Weird. What colour is that? Doesn't look like the normal blue.
Anyway, I have seen that alot but on the white S2, which had a similar type cover as the S3. Like the paint and / or clear coating had cracked.
Fyi, I have seen the original battery covers / doors on eBay for around $15.

Definitely looks like the paint/glaze is cracking, not surprising considering the flexibility of it....what I can't understand is why they color it after rather than incorporating the color in the moulding process?

It's not my phone, but the owner who took the pictures edited them so the "cracks"(?) would show more easily. It is only possible to picture it with blitz in a specific angle.
Tried bending my cover but I can't get the same "cracks".

The thing I really loved about the S2 was the textured back cover on the black model. Practically impossible to scratch, as opposed to the white which scratched easily and also had cracking on the paintwork as shown in your pics.
Seems like the S3's are going to suffer the same fate. Like I mentioned earlier, I saw this quite alot on the white S2. Good thing replacements are cheap.

Nope.

Curious to know how he uses his phone:
-the "A" in SAMSUNG is almost dead
-the metallic shape of the camera lens is scratched

Awesome mod! Can you do this on mine also?

Looks like chemical cracking
"Tried bending my cover but I can't get the same "cracks"."
If you want to have the same cracks in the cover bending won't help. There is no varnish on the backcover of the Polycarmonate backcover.
I I yould see those cracks unter the microskope I would be sure, but on the first view it looks like chemical induced stress cracking.
It would be interesting what type of cleaners have been used on that back cover. Or did he try to clean the backcover in the dishwascher?
Some alcohols (like isopropanol as used in glass cleaners) and perfume oils even some spices damage polycarbonate.
You can google that (Polycarbonate and stress cracking). That is fairly common with that material.
If you want to be sure not to get such cracks keep to a moist microfiber cloth for cleaning

Looks like someone stepped on the back cover or whole phone, what gave it away is the A in Samsung almost completely missing, so the owner did something to it

I have the same straches like that on new out of the box white one model. If someone want i will putt pictures to see

I would like to say that there is a varnish coating on the back of my S3 (white) but it still could be due to a cleaning agent

White Galaxy Note: Stains

Just bought a white Note yesterday, and it already has stains on it from my jeans. Is this normal? I'm going to have to swap it for a black if this is going to be an issue...

Should wipe off with an alcohol swab. New jeans that aren't pre-washed will do even more dye transfer.
Well, that's going to be an ongoing hassle for me. Looks like I'll have to trade swap it for the black model.
(the jeans in question are over two years old!)
Lol I use my white note naked and put it in my pocket with no stains what so ever no stains at all and I've had my note for a while maybe its something on ur end lol just saying

You could be wearing a light wash. Dark wash jeans is probably the problem. You should actually only wash dark jeans with dark jeans for the first few cycles because a lot of the wash comes out.
But even when they are broke in...dark wash jeans will always have this problem; at least moreso than lighter was jeans.
Usually you can just wipe it off will alcohol, but over time the white phone will become dingy. It simply doesn't hold up well. Its the nature of the beast.

I have the same problem but on my yoobao case. It has a dark blue rim on the edge of the case.
Thanks for all of the replies, guys. I was on fire about the white color, but between the staining and the low call volume, it has kind of soured my experience with the phone.
Decisions, decisions.
I dont think its bad as the white htc one x though.

Regarding the yoobao case..I had the same problem...I tossed it since I only paid a couple bucks for it. I thought the white was actually fading off? Never thought it might be my jeans.
no issues here with my white one..jeans, oil, tranny fluid, grease
everything wipes right off
I have definitely had issues with my white Note. I was inspecting the back of my phone a short time back, and I saw blueish stains. I had no idea what they were, then it kind of dawned on me that it could be from my jeans. I took some all-purpose cleaner and wiped furiously over the back phone cover, but it really didn't do much. It was almost if the stain had embedded itself within the phone. I'll try using alcohol, but I don't have much faith it'll work. I was really upset about this.
No issues with stains on my note from my jeans. What kind of jeans come with dyed pockets?

Alcohol wipes did the trick and cleaned up all the faint blue stains that were on my Note. I think I'm still going to swap it out for the black one, as I don't want to have to clean my phone every other day.
I don't really wear jeans so that's probably why my white one doesn't get staines .my army fatigues doesn't stain it thankfully but if it ever does get stained anyone found a solution?

Easy!!! here is an old tutorial back when I did my Old EVO
Is done with a sheet of Carbon fiber wrap used on cars
If you dont have the Cardon sheet PM and we can work something out !I have plenty!!
Firts. I detach the backcase
Second, peel off the carbon fiber wrap and stick it to the clean surface of the back of your phone.
Third, Grab your wifes / girlfriend or mother blowdryer and just mold the edges. ( Common sense, when you appy the heat the wraper will mold to any shape or corner. No need to over over heat )
Then trim to shape, with blade / exacto knife.
Then your ready!!
Dinoc ftw!

I like the metal/wood ones

Looks like the 3x3 sample swatches would cover the top piece for $.99 !! (assuming it doesnt shrink too much)
It says, "They offer samples on all vinyl" but I could only find so many.
If someone wants to stick a ruler up to and check Brushed aluminum is nice!

I was wondering what is left behind on the plastic cover should you choose to remove the carbon wrap? Does it leave a sticky residue which I guess Goo Gone could remove easily?
I was wondering same about 'undoing'. As for goo gone, hopefully you don't mean something like goof off, which is lacquer based and would essentially melt the plastic cover.
Edit: yeah, that bushed aluminum looks sweet! I, personally, think a lot of them look too shiny/glossy.
Now, if only Wallet worked, I'd order it lol

Goo Gone not Goof Off
Never used Goof Off, but the product Goo Gone is good at removing any sticky residue left from price tags or stickers on products. I don't think it would harm the plastic, and it probably isn't lacquer based.
Is the carbon fiber very smooth or does it have some texture / grip feel to it?

No, if you remove it it will not leave any glue or sticky stuff.
Actually, where do you get your carbon fiber from? I'm sure I could use plenty of that on phones, automotive, audio, and everything else I own.
A lot of companies will you send you a free sample of Di-Noc. That's where I got mine (to do my OG 4G).
If this is actually removable (so I don't need another top cover for returns), I'm so doing this, just gonna make sure to carve out the camera hole so I can see the red.
Just did the same thing, the back hole including the red ring is approx. 1.2mm in diameter, and I just found something around that size and cut a hole around it, then stabbed the xacto into the cutting pad and slid the piece around it like a jigsaw to finish off the circle. The total job took around an hour for perfect cuts of all the circles aside from the camera due to me being a bit of a newbie and a bit blind.
Someone said that they make a 15 dollar thing that does the same, but looking at the skinomi carbon reviews, it looks like around the corners they use relief cuts in order to make it around the corners. Using di-noc or a similiar thin vinyl wrap, you can heat it up around the corners and get it to stretch slightly and actually wrap instead of just leaving some parts slightly uncovered to make it work. In my experience also with other products that do this to corners, those sections peel off after awhile because they get caught on your pockets while you slide the device in and out.
Second time working with Di-noc, my vision is a little blurry right now from all the focusing up close, so i'm going to take a break from the monitor, but before I go, one VERY important tip to anyone that is going to try this: use a new blade on the xacto, the sharper and pointier it is the easier time you will have with all the details, i ended up using just the very tip to cut out most of the details.

Aluminum ring bumper Case+S-view combo?

Hello ,
I'm having this Idea about using a metal ring bumper case along with the S-View cover from samsung, That way i would get good protection +the good feeling of both metal and leather combined (I do love the leather-ish back and the part i am most concerned about is actually the plastic chrome plated frame of the phone)
Do you have experience with metal encasement? would you think it would effect signal strength if only the side frame was covered?
PS: Thats the only metal frame I've found on Amazon

I've ordered the poetic and s line cases. the s line case for my note 2 is fine although the stand is flimsy. it only cost 5 bucks though so what are you going to do. I'm hoping the stand for the poetic holds up when you press on the screen.
That aluminum bumper looks nice, until In noticed that weird bump out on the lower left corner as seen from the front. Likely for a lanyard loop, but wow, what an awkward execution of that feature.

I zoomed in on the picture and it looks like there will be no scratch protection for the back. You can see the fake stitching, so the back must stick out enough to scratch the cover & camera whenever you lay it down.
I'd also expect the inside of these aluminum bumpers to do horrible damage to the phone, it looks like there's no protection between the phone & the aluminum.
Can someone with an aluminum bumper comment, please?

I've never cared for carrying & changing batteries, so I like the wireless charging adapters. That way there's no need to remove the back. Even if you don't worry about scratching the back cover, bumpers don't protect the camera.
There's another aluminum bumper you might like, instead of needing to remove a screw to change batteries, the frame slides apart.

For anyone researching this case before buying, I thought I'd post my experience. I'll try to list the aspects of the case as I experienced them with the "unboxing" as it were.
First off, ecstatic that I finally would have some decent protection for my phone. I put on a screen protector and cheap case while waiting for the Kraken to become available. Nothing of huge interest opening the package or taking the case apart (I'd watched a lot of S4 Kraken videos).
The inner silicone Perseus case is REALLY flimsy. It took me a long time to get the front over the silicone without wrinkling it, it took me several tries. After that, the Perseus and front easily snap together with the back.
I had to take off the kickstand to get the case to lay flat. With the stand off, the rubber corners make contact with the desk and I don't have to worry about scratching surfaces.
With the phone screen turned off you can see what looks like oil or something between the protector and the phone but it seems to be lessening over the past 24hrs and this oil look isn't visible when the screen in on. There is increased Spen friction from the protector. I don't know if I'm just getting used to it, but it seems to be getting smoother. I've found the protector to be a lint magnet as well as smudges/fingerprints.
All sensors, microphones and speaker works fine. The speaker even seems louder now.
The headphone and charger flaps close firmly but not the Spen one.
The Spen is a pain to get out but I guess I'll get used to it.
There doesn't seem to be any glare from the flash when taking pics.
The power and volume buttons seem to work better with this case than on the cheap slim case I had on previously.
I find the case big: 3 5/8" x 6 3/8" x 5/8" not including the protruding corners ( 3 3/4" x 6 1/2" x 3/4" with corners)
Overall, I think this is a solid case with good protection but time will tell (I work in construction)
I forgot to mention a couple of things. There is rubber on the sides of the case where you grip it. This is also where the belt clip connects
The clip seems to grab well enough. I tugged at it in different directions and it held. The ratcheting tension seems weak though. I can see it wearing out fast. As far as how the phone looks on the belt, I think it looks kinda goofy but maybe I just have to get used to it.
Also, I got the tripod connector for the case. I don't know if Trident has different size connectors to match diferent phones but the one I have isn't long enough to clear the side of the phone. I'll have to try to modify the shoe on my tripod to get it to work.
Sounds interesting but a picture is worth a thousand words. Guess pics can be found elsewhere online.

I can't speak for the bar mount, I never held it in my hand. But I can say that the tripod mount only actually clips into the case on one end of the mount. There is a lot of resistance when clipping it in and taking it off. I think initially you should be good but I would wonder after all the vibration it would take, would the clips start to loosen up? Trident does make a bar mount, but if it was me given the cost of the phone, I'd have another exoskeleton replacement when you start to see it loosen up. I think the trident mount has rubber inside of the area going around the bars so it should diminish the vibration.

It works fine. I haven't noticed any loss since I put it on. The compass needs constant calibration but I don't think that has anything to do with the case.
Had the kraken for my old gs3 and I don't like the corners on this version. It's a tank though.

The corners are pretty beefy for sure but they make for nice, quiet gripping on the back and the 4 sides. It's too bad they don't protrude past the face as well.
Just bought this case. So far so good.
I only have to complaints about this case
The power button is very hard to push down and use. Is anyone else having this problem?
Also the screen protector it comes with has the "bubble" effect I'm thinking about just taking it off. I already have a screen protector on there.

Have a pic here, but dont look good with the silver color, think the black one will do it instead.
I hear that using glass protector on lens while using flash will result in shady photo, can u test that ?
I don't have any complain at all [emoji1303]

Doesn't this block the holes for the laser autofocus?

Look at the area below the flash under strong light. You can see two tiny holes. That's the laser autofocus.
You are right. God dam it. How can they sell stuff with such obvious deficiency? And besides the cover is mounted real tight not to mention the sticky tape. It's gonna be really hard to remove it without trace or damage.

I use this aluminium protections but after 2 min i took them off. It add weight and thickness to the phone, not to mention that they are not case friendly at all ! My case could not be in perfect place because of this cr..p ! I took it off and install again the Tempered Glass Transparent Foil. Trust me, it looks much more better and protect the camera way better than aluminium covers. Cheers

Because the currently sold version has those holes. I guess he bought them early or old stock.

I bought it about 3 weeks ago, it came without holes. Where did you find one with laser holes?

I bought my carbon fiber skin from xtremeskins and it came with the camera skin and has the laser holes. You can even get a fingerprint skin. They ship globally.

I ordered Skins from them as well.
In the beginning of the launch of the phone, there were basically no camera glass protectors.
there was that one where the glass covered all the cameras, and left a hole cut out for the flash, which made no sense.
then those Covers came out, and I didn't like the design of them at all. Far too chunky, hole cut outs for the cameras seemed too small, and like a previous user mentioned, were MISSING cut outs for the laser/sensor. Also taking OFF this cover seemed like it would damage the housing. was a no thanks for me as well.
Finally, xtremeskins came out with Skins for the Mate 20 X couple months back.
I ordered the Clear Matte; Back and Camera Protector from them.
Took about 2 weeks from their place in UK to Canada.
Attached some pics, the fitment/clearance of the cuts are much better than anything on Aliexpress and Ebay. Trust me, I've been using those crappy ones until I got these.
The worst/ most inaccurate cut out for the Skins that came to me is the Fingerprint cut out. but its not that bad.
Hope this helps.

Garbage. I'd never put anything like that on a lens. Nice case though [emoji108]
