when opening the phisical keyboard. I also hates it
yep me too.. it is annoying when browsing it covers the lower part of the page
the .png is located in the SuquashiInputMethod.apk & can be modified to have other colors, i'll try to make it transparent, but give it not more than a shot into the blue, i have done it once on 1.6 & no alphablending enabled, so may just result in grey/black bar at bottom.
what u need:
go find Theme Reference Thread in X10 Dev Forum, read the part with .xml decompilation & recompilation & then find the damn .xml blamable for the icon to be shown.
simply delete image call & bar is gone
edit: digged into it further & decompiled suquashi
xml blamable found in /res/layout-land/querty-statusbar.XML
trying to get rid of it now
hmm seems like my decompiled files already contained failures, fc after managing to get it installed
hmm seems working..??
still not wanted effect..
how to define transluscent background of a relative view, if view needs 1) background & 2) background is not shown only by changing backgroundimage to transluscent
seems also to be on same lvl as "real" screen content..
remove SuquashiInputMethod.apk
I don't use the se keyboard. I removed SuquashiInputMethod.apk.
I don't have that problem And Swype is wonderfull
Yeah the easiest way to get rid of it is to use a different keyboard application.
I'm Currently using Swiftkey..
when using different kb, do you have symbols dialog & the other features from hardware keyboard?
hmm
Numbers you can, Caps you can
no smilies,no ascented characters-from physical keyboard
Smiles and ascented character can be inputed from soft keyboard
I do not believe that we need to get rid of the bar by changing in the xml and image files, i believe that we somehow should be able to alter the default input somewhere (as we did to get out custom languages working) to support our native input method. When i recieved the phone from 3 (in denmark) the language bar was hidden, althrough my input was with danish characters, and this is the effect i'm trying to achieve.

I've been looking at the same issue, and is quite annoyed. I think you're right in your assumption with the xml files - apparently i can only find the apk unzippers not the decompilers (dont have computer). The keyboard asis should be capable of functioning in the way we are looking for - on my device when i run terminal emulator the keyboard essencially does what i want (though the cursor in the terminal doesn't show keyboard state - symbol/shifted), and have experinced other situations when this giant bar of blue death finally dissapeared

try this:
1) in your home folder in apktool/framework folder you will find 1.apk open it with 7 zip.
2) pull framework-res.apk file from /system/framework/ extract resources.arsc, replace it with one in 1.apk.
3) Now try decompiling/compiling.
PS: if may not find the apktool folder if you clean all projects, load the project try decompiling ( it will create the apktool folder in your home) now try decompiling again
I've "fixed" the MIUI Mms.apk so that it will receive MMS' that are larger instead of the tiny MMS' that a lot of users are reporting.
I've tested this on my Nexus One (T-Mobile US) and have had good results (From 3kb imgs to 200kb+ imgs).

If you don't use the Miui gallery and use the regular gallery the MMS will look fine it's only the Miui gallery thats messed up just make the regular gallery your default.

If I opened the received MMS in QuickPic and in the MIUI Gallery App the image quality was identical (very small). With my mod the image quality is MUCH greater.
So I'm assuming you set the useragent to a different phone? If so, what kind?
For the most part, I've just always grabbed the Cyanogen mod MMS.apk and pushed it to system which always worked.

Thanks a bunch. Will test this out and get back later. Much appreciated.....
I'm running CM 7.0.3 on T-mobile USA and the fix for me was to go to the "stock" Messaging app, Settings, Custom User Agent, Custom..., and enter Android-Mms/2.0 and hit OK. From then on out the MMS pics started coming in fine.
NOTE: I use Handcent, but the change was made in the Messaging app, and then they started to work in Handcent.

+1 Using Handcent. Using IPhone user agent.
Thanks dude, it worked!
For those who are/were having trouble using adb to get this working (like myself), I just used Root Explorer to rename the files and make sure the permissions were the same for the new file:
1) Copy "signedBetterMms.apk" from 1st post to /system/app/ on your phone
2) Rename the "Mms.apk" file that's ALREADY in there to "bakMms.apk" (I only did this as a precaution, just in case the new MMS file wouldn't work)
3) Rename "signedBetterMms.apk" to "Mms.apk"
4) Check permissions for original file, and make sure they're the same on the one you just renamed
5) Restart phone
6) Test Mms!
I updated the original post to support the 1.7.15 apk.
Please reupdate it with 1.7.1 I didn't get a chance to download it, and whenever I try to open a thread, it crashes.
I wasn't able to get a 1.7.1 MMS in english, here is a Chinese one if you'd like.

Ah how depressing haha. I'll just wait until XJ's rom is updated and then I'll switch off of the Cyanogenmod one.
Why not upgrade to 1.7.15?

Because, I haven't found any ROM's with a D2W script in them and that's currently what I'm accustomed to, and XJ's doesn't update often.
If you could, it'd be really swell of you to update one for 1.7.22. I highly support this project. I'm tired of the boring Cyanogenmod MMS.

So, can we expect a new version for the 7.29? If not, do you think you can tell me how you did it so I could do it. Really hate having to change this everytime I update now. MIUI didn't always do this. grrr.

1.7.29 MMS FIX
http://www.mediafire.com/?5rx6x43v8av7ea6
I use apk manager 4.9 to pull the current apk from /system/app/Mms.apk
Decompiled it, then navigated to /res/xml/mms_config.xml from the apk you just decompiled.
replaced the whole thing with:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<mms_config version="4">
<bool name="enabledMMS">true</bool>
<int name="maxMessageSize">2073600</int>
<int name="maxImageHeight">1080</int>
<int name="maxImageWidth">1920</int>
<int name="defaultSMSMessagesPerThread">200</int>
<int name="defaultMMSMessagesPerThread">20</int>
<int name="minMessageCountPerThread">10</int>
<int name="maxMessageCountPerThread">5000</int>
<string name="uaProfUrl">http://nds1.nds.nokia.com/uaprof/NN95-1r100.xml</string>
<string name="uaProfUrl">http://www.htcmms.com.tw/Android/Common/nexusone/ua-profile.xml</string>
<int name="recipientLimit">-1</int>
<int name="smsToMmsTextThreshold">4</int>
<bool name="enableMultipartSMS">true</bool>
<bool name="enableSlideDuration">true</bool>
</mms_config>
Saved it. compiled it and pushed it back to the Phone.
I been using this same config for awhile. And sorry difrnt for hijacking your thread xD.

should be the fix as on the miui forum he was replying to someone requesting the latest fixed MMS.apk.
Really do hope you have one coming for 1.8.5. I tried doign it myself but I could not get it right and it wouldn't open...
Hi I after a way, mod/app/setting if I've missed it to change the order of the widgets on the notification pull down. For example I'd like wifi/mobile data/sync/power saving to be on the first screen as they are the ones I used the most.
Thanks in advanced,
Steve
Bump!
There is a how to. I think it should work for even the international version:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1770698
Here is some examples that someone else did:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775235
You will probably just want to change. \YourDirectory\SystemUI\res\values\arrays.xml
Within that file should be a list like <item>GPS<\item> <item>Sound<\item>
Rearrange to your liking.
I think that should do it. You will need to read up quite a bit to get it all. I had no idea how to do this yesterday though. So the information is available.
Here is my own simplified explanation of the first link's how to:
I used only the apktool1.4.4 and it worked for me. I used these steps on both Bean's and NoSympathy's ROMs.
1. apktool if framework-res.apk
2. apktool d SystemUI.apk <-At this point you should get a SystemUI folder with a 'res' subfolder, 'smali' subfolder, and some other stuff.
2_and_a_half). At this point you should be able to edit files to your liking. Once done:
3. apktool b SystemUI <- Make sure it doesn't say SystemUI.apk, leave off the apk, you are telling it the folder at this instance.
4. Copy the "META-INF" and "AndroidManifest.xml" to the SystemUI/build/apk folder. Then run the command a second time:
5. apktool b SystemUI
You should now have the newly build apk in SystemUI/dist/
Hello, dear friends.
So I recently discovered apktool (congrats to me lol) in order to edit xml files in android apps.
I was able to successfully perform cosmetic changes to settings.apk, so now I'm trying to do some trick with trebuchet.apk:
I removed all the wallpapers from trebuchet.apk, so I was really wondering if anyone can help me out with disabling "wallpaper_chooser" popup menu. What I want the app to do is to lead me to gallery straight away after I push "menu" button and press "wallpaper"
Is it possible to be done without editing .smali files? Maybe some link in some xml file should be changed and I'm good to go?
Thanks in advance
Would be great to share my to-be-made launcher with anyone (using winsuk cm10 now)
Hello,
Many users here are helpful and I have learned a lot..
To thank these good people I've modded a couple of Lollipop apk's and will upload them here for others as a thank you.
These two have been modded for my personal use.
SystemUI.apk mod:
After upgrading my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N910G) to Android Loillipop 5.0.1 I was again facing the much disliked "S Finder" and "Quick Connect" buttons in the notification tray.
As I dislike the S Finder and Quick Connect being in the notification tray, they have been removed.
Settings.apk mod:
Since I have disabled/removed a lot of apps I have no use for the following items, they have been removed from the Settings menu
Accessibility
Easy mode
Private mode
Safety assistance
These apk's need to be copied into their original locations (will need root access)
Please back up your original files before doing any of this as I am not responsible if you stuff something up :crying:
SystemUI.apk is located in /system/priv-app/SystemUI
SecSettings.apk is located in /system/priv-app/SecSettings
You will need to set the permissions to these files once you copy them over to rw-r-r--
Regards..
Here are the files
SecSettings.apk
http://www.mediafire.com/download/ctlzcyvenc2jka8/SecSettings.apk
SystemUI.apk
http://www.mediafire.com/download/cg1ne5ab3ue8j7m/SystemUI.apk
Enjoy
Will this work on SM-N910C?
Hi jmcostales,
I am not sure. I can only suggest that you "back up" your files and then try each one and see how you go. If the SystemUI.apk doesn't work for you the worst that will happen is a crash and no notification menu/pull-down. You will be able to copy over your old file and go back. I would assume the same thing for SecSettings.apk. It will either work or just simply crash when you try to access it. If it crashes just copy the old one back. If you decide to try these files don't forget to set the permissions once you copy the files over.
Thank you this work for me. you made me happy
