Hi i was wondering if you can help with this, i just have my dell streak 5 my problem is, it is not charging and usb cable wont be recognized by my computer, but when my phone is on fastboot mode my phone was recognized by my computer. What seems to be the problem? is it the usb cable or the usb port of my phone?pls. help
note: I also was able to update my phone with different Custom ROMs but still it wont charge. pls help.

maybe you dont have the dell android driver installed

Take a closer look at the connector. Do you see any distant pins? When my phone returned from Dell RMA, they had ruined the whole thing. 3 or 4 pins were detached from the board. The phone was charging and connecting, but always with the danger of an electrical short.

did you try to check in engineering mode what could be wrong with your battery?
mine was displaying temp fail 65 degrees Celsius but the battery was not even warm...
I'm now ordering for a replacement battery to rule it out...

I am having trouble with my Pc not reading my HTC HD2,when i plug the USB cable in the PC it say's device not supported.
For the last six months i have had no problem i just plug it in and i could read the storsge card in my computer with the rest of the drives ie C: D: E: ect, now it wont read at all i have windows media device centre installed and it wont pick it up either,any ideas. I can bluetooth and charge the phone no problems ,Maybe the usb cable

with teh phone connecvted, (after it has said not supported) open up device manager on the pc, find teh entry which will have an exclamation mark, right click it and choose4 uninstal. then try it again.

When i open windows mobile device center it does nothing even while my phone is connected,it just says phone not connected,i have uninstalled windows mobile device center a couple of times and nothing happins,it seems that when i plug phone and USB cable in the usb port or pc just wont recognise it at all.

He did not say open device center , he said open "Device Manager", you can open it from computer management in the control panel ...
You did say it said "device unrecognized" that means the pc is "seeing" it , just not seeing it right ...
When in device manager find ,the item that is this "unknown device" if you are not sure which it is, unplug it see what dissapears, and what reappears when you plug it back in, it may just be under usb devices or the similar ..
Then Uninstall that device, then unplug the phone, wait a few seconds and plug it back in ... also plug it right into the computer do not use a usb hub ...

Still no luck,below pic's are the messages i am getting when i plug my phone into usb port.
Note my card reader and flash drive work ok on the same usb port,so i assume its my phone or usb cable.

i have had several experiences with usb devices malfunctioning and causing that kind of error. and a few of those times i was able to isolate the problem to a faulty cable. but those were generic usb/miniusb cables (ie not supplied with the device... just available loose in the market). if its a cable supplied by the OEM, i doubt it would fail all of a sudden. but try swapping cables and see... good thing hd2 has a standard mini usb interface...

Did you right click and Uninstall the "Unknown Device" then unplug and re-plug?? ...
Yes i did all that,i got a new USB data cable today and all works fine now.

Did you solve this problem because I m getting same problem with my cable. Charging but no connection with PC or Notebook. No Memory card reading or syncronize
Straight to the point as I need this fixed ASAP.
My phone can charge via mains and USB port on my laptop.
I cannot however mount SD Card or go into USB Debugging mode. The menu on the phone does not show up at all. Only charges.
I have tried different cables including official sony ones and a few third party ones to no avail.
I tried different PC's still nothing.
On the occasion I get "USB device not recognised" but it isn't a driver fault at windows end.
Done a factory reset of the phone... still nothing.
Please help

I discovered its a loose connection within the phone. try every position at the phone usb end i have to hold the USB a certain way to connect
I flashed my atrix using RSD lite and unlocked the boot loader. Once complete the phone rebooted and everything works fine except when i plug in the USB it flashes USB Connection in the notification bar and then quickly disappears. It will not connect to my PC. The PC detects it and then says device unplugged.
I have tried 3 computers 2 USB cables - wiped cache and reformatted.
It still charges and when in RSD or fastboot mode it works fine.

To me it sounds like you need some drivers.
If you're on windows 7 it will automatically install proper drivers. If not, you have to download the drivers for the device to work properly.

I have the proper drivers. I have plugged another atrix in to the same PC and connected with no issue. It is only this device. It connected fine before I unlocked the BL
this happened to me as well, are you able to charge normally? if you are not able to then it means that you have the exact same problem I had with a atrix, if you are under warranty I suggest you try cashing it in as there is mainboard damage, swapping the microUSB port will not help, I think there is a fuse on pin 2 or something that is blown
The phone charges fine. And the usb works in fastboot and rsd mode. When i plug usb into pc it charges just will not install
I do have same problem with my motorola atrix 4G. How did you get it resolved ?

Hi all,
I am in desperate need of ya'llz help! Recently I followed the following instructions to the dot:

in order to get root on 10.4.1.B.0.109. I ended up, like the author of the thread, in the so called bootloop. Tried everything and eventually managed to get out and restored to root 4.1.2. Thats where I am now.
The tablet works fine, however i am unable to connect to my pc with USB and also unable to charge via the charger. The tab is not detected in my computer, nor PC companion. Mass storage mode nor media mode work. I tried swapping cables, same.
The only thing I am able to get working through USB is charging when the tab is powered off, which means that the USB port is not broken.
I was thinking that updating would fix the problem, so I tried updating directly from the System update in the tab. It downloads 109, then restarts to install it, comes back with: "Could not install"!
Now my tab is not detected on my PC when its on, what to do ? How to update/Fix the USB problem!?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Update
Ok I realized that the plugged cable only makes the red LED on the left light up, and when i click the power button, I see the battery picture in the display. Showing half charged. But the actual charge is not increasing.
Unplugging the USB, turns off the LED!
Help!
No ideas anyone? It charges from dead till medium. But no USB connection to the PC is possible! Cant update

put your sd card in an adapter, put that in your pc and copy a zip with a full rom on it, put it back in your tablet and install the rom? Or try a different usb cable, maybe it's broken

hold power + Vol+ to reset device and after that try to connect to pc to flash in flashtool.

thanks for the replies. Ive tried those already. Ive tried all different types of roms. The problem is that you need a restore image such as dual recovery on the tablet. Its rooted but there is not way to install a recovery image on it, without using a computer. And since it wont connect to the PC, no way..

Anyone know why the phone isn't charge ?

when i turn off the phone, and device stay on connect the pc, the phone is restart, not in charging mode, and boot normal but not charging

Mostly a problem with the usb port on your phone. You could try using a different cable and see if this improves anything. Does your phone charge with normal ac charger?

idk usb problem is, but when going to download mode, phone is charging, try different cable is same, also all is normal but my phone can't charging normally

Did you try reflashing stock rom or did you flash a different custom rom? Because you should reflash stock rom.
