Stuck in ap fastboot - Motorola Droid RAZR

Ok guys, I dont ask questions in here lightly, when I ask a question its only after hours of (fruitless) searching. I was invited to the soak test for the ICS update, BUT there were still traces of root on the handset so it kept failing, SO I tried the droid utility to un-root but for some reason pressed the wrong option (I know I know) and it attempted to load a version of firmware incompatible with my razr. SO I got the ap flash fail message and nothing else - a couple of hours later and about 15gb of files to flash through RSD lite, I am still no better off, I just can't find the right image, there is one that appears to install, but then it wont boot and goes instead to the ap fastboot screen boot fail.
Is my device dead? Or fixable? I have tried getting version info from the Moto website but they need the IMEI (which I have) AND a serial number which I DONT have, I have no idea why I tossed the box, nbot like me as I dont keep phones for long but for whatever reason I did.
The phone was second hand and has NO operator branding on it at all so I assume its retail, It was on 2.3.6. Please please someone tell me it's not as bad as it appears!!

if u got ap flash error.. I'm sure u just the right rom to flash via RSD lite n u should be ok.. try give some more info if u can.. like are u xt910 or xt912?

The only details I can access are on the back of the handset - Its the XT910, I know the IMEI number but thats not relevant,
The back also says, Type: MOC2E Fcc Id IHDP56ME2 Ic Id 1090 - P56ME2,
That is all I know, the phone has no operator software installed that I ever saw so I am guessing its a sim free retail model.
I have tried every eu fastboot flash file I can find, (about a dozen of them) I'm scared the battery will run out and leave me completely stuffed!

You can only flash phone with ICS fastboot not gingerbread firmware.
There are couple ICS fastboot leaked by sbf.droid-developers.com, download ICS firmware and flash phone with RSD lite. good luck.

Downloaded it eventually and although it installs through rsd lite, it still WON'T BOOT, this time I get the fastboot error boot fail.
I tried it several hundred times, I'm getting very desperate!!

I Need Help Please

I have a razr maxx and I am (or was) on the latest ICS OTA. I rooted my phone trying to flash a rom. I tried flashing two different roms and it kept telling me "signature verification failed". So after a while of trying to flash and being unsuccessful I decided to try to RSD back to stock. Now that keeps telling me that it fails. Anything else I can try? please help me out. I'm willing to either flash a rom (or try to) or go back to stock, just want my phone working again.
Thanks in advance

go to droid -life.com, search Fastboot Files Released for DROID RAZR Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4 Build 6.7.2-180
download this rar and put in on your desktop. plug your phone into your computer and make sure RSDlite recgnizes your phone is there. Also make sure you are using version 5.6 or higher (not sure if they have updated higher yet). now click the 3 dots bsides filename bar, go to your desktop, go to the rar file on your desktop and choose decompress and flash. you should be goo to go and up and running again.

Do not extract the files to your desktop. Keep them in rar form. Once it is done flashing your phone should reboot and there you go

Everything the previous poster said is true as far as how to fix it. The underlying issue is that you were (more than likely) trying to flash a GB ROM on an ICS system. The "Signature verification error" comes up because when your phone went through the ICS OTA, it updated the bootloader to a newer version. When you flashed the GB ROM, it throws that error because the version numbers are different from the GB bootloader to the ICS bootloader.
Just a little background info. I'm also curious were you just not paying attention to the version numbers?

yes as he said. Make sure pay attention to the details of things. ALWAYS do research on something before you flash it onto your phone. And as far as being on ICS you can no longer do anything with GB anymore (including roms and anything else)
Try Battery Calibrate from Play Store =)

bricked razr-tried everything!!

Hey guys
Bricked my razr during a unroot procces whith the 1.6 utility..
I have flashed ICS before, and now I tried everything to get the damn phone to work..
Its bought in sweden, so europe retail it is..
The recover mode dosent work, just goes in AP flashmode and shows invalid sp data..
Have looked everywhere for a solution, the latest guide i followed was this, and it got stuck on "sending system" in the cmd promt..
Seems like the bios(or what its called) is corrupt?!?
I was on GB first and flash this:
672.180.39.en.EU
Flashed whith RSD lite the Blur_Version.651.167.21.XT910.NonEFIGSRetail.en.EU .zip
All attempts with RSd lite has failed, the zip above just shows XML error when decompressing..
Whats the next step guys?? If their is any??
Thanks//
Need some more info. What were you on before bricking? And what does that file flash that you tried to sbf with? Gb? Ics?

Tried that file, for once the flash passed in RSD lite, but still dosnt work, now the motorola logo shows, but still boots in fastmode whatever i do,,

Whats the next step??
Thx for the file anyway

Since you flashed an CDMA Fastboot on an GSM RazR, you're sitting in the same boat, like this Guy...There you find the solution for the Webtop, but i guess you'll stuck after that...
I had this situation two days ago, until I found the right sbf/xml suitable for my device. (I tried 6 and all failed)
Don't worry bricking your device, this why I like Motorola devices especially when you have a locked bootloader.
another tip for you some sbf/xml on droidevelopers are password protected, so you need to extract files using password (supplied in the threads) first then put it into RSD lite.
If you choose un-extracted (password protected) file to RSD it will give you errors (fail) during decompression.
Hope we'll hear good news from you soon.
Take care.

[Q] Have I bricked my razr?

So I had ota ics and using safestrap to run aokp jb 4.2.1. I was messing around in 4636 hidden menu and activated usa band. Searching for a fix didn't help so I figured I could just use rsd lite and re-flash ics. I had long since the first time deleted all the files so I got the ones from sbf droid developers.org. The first I tried had 11 points and failed at 1/11 with a cdt.bin error. Then I got another which ran till 6/xx and then return the same error. The xx is because I didn't notice how many points it had to run through.
Do I have any options?
In rsd lite the device properties are all blank and they have been for both attempts.
Thanks

That error means you tried to flash an sbf with a lower version than you had on your device.
Make sure the sbf you are using is exactly the same you had running and for the same region.

OTA's only work once if phone is stock.
Android version can't be downgraded.
What are you trying to do?
As I said in OP, I was messing with stuff I didn't understand. I got the factory cable and also one of the old sbf files. I have checked that the one I have is for UMTS but it is still in CDMA mode. It just will not switch bad to UMTS mode.. I was using the wrong android version when I did this the first time but it is now flashed and working. Only problem is the radio thinks it is CDMA..

Factory cable for power. The phone had been unpowered for a year.
Term or not, I was just referring to the file extension. All these oem abbreviations, meh. I wouldn't even know if it was one or the other. It was listed as a sbf, so that's what I called it
But thanks replying. The is working now. I guess it must have been the right radio after all. Thanks anyway

How to fix fully bricked/fastboot failure/CID error on Motorola Razr (XT190S)

Hi to all Razr users here! I know some of you have seen me that posts alot of questions and asking for a help on different forums and threads here in Motorola Razr world and now it's my time to give a contribution on how to fix a Moto Razr from being fully bricked with an error of 'CID error' or '0X0056' error. (YAY! JUST FIXED MINE A WHILE AGO!)
Scenario:
-My device is in stock 2.3.5 Gingerbread firmware.
-I've tried to flash a JB 4.1.2 firmware on my device via RSD lite v6.x
-My device got stuck and won't boot and got the '0X0056' error causing to not get past the Motorola logo.
Instructions on how to fix:
-In my own experience, you don't need to have a backup of your CID because it is not needed on the flashing stages.
-Make sure your device is still alive and has still juice to power the battery on.
-Download a firmware of your choice http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=10 (I've downloaded the fifth one *Fido Canada*)
-Extract the .xml file inside the firmware, open with notepad++ and delete the line where 'CDT.bin' exists then put it back to the firmware .zip
-Extract also the 'allow-mbmloader-flashing-mbm.bin' file.
-Make a .bat file using notepad and write this fastboot commands:
Code:
echo off
pause
fastboot erase cid.img
fastboot flash mbm allow-mbmloader-flashing-mbm.bin
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot reboot-bootloader
pause
echo on
(Make sure you have the latest fastboot files from Android SDK tools and have 'allow-mbmloader-flashing-mbm.bin' file within it, these stuff must be in the same folder)
-Connect your device and boot in AP fastboot then ran the command.
Note: I've ran this without any 'ERROR' code which prevents the files from wrtiting.
-Just stay connected with the device.
-Use the RSD lite and use the firmware you downloaded.
-Now click start.
-When you saw the device being shown with 'CID error' DO NOT DISCONNECT THE DEVICE, JUST LET IT GO ERRORING ITSELF.
-Wait for at least 30 seconds, after that the device will shutdown then it will boot again and you will see an Android is somewhat upgrading stuff. (YAY! this is the progress I've ****ted all the way off!)
-Press power button, volume down and up simultaneously and boot with BP tools.
-Wait and you'll see your device is reviving and booting again!
Note: To prevent the annoying 'CID error', someone said we must install BMM or SS recovery in order to get past and avoid that error whenever we reboot our device.
That's all! Happy fixing! Hope it helped you!

A little addition to this guide based on personal experience:
I did this in several firmwares trying to unbrick my device but after CDT.bin deletion, RSD Lite won't start the flashing process followed by the message sayng that "some files are missing from original package" and "please add/replace them" or "try another package" etc etc
In that case, the ONLY thing that can help you unbrick your device is CID deletion via fastboot, letting you flash any firmware you want (the question is, however, which of them will actually boot after completing the flashing process without errors.
I tried several firmwares, actually all GSM versions and the only one that booted was Taiwanese stock retail ICS. After that, I upgraded stock FW to JB 4.1.2, again trying several FWs and this time the only one that booted was stock retail JB 4.1.2 for United Kingdom (?!). But, this doesn't matter much as long as you can unbrick your device, boot the stock, root it and install custom recovery and after that the choice is yours. My device was bricked the worst possible way (erased boot, system, data, recovery partitions and tables, all gone except fastboot, with a dying and unchargeable battery. So, I made the "factory cable" myself and started from scratch. After a fair amount of trouble, I did it, what you can see from my signature.
Anyway, deleting CID is no big thing, and trust me, you won't be missing it at all. If that's the price for making your device work again just go ahead, I think it's worth it.
Make backup of CID...
Does anyone tried that method, to make backup your CID?
If your XT910S/K soft bricked why not to try by flashing XT910 2.3.6 system.img? It should boot to Retail XT910 2.3.6 with XT910S/K kernel.
If you get boot you can try rooting it & backup CID with Terminal Emulator. When erase it...
Still... with ics(jb) you'll need be with erased CID, but having backup never hurts... I just wanna to help people save unique CID.

I just wanted to be on stock ICS Im fine with that. THANKS! Sorry for the broken grammar.

I agree that you should have CID backup, but I really had no choice but to delete it, there was no other way to unbrick it. And if you were on ICS, you cannot downgrade to Gingerbread, you can only flash ICS or JB.

If you on ICS you should also boot with Retail XT910 ICS system.img because your kernel will be still ICS XT910s..

As for me, I don't think that CID would be worth saving, since this device was bought in South Korea, then shipped to Australia and from there shipped to me here in Serbia So, since I couldn't rely much on customer support or service, I decided to delete CID in order to unbrick the Razr. Of course, if there's a chance to save your CID you should certainly do it but for me, CID doesn't mean much in these circumstances.

thanks @JovieBrett
but what special this guide do compare to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43806194&nocache=1
we still need to install BMM/SS to pas that customer id screen..otherwise it will give black screen after that CID screen
I took the phone to ap fastboot
flash the .bat file you told about (echo off etc)
flashed firmware with rsdlite
it gave cid error. then android logo with loading (i think thats what you said android is updating)
then I ran with bp tools and it reached OS
if I restart it give black screen after CID unless boot with bp tools

Yep unfortunately that's the problem right now. It can only boot with 'bp tools' option. The only thing you can normally boot it is to install a BMM or SS recovery so that it can bypass through booting the CID error without encountering the black screen. As of now, I don't have the required stuff to fix it and don't have the knowledge to find what's behind that problem. The device (Motorola Razr) is not mine, I just fixed it for my friend. I think we can only live with the recovery installed because without it, it's impossible to boot the device normally without CID.
Take note, booting with BP tools is like booting in safe mode, it does not save any progress you made after you customize some stuff on the main screen itself.
I clear your doubt.. It does save i tried with several power offs and restarts

Please help - bricked my phone

Hello
i think i have managed to brick my phone. I have followed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2402943 by the letter to root my phone which worked fine. Then i tried to install CWM and and since then i can't boot up. I always get "encryption unsuccessful" error message.
After googling i found that i need to unlock my bootloader but when i try to get my token i get FAILED (remote: unsupported command)
My display shows when i try to enter fastboot
AP fastboot flash mode (s)
)A.77
eMMC Info Size 16G
To return to normal mode - first press power key to power down
Device is LOCKED Status Code :0
Battery OK
OK to program
Transfer Mode:
USB Connected
Any help please?

Why did you tried to flash older firmware?
If you were on JB then you must flash JB Fastboot file.
