Bootloop help needed - HTC EVO 3D

CDMA evo 3d, hboot 1.50, unlocked with s-on and 4ext touch recovery. Tried flashing a rooted stock ics rom. Booted to the point where yellow lettering is starting to show in the Sprint boot animation, then it continues to loop from there.
I'm not new to flashing (started with an og droid) but have been spoiled by Samsung Odin. Feel kinda lost as to what is the next step. I have gotten back to recovery and reflashed thinking bad download. Any suggestions?
Thanks

For many people, ICS and s-on don't play well together causing bootloops. I recommend you get s-off.
Edit: Also what triscuit said below about the kernel.

If it's stock rooted based on the latest OTA from Sprint, you need HBoot 1.58, or it will boot loop. Like coal said, s-off that bad boy and you'll be good to go. You'll be able to switch to whatever HBoot you want freely.

I managed to get a stock gingerbread back on. It's my girlfriends phone so I doubt she'll let me install anything else now I'll probably wait and see what the devs can do with ics before trying again.
For now I'll just go back to trying different JB roms on my epic touch. But I would like to know who's responsible for integrating the buttons into the battery cover, what a pain.
Thanks for the help though

Possible for Froyo ROMS to Brick without warning a la GB?

I've had my thunderbolt happily running BAMF Remix 1.6.3 and Inoseyon's Kernel for about 2 weeks now. I bought an aftermarket battery off Ebay today and charged it up, then took the battery out of my old phone and put in the new aftermarket one. Tried to boot up, and am bootlooping at the white HTC splash screen.
Thinking the battery was junk, I put back in my old battey and tried to boot, same issue now, bootlooping. I can get into HBOOT but not recovery.
I'm not even sure what the solution is for a bricked phone in this condition (I'm assuming follow the "restore to stock" instructions in the development area) but I'm wondering if Froyo bricking is something anyone even reported.
I'm kind of in a time crunch so if anyone needs me to do something prior to re-flashing please let me know!
Okay, well I've been trying to research this (there REALLY needs to be a well-updated, concise Bricked Phone FAQ or something) and it does seem like I'm legimately bricked.
Phone goes to white HTC screen, then to black (shuts off it seems) then back to white HTC screen. Does this constantly. I can get into HBOOT but if I try to go into recovery, I'm back to the white screen bootlooping.
I tried factory reset, same deal, just went straight to white screen. I have no way of knowing if downgrading to the stock RUU would help without actually DOING it, which from what I understand would not be helpful to you folks.
Per HBOOT I still have S-OFF, and I'm more than happy to try to give you folks the info you need, but I have no idea how to get ADB to talk to me phone when it's not even able to turn on. I would need someone to give me reasonably simple instructions for how to do this.
Also, I can't wait forever on this, I'd post it in the actual development area but XDA feels I am not worthy of posting in there due to my noob status. If someone needs me to run some tests on the phone before flashing the stock .zips in HBOOT I need to hear back on this soon.
If hboot is stable and not looping, you should be able to flash the stock ruu, then unroot again. Gb loops happen in hboot too that's more serious

You can return to stock via the instructions in that thread if you like. But if you don't want to have to root again and you aren't bootlooping in hboot, you can flash the rooted MR1 RUU in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1082114 . This will take you back to rooted MR1 update. Just download, verify md5, rename PG05IMG.zip, put on root of sd, boot into bootloader and let it flash.
Excellent, thanks for the info. I hadn't realized the legit bricking issue caused hboot to be unstable as well. I'm almost sorry it's not the real deal, I was hoping to get you guys the emcc data ya'll were looking for.

Help getting back to EVO 3D GSM Stock

Hello,
Right, I am aware that I've probably made a huge mistake, but I thought, "hey, warranty void because of my screen, why not?", but I have searched and searched and was up until three this morning trying to find a solution, but I only kept getting confused (bare in mind I'm only sixteen).
I rooted my phone using the HTCDev method, and flashed the LoLic Sense ROM, it worked and I turned my phone back on and it got stuck on the bootscreen. So, I downloaded the RUU and tried to go back to stock, and it kept failing. I even tried the PG86IMG.zip and even that didn't work. So, I downgraded to the LEEDroid ROM that came with the revolutionary package I'd used before the official update to ICS, and now I can't even get past the initial HTC screen.
Please can anybody help me get back to stock on my phone? I've managed it before, but this time I keep seeming to come up short.
Thank you
EDIT:
I'm on HBOOT 1.53.0007 - after updating to the official ICS.
I've tried downgrading using the Gingerbread RUU and it won't install on the phone. I can't S-OFF using the wire trick because I'm afraid to break it even more.
I've tried flashing the rooted GB zip in clockworkmod and it says its installed, but I can't turn the phone on and it only gets to the first white HTC screen and then turns itself off.
I'm terrified that I may have broken my only phone and I don't know what to do, please can somebody help me?
If you are S-ON HTC Dev unlocked you need 4ext with smartflash or fastboot flash boot boot.img to install the kernel.

Bootloop city.

so my wife got a replacement evo being hers had a few. issues. came with 1.50 hboot. i did the downgrade method to 1.40 phone constantly reboots or bootloops at times. i figured well maybe was a firmware issue. so when sprints firmware leaked. i updated it all even bootloader. its now 1.58 hboot. shows locked but s-off. i still have 4ext recovery installed on it. i have tried to flash the stock rooted rom. the phone boots after sits idle for a litle while it will go into boot loops. im at my wits end here. thinking it maybe hardware now. want others opinions. before i flash stock non rooted and bring it in for service. any thought?
You could try to unroot and go back to stock to see if the bootloops stop.
Man i love FrootLoops.. oops.. crap, i read the title wrong..
ON a serious note, do what coal686 said, go back to factory stock and start from scratch. Take out as many of the variables as possible.
so how do you suggest i do that? there is no ruu for the new ota update. im on newhboot. so im lost as to how to attempt to relock to stock for service.
so i ran the pg86img for 2.17 everything down graded fine. then rat the ota update to ics. updated to ics 2.89 fine. weird thing is it still shows s-off. only thing so far sense has froze on her twice. but the reboots have stopped. waiting a day to make sure. then ill unlock if i need to.then stock rooted for her.

You don't need to unlock as s-off is better.

I'm in the same boat the only difference is my wife's phone is completey stock no root & s-on latest ics update hboot 1.58 u know the rest. Started bootlooping out of nowhere & I don't know what to do,did a factory reset through bootloader & still bootloops like crazy! Any ideas would be helpful & thank you in advance!

I NEED HELP! Want to go back to stock.

I just got this evo 4g lte the other day in a really good trade (straight from an 8gb iPhone 4, I know right!) Anyway the phone had a codename android rom on it (CM10 based) and I wanted to flash it back to something close to stock as my intension was to sell the phone since i don't have sprint. So the first thing i did was go into TWRP 2.2.1 and factory reset. I then installed Mean ROM ICS. When i rebooted the phone would not pull past the boot animation for the rom. I tried flashing a couple other roms with no success and last one i flashed was mean rom again. I also tried to use the 2.13 RUU to get back to stock but it wont work because i can't boot in to android . Next i had the bright idea that if the phone was relocked that it would start the RUU for the bootloader that i can still access. Well guess what, that didnt work! (duh)
As of now, the phone has a relocked bootloader (I know how to unlock again if i need to), is S-ON and using HBOOT 1.19. I would just really like to flash it back to stock but i am now very frustrated and lost and i am supposed to sell the phone to someone for $275 today.
Any help is much appreciated!
When you flash the Rom you flash the kernel separate since your S-on. Follow the directions on how to flash in the OP for the Rom and you'll be good to go

I suggested in another thread that you should try 4EXT recovery and use the "format all partitions except SD card" option before flashing the ROM.
Have you tried that yet?
ramjet73
you need s-off, non-ics bootloader and updated radio. 4ext recovery is good for evo 3d
where do i get the bootloader and radio? i installed 4ext and formatted all partitions and now jb roms just restart at loading screen.
OK, the same exact thing happened to me the other day, even though i had the newest radio and Hboot 1.4, JB roms still wouldn't boot.
I tried everything, but the only thing that fixed it was to run an RUU, then reflash Hboot 1.5 or lower (i am using 1.04 ENG), after that, (using 4EXT recovery) JB roms would boot!
Don't worry, you will remain S-OFF after the RUU.
iv yet to find an RUU that works for my phone
the problem with ruu is my phone is cloned to run on boost. if i ruu that will be undone
just to keep everything straight ill post waht iv done so far.
shooter xc ship s-off rl
hboot 1.40.1100

4ext recovery v1.0.0.5 rc8
i believe i have the latest firmware.
last roms tried were android revolution HD 2.0.1
and slimbean 1.1
revolution will go to htc quietly briliant screen and hang there for a while then reboot.
slimbean reboots quite quickly at the same screen.
i cannot think of anything else other than ruu and start over from scratch. 150 bucks later.
any help or ideas are much appriciated

I guess it comes down to how badly you want to run the JB ROM's. If you know for sure that flashing the RUU will mess up your boost flash then I wouldn't do it, but if you don't know then only you can decide if it's worth risking $50 for a Boost re-flash if it doesn't work.

Can you recommend any good ics roms? i was using d3rp's lights out but some people, myself included, have issues with the phone and messegening having lag.

I mentioned this is in the ROM discussion thread already, but I suggest giving the Negalite BluROM a try, and there are many other good Sense 3.6 ICS ROM's in the development forum.

I tried that one. i couldnt seen nto find the app for messegening tho. iv got a couple. guess ill have to keep digging till i find what i need.

My advice would be to stay on a ROM that seems promising for at least a week and try to get some help in that thread to resolve whatever issues you have rather than bouncing around from thread to thread. Any ROM is going to take a little time to settle in and for you to get more familiar and comfortable with it.
ramjet73
i did like that one, but the lag was a problem it had since hte beginning and seems to be sparatic from different users experiencing it. i dotn knwo if there are multiple versions of hte evo 3d or maybe ther eare just some conditions that are different from soem people that are hard to track down. but that is a specific problem they had over 3 versions.
CCCRRAAAAPPPP...... i think updating the firmware broke my phone. my account cannot be validated.....
well. seems iv already hosed my phone..... can i get the link to those ruu's again and maybe some help figuring out which one is for my evo 3d?
if its already hosed suppose theres no harm in the ruu now.
ok. with ramjet73's guidance i have gotten up and running with a stock rom. i should be unrooted. i am s-off. hboot 1.58. no working recovery
what do i need to do to root and get jb roms working. hopefully not doing whatever it is i did wrong before.
thansk for the help.
Just to give an update, i flashed an ruu and have s-off. i did install teamwin recovery and can run ics roms it appears. however it seems jb roms still cannot boot.
i am stuck and not sure where to go from here.
Did you flash Hboot 1.04, 1.4, and or 1.5? JB roms will only boot using them.

Yes. however it still would not work. i ended up having to ruu the phone back to stock (thanks to ramjet73 for pointing out which version of the many i tried that was the correct one) and redoing the whole proccess. i still had problems, but it is working now (just gotta figure out why i only have 1x data access)
here is a hint for anyone that may be having the same trouble. i do not know if this was the issue, but install 4ext last. it was after a reinstall of 4ext that it started working. i do not know if this is what did it or if i just got lucky. as i read some people jsut have troubles and have to ruu adn do it all over again to get it to work. before doing this, just in case, try re installing 4ext. maybe that is a hint to what people cannot seem to find the problem as it does not happen often. maybe, i dont know. just glad its working.
