Nandroid with Unlocked from Locked - Motorola Photon 4G

I am running Jokers CM10 right now, if I restore one of my backups when I was rooted and locked and then restore a backup of my CM10 with bootstrap will I be unlocked again ? I hope that makes sense

Nope.

Ok, thanks for the reply :good:

But I could send you zip, that you can flash before cm10 restore and you will be unlocked after reboot. Maybe pulling battery after flashing will be needed.
After restoring stock (you would have to restore stock boot.img and recovery too), you could flash lock zip I can provide, to be locked.
But I am not sure, if you could restore cm10 with bootstrap.
Maybe that unlocking zip would have to flash cwm recovery too. And restore cm10 from that.

Woah, really? Did you make this zip yourself Peetr? I would be interested in that. It could be useful to refer to people.
And nimzp, thanks for the 'thanks'. You just put me at my first 100 :good:

I will post the link here, when I get home. It was tested by one person.

You are welcome Acvice :highfive:

http://d-h.st/aVy - just flash with bootstrap recovery and reboot (maybe power off or battery pull will be needed
http://d-h.st/LWb - this is the locked one from 198_7

One question. If i try to restore my old backup when phone was unlocked i get error while restoring boot image. Is it normal or is there any way to restore a backup (taken using custom recovery) when phone was locked. Now phone is unlocked and using CWM recovery.

Nandroid backup for future use?

Hey guys, I've got a hopefully simple question. I'm gonna be going to Vegas soon, and I'm running on an ICS rom, but I want to be able to use the good camera and my 4G for while I'm there. However, I don't want to have to set everything back up once I come back one by one since I'll only be gone for 4 days.
So can I do a Nandroid backup, save the file, re-lock my phone and put it back to root, then once I come back unlock my phone and then restore said backup so everything will be the way it was? Sorry if this is a mouthful, but that would be my ideal way of doing things. If not, are there some good alternatives?
Thanks guys!
As far as I can tell, that should work. Just make sure you remove your custom recovery before you relock.

brain what do you mean by "custom recovery before you relock" how do you do that?

If you have cwm installed and you try to relock it, your phone won't boot (iirc). If you sbf back to stock, it will reinstall the Android stock recovery and relock your phone, and you'll be all set. Otherwise, you'll have to find the Android recovery somewhere to download, then use Fastboot to install it, then relock (and to be honest, I can't remember how to do that. I think I remember people having problems flashing the relock file.) Easiest is to sbf after making your backup, then when you get home, unlock again, flash cwm, and restore your nandroid.
Hope that made sense.
And if you sbf and your phone bootloops, boot into the stock recovery and factory reset.

hy, i need urgent help!!!

i'm new to rooting, custom roms etc, and i tried to put a custom rom on my htc evo 3d, i read there to change the radio fw, done..then put the rom...the rom installed, and now the phone is blocked at the start..white screen and htc logo...the recovery and hboot is working..but it wont start...what should i do, it's there a solution(i'm disperate(. plase help. (sorry if i've posted this wrong)
Try to factory reset , wipe cache and install Rom again .

The first time a newly flashed Rom boots up it can take a few minutes to start. Factory reset/wipe and restart the phone. Set it down and walk away for 5 minutes minimum. It can be hard to do with the anticipation but sometimes it just needs to be left alone till its loaded everything

Don't panic you probably just need to install the kernel boot.img via fastboot.
Turge has provided some very nice instructions in his thread, here
Just make sure to use the boot.img from the rom your trying to install rather than the one in his tut. (it's in the romname.zip file)
Didn't you make a back up before flashing a custom rom? If you did, just try to restore it first.
You need more info about your setup: cdma/gsm, s-on/off, HTC unlocked/locked, hboot version, recovery, etc.
If u are hboot 1.50/HTC unlocked have a look at the guide in my signature.

Good point. U NEVER flash anything without a good backup. I leave the last 2 backups on my ad card and delete the oldest everytime I flash a Rom. That way if one is bad hopefully the other one isn't.

possible solution
let start of by do you know how to get into recovery? did you follow instructions from site when trying to root? did you follow and understand all steps?
do you have a recovery software loaded like 4xt or clock work mod? do you remember doing a backup? if you can get into recovery then you can fix your phone and its far from bricked.
Is it still broken? have you fixed it and not updated the forum?

Question about recovery

I have a stock kernel, so it itself does not have recovery, I rooted and got recovery by installing cwm.. Now if I flash a custom kernel, it would bring recovery with it, and not the one I had installed.. Than can I restore the backup I have done with the older cwm ??
Yes.

Flashing a kernel won't, unlocking bootloader will. Back up /sdcard/clockworkmod before unlock.

Okay so I copied the backups from my cwm folder to my pc, now if I unlock the bootloader, flash a kernel and then place them back there, and recover, would I get the same phone as I have now?? (i mean all the apps and stuff)
I have Romtoolbox pro installed

Thats the theory - if its a Nandroid backup :good:
Rom Toolbox Pro makes backups of your apps and if you are referring to that you will end up with a phone you will have to setup again.
When I unlocked my bootloader I just started from fresh...but I tend to do that rather than keep rehashing old problems
Yea I too love that, I only backup my contacts, and media is always synced with my laptop, asking for knowledge
And yea I backed up using cwm recovery (is it called nandroid?? )
Use the thank button, it's there for a reason

Go backup pro is a good alternative for backing up apps, settings, and even the home launcher settings, but since wednesday they made it a paid app. If you exceed to 200mb they will not allow you to restore your backup if you don't have the premium version.

[Q] Need help restoring a backup in TWRP

I made a backup of my HTC EVO LTE Stock ROM in TWRP, I flashed CMX, now I want to go back to Stock, so I went to TWRP>Install, I can see my backup folder under /sdcard/TWRP/BACKUPS/name of backup.. but I when I select the folder it does not give me the option to Install it. It just opens as an empty folder. I did notice the folder is not in a .zip format. Is this the reason why? Did I miss something during the back up process? And if so, how can I fix it? Is it as easy as just converting the regular folder into a .zip folder then try to install it this way?.. Please tell me not everything is lost, lol.. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

There should be a restore option on the main screen in twrp recovery. If you hit that it will allow you to choose what file you want to restore

Need to Restore But Getting Black Screen
Okay so my situation is similiar to the OP.
I was running CM10 then a custom sense Rom.
I made an original backup, but when I restore it I get a black screen at boot.
Typically when I flash a Rom I have to fastboot flash the boot.img which is no biggie, but there's no boot.img that I can find in the twrp backup.
Might be just as easy to flash a stock Rom, but not sure exactly where to find one. Everything I've found is rooted or custom in some way.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

The ROM I'm trying to restore is the original state of my phone. Would this be a stock ROM with a versioning date of October 28th(the day I got my phone and made the backup), current stock ROMs, or launch stock ROMs. Basically will any boot.img work from a stock ROM?
I do see the boot sector being written during the restore process. There is a boot.something.win file in the backup folder for the backup. Can this be fastbooted? I'm a bit timid to try that, but thinking it may be worth a shot...

Thanks for the quick reply, QuickWizard is very fitting. I actually got it after I finished going my own route though.
I grew a pair and went with my got and I went ahead and flashed the boot.emmc.win from the twrp backup in flashboot. It successfully got me booted and logged into the phone. That said the stock rom is so crappy...
But, I was having issues on CM10 with MHL, on a "stock rom with goodies" I was having radio issues with the latest firmawares, so now it's back to my rooted stock backup and I'm doing the HTC System OTA update... Should be interesting what happens next...
Again thank you all with the quick replies!

[Q] Boot Img & Restoring

So I have rooted my HOX+ & installed custom rom & it's bootloader.
I have made a nandbackup & now I want to try another Rom & so will have to flash it's bootloader.
So it I want to restore the nand back up I made & clean everything out will I have to flash the boot img for the restore img I am about to go back to or does the nand back up the boot img as well
Hope that make sense?
Thanks
I posted the same question a while back and I didn't get a response.
However, what I do know is that restoring a nand will not restore your boot.img because we do not have S-off. So, your recovery software will not be able to flash the boot partition in the nand restore. You'd have to restore that boot.img seperately in fastboot. IF you restore a stock nand coming from a custom ROM, I'm pretty sure you'd just hang at splash screen until you flash back to that same custom rom.
I also don't know if you can extract the boot.img somehow from the nand.
So, I haven't verified this works yet, but if I ever have to, or want to restore the stock nand, I went here:
Stock ATT ROM Zips
Downloaded the stock rom ZIP, extracted the boot.img and then I'll fastboot flash before\after restoring the nand.
Let me know if you try this out, or if someone else could confirm this is the correct process?
Thanks

I hear you brother:good:
Actually....when the boot.img is flashed it is extracted to where it belongs. So backups do back up the boot.img. Just restore and nothing extra has to be done.

Yes you do. Your most likely going from sense rom to sense rom, you its not needed. If your on a CM rom and try to restore a sense rom s-on you'll bootloop
