Hello all,
I need some help please !
I recently rotted my galaxy S2 and applied jelly bean ROM to it (X-Treme CM10)
All is working good till now.
But, when I long press the center button, I can only see recent apps. There is no option to open task manager.
Please tell, is there any other way to open task manager ??
I'm a bit lazy to open settings --> Apps --> and then close running apps.
Any kind of help is highly appreciated !
ALSO ...
I wanted to know that for how long the battery lasts once i recharge it to 100% ???
Help please

isnt the task manager app there in the apps? Also, you can select task manager widget/shortcut on your screen..havent used jelly bean yet though..but the task manager should be accessible by methods mentioned
Hye,
you shouldn't always rely on managers to do your tasks.. better try to do given tasks like homework, assignment by yourself.. Thrust me..*ouch, It will give you benefits.
It's built in. When you swipe apps away it clears ram space.
And as far as how long your battery is going to last, no one is going to be able to answer that. You'll find out when its at 1%

Task manager is only on Samsung based ROMs, not in AOSP/AOKP. Android has its own task manager that manages perfectly and automatically. You don't need any.
Using other task managers isn't good, since it sometimes clashes with Android's built-in one.

Thats the main function of the long press home button, install another Launcher and configure it to do that.
The Task Manager sometimes is not installed on customs ROM's; install it manually or change the ROM

Just press and hold down home button , then swipe away the app you want to close. Or instead of swipe use trash can. But you have to hold down home button to get to the scree for either way.
Please see this thread.......

I helped to provide an answer to a very similar question there. I also provided links to resources to help.....

Hey guys, maybe a stupid question.. but how tp stop the apps?
I know we can go to settings and stop them there, but is there a quicker way? sometimes when we go to the multitasking section, we have many apps open and games.. I think that if we close them, we will save a bit of battery.. iv seen that in ice cream sandwich. We just need to slide them to the right (in the multitasking sec.) but in honeycomb still didnt find anything like that..
Any ideas?

Works fine for me with Android Assistant or ZDBox. Just place the quickboost/kill all widget on ur homescreen and press it when needed. Will close all unused apps. U'll still see them in the multitasking section, but thats mearly a dead shortcut...if u klick one they'll start up new.
In addition Android Assistant has a configurable widget. With it u can jump directly to the process screen and select the ones u wanna close.
Hope this helps.

What exactly you're looking for?
If you look for multitasking it's just a long press on central Home button

This is not really necessary or recommended with Gingerbread onwards. Android is much better at suspending the threads.
But if you really want to kill it, just download any free task killer.
By the way, the Xperia S has a TON of RAM. I'm not sure why you think you're running into memory issues.

There are a number of pieces of research that show that killing tasks manually actually has a detrimental effect on device speed and battery life.
Let Android manage this itself.
This is intresting to know because I had task killer on my sgs2 and i always used to kill apps manually.

That and dependency issues. (think cardhouse) ;-)
Middle Key
Press the middle key and that will take you to the task manager.
Hi,
I may be being really dense, but I can't find an option to remove/change the toggles in the notification area... I use some (like wifi, bluetooth, brightness), but have no need for ones like power saving, sync etc.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
Thanks!

I'm assuming you are on stock rom, if so you cant. Custom roms like Omega have 15 toggle mod you can add or remove whatever you like.

Thanks for the answer
Yes I am currently on stock ROM - I used CM9 nightlies for ages on my S2 but didn't like them as much as the S3 stock. Maybe I'll try Omega (have recently installed the kitchen part of it anyway)
Would you say Megga is better than CM in your opinion?
It's impossible to say if a rom is better or not. I've been using AOKP roms on my galaxy S II but I can now say I like original Samsung roms more on the S III, I even use touchwiz which would've been unthinkable on the S II. I'm on Omega Rom. It's basically stock but with upgrades. Been using other roms for a few hours too because Im a flashaholic but keep Nandroid-ing back to Omega. First time Samsung did a great job on interface IMO
Well that sounds good, I'll give it a go later, thanks
Out of interest, does Omega have the ability to cancel an app by long-press of the back key? That's something I miss from CM9...
Fyi, here's how to change/remove the toggles...

No, it doesn't but as you probably know, long press home and press Task Manager let's you kill tasks.
I liked the idea of long press back key, but was never happy with the execution - I was constantly killing apps that I didn't want to by tapping back too quickly. Clearly CM wasn't checking that you were holding back, but rather that it was pressed at the start and end of a certain time period.

Thanks for the reply... I actually used it a lot with CM9 and found it very useful, but not the end of the world to not have it!
So just started running paranoid android, and I really like it, but I'm used to a few settings I used to have when I ran Liquid Smooth, and was wondering whether it was possible to get them for Paranoid Rom for S3, for 3.99
They are:
1. Can I add a brightness bar to the top of the screen? in the Task manager area bit?
2. Can I add a settings button in the top of the screen, in the Task manager area bit?
3. Is it possible to get menu long press for kill app?
4. Is it possible to get shortcut stuff to wifi and things like that on the task manager bit? I think its called a power widget?
5. is it possible to turn on the thing where I can swype left and right on the bottom of the task manager bit to go in between the two take manager windows.
I apologise if these are pretty mundane questions, I've tried racking through the settings area many times, but I don't know if its just not possible, or if I'm completely missing the setting, or if its just some place that I didn't think of.
Cheers

Now I have more then 10 though, so I think I can if its the page I'm thinking of

I'm using Oppo F1s running on ColorOS (android 5) with 3GB RAM. The ColorOS is very different from the others, although I allow my app (iWown Fit to control iWown Smartband) to notificate, but it always be closed from running background.
So I ask if there is anyway to keep the app running background (just 1 app that I need, not at all)

Sorry for my bad English, hope you can understand and help me. Thx :crying:

Go to settings then go to security settings and select data saving feature and enable it. It shows all installed apps. Allow apps that you want to run in background.
If it helped. Please thank me[emoji3]

Go to recent tabs and see unlock icon [emoji356] on the left corner of the app tab and lock app that you want run in the background. You can do it by sliding down tab of the app.
