Not sure, where to put this, so i just leave this a general info, that JellyBean is being worked on by HTC maybe even for our device.
this is coming from a HTC developers code details. By accident i stubled upon some source to honeycomb 3.2.2 and it was published by a HTC developer.
but looking at his googlecode you can find some wierd stuff and pictures also. (totally not XDA, but fun)
check this googlecode out.
you even see snaps of a flyer source build in progress if you look carefully.
i wondered about writing him at his @HTC.com email, but hell, im not the one publishing code on the internet
I'm not a developer, so seeing those files Dexter can you conclude how much work is done? Or is being done?
Amazing find though, keep up the great work!

i honestly cannot see, since he actually got his hands on a environment with many builds.
It seems somehow he is a developer of the media part of the htc phones, so somehow he got the full access, but of course only work on a very specific part of the new builds. but sure, its JB builds he got working there, he even names some of his code, JB. or maybe he just like bieber LOL
anyways a little fun, and we get HTC's you rock snaps included from their year end party as well.
Well I hope we do get official Jelly Bean
Or you could just send them your ROM to fix
This would be amazing. So long without any updates, even no ICS, and BAM - skip right up to 4.1 jelly bean?
A dream that should come true.

too stupid to have htc code and other things laying around like that.
super bummed.... i know i was grasping at straws but damn if i didn't feel even the tiniest bit of hope pop up inside me when reading this the other day....
i didn't want to get too excited. but after reading your reply i can tell i must have already fallen for the excitement, as i'm supper bummed out now
why would they work on ICS/JB for the flyer and not even give us any clue about it?
I read the post on Facebook and I really don't know what to think about it, what is wrong with them.
Why don't they tell us about it, just to be able in any case to cancel it.
We paid good money for the flyer and it is not even two years old.
Their Honeycomb Upgrade was/is terrible so we really deserve that. At the beginning (May 2011) this Tab was sold for $1794.99 by Amazon.com!
Now they removed even the introductory price information of Wikipedia, luckily there is a picture of it before they did it.

Actually this info isn't in Wikipedia anymore, check it out here-> (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTC_Flyer)
Really hope they surprise us with Jelly Bean (unbelievable that now this even feels like a "dreaming" although at the beginning I thought that an upgrade for the flyer would be so obvious)

Another thing, I figured out how reproduce a "HTC bug report" on the official HC. I mean I can randomly (like a loop) generate this bug so that a bug report is send to HTC.
Do you thing if i can organize a "Flashmob bug report" this would disturb HTC or at least they would notice us? :fingers-crossed:

dont use wiki as a source ever. About the bug reporting, sound s good. But, like you said” randomly” so how can so many users do this report if the cause is random.
I meant I can do it in purpose. Every time like a loop, with 2 klicks.
My English is not that good, I thought randomly means something like a loop.
It has to do with an "app plugin update" in the "HTC hub/likes"

I don't think HTC believes our tablets are worth saving even though we know how much we love our tabs. JB would be awesome because unlike most, I love sense and if we got a JB with sense, I'd flip but again I don't expect it.
I never felt such disappointment for a device before, this particular case with the flyer is really an epic fail. Maybe the biggest fail in the whole android update history. $699 and not even a year in support... just one crappie HC upgrade.

actully LG optimus 4X is doing alot worse when it comes to support and whatever that follows. even the section is near "legacy devices" state.
It's a small comfort but thanks. It's neck and neck.
The only thing that keeps me on the flyer is the s-pen and the 7 inches. But now I heard YouTube that Samsung brought out a pen that works on all capacities displays. And it is also useable as a bluetooth headset. Just the price I heard wasn't nice, 80€. And the pressure sense Is surely missing.
But if that's true from now on I would focus in nexus devices only.
I care about the specs a lot but after this case I actually care more about the support. Till now even the prices of nexus devices are a lot nicer then other ones.

+1 pen and seven inch form factor has me sticking with flyer. Do you have any more info on the Samsung pen? I might be interested in that.
Edit: nvm found it. Looking into it now
What a surprise - no further tablets from HTC
http://androidcommunity.com/htc-drops-out-of-us-tablet-market-for-now-20121010/
Edit: well I guess they just won't sell tablets in USA (why what did we do to them?) but what does that mean for the rest of the world? And if they do produce a tablet I wonder if it would be competitively priced and supported by them for more than 6 months.
I will look for more info and hope that pen exist.
I was just playing with the Note 10.1 (just checking out the handwriting capabilities) . I must say i I like it a lot. Writing on it felt smooth and it consistently correctly converted my horrible chicken scratch of a handwriting. The predictive text worked pretty well also. But it's not the seven inch form factor that I prefer and it is lacking the quality feel of my beloved flyer.

There is the link.
Just thought any defectors would like the heads up. I personally am sticking with my 3Devo.
From the screenshots it looks to be the same phone. No concrete answer on if it's packing a Snapdragon which had been rumored or if it's sticking with Exynos. *Shrug* guess we shall find out.
Awesome, can't wait. Jk Samsung sucks.

Damn Sprint is on a roll. Hopefully they get the Nexus Prime when it comes out. That's the only phone I'm interested in. The GS2 should of came out earlier. Samsung waited to long in my opinion, But nevertheless Sprint has a good line up this year.

Yeah, the only reason I can see why they waited was because of the pressure from Apple and it's "your phone looks like mah phone!" 6-year old meltdown of a lawsuit that has been going on. I dunno.

I was going to go the SGS2 route but it's just too little too late. The E3D in modded form can outpace a stock SGS2 easily...and the nPrime is right around the corner.
I used to love HTC and I've really grown to like the E3D General forum, y'all is cool peoples (most of the time)...but aside from the unlock fiasco I can't stand the ****ty radio and the strange behavior when powering on/off really makes me feel like one day it won't turn back on again....especially when I've seen it happen right in front of me.
...but I sure as hell will not post a thread here about it. Nothin' personal OP, just sayin'...

Well, I know a lot of people aren't happy with the Evo 3D, I decided to drop this nugget and see how it went. Like I said, I'm happy with my evo. My Radios don't suck too bad, only thing I have issue with is a Black SOD every 9hrs when using a custom kernel... which I can workaround with a stock kernel.
You're post is a little confusing. so... you're waiting for the nPrime?. that's how it sounded. That's looking to be an October release, it's being made by Samsung too. Which I find odd, I would think Motorola would be involved. I know it was just recently announced that Google was going to buy them, but...I assumed it was in the making to be some big lead up. oh well, probably next year.
I'd think I'd like it more if it didn't look like the iPhone had a retarded son.

Thank god I don't get the Black SOD...
Yeah, I'm waiting for the nPrime. It's being made by Samsung which, while at first really put me off but I did sport an NS4G for a few weeks last month. Aside from feeling cheap and too light--which most people wouldn't see as a down side--it was actually a fantastic phone. Great battery life, phenomenal camera and an unmatched Android experience. It did have the traditionally weak Samsung radio, but, it seems that you can't escape that anymore.
...and so far as Motorola is concerned Google has assured it's partners that the bidding process for the Nexus line would in fact remain the same. Google is saying all but "listen, we bought MMi for the patents. The Set-top-box and mobile manufacturing is just a plus, that we don't intend to use." Of course time will tell how true that is. For the time being I believe them.
However a Motorola built Nexus would probably be fantastic as long as they ditch that ****ty Pentile screen technology. I bet they would have class leading radios and battery life too.

Yea MOTO isn't far from being a great phone manufacturer..they do have pretty good build quality and their radios are bar none..they have been in that game for a while..ditch all MOTO blur or map and the pentile..add some Google magic and we could have a winner in a few months.

Agreed. Their designs are a bit stodgy looking, but their hardware (aside from those horrible screens and penchant for keyboards) is rock solid. They nearly invented cellular mobile phone technology. They have been doing mobile communications for as long as there has been a commercial mobile communications market. Their radios are fantastic. Build quality is always awesome. How many OG Droids do you still see around? Tons...and I have seen a lot that are beaten to death physically but still kicking ass, 2nd hand, 3rd hand...that says quite a bit.
Without knowing anything about the contents of their patent portfolio I am confident that it contains thousands of very relevant patents. I can't wait to see Google's next move.
I came from the Epic 4G to the Evo 3D. The main thing about Samsung was there slowwwwww release of updates. The Epic 4G rolled out with Eclair, took a while to get Froyo and is still awaiting Gingerbread. This really seem slow down ROM and kernel development. HTC seems pretty spot on with their OS updates.
I am waiting to see if Samsung support for their phones has improved. If it has, maybe I would consider going back. Until then, my Evo 3D is the shizzle.

There seems to have been alot of confusion on the Prime's status in the market. I for one can state that Best Buy has NOT fully removed it from their system, and it can still be ordered and exchanges can be made!

This was done two days ago, and ask you can tell, the CS rep was able to locate it in their system, to send me a new one. I really love this product, and I will post this in the positive Prime thread as well.
Also, of course new models will come out. I personally would take a 201 of the 700. Why? The design is amazing. I don't use GPS unless I am on a internet connection, and I never have before. (Besides, I don't know if its just me, but Maps won't even open for me if I don't have a internet connection. It just says please connect to use Maps, and the app closes.). The Wifi and Bluetooth issues that existed has been fixed. While GPS is lackluster, at least it was included. Just look at the 183206 views of this Apple topic about no GPS in the Wifi iPad 2. (http://bit.ly/wSuep7). People were furious! Apple did "****" to announce why it was not included. At least ASUS made a public statement, said the type of metal was not giving GPS the proper performance it needed.
I believe ASUS's plan WAS to included GPS all along, and it was NOT to be used as a MAIN feature. If you caught in the middle of no where, without internet, it was your last resort. If you had an iPad, you were SOL. So thank you ASUS for including it.
Hell, if you are gonna wait for the 700, the iPad 3 will be out by then. And when it doesn't have GPS and its lacluster, here have the iPad 3.5 with a .5 more megapixals in the camera. But then CES 2013 is only a few more months away, lets wait till then. Catchin my drift? Make use of that quad core goodness you have, and feel safe that just cause a new item comes out does not render your device useless.
While I don't call this a "rant", I do hope I explained it to the best ability I can, in my view, of this whole issue. Please post your comments below, and make them constructive. I don't come to XDA to post on what the hell you think of ASUS. This is forum is for general discussion, not taking advantage of insurance exchanges, *****ing out people that are just trying to help you, etc.
I plan to use my dock, Prime, and case for my Prime for a good two years during school.
ASUS lover, and non-fanboy,
Timothy
The Champagne was completely removed from BestBuy.com (as of a week ago). The Grey one was never removed (except for a week or two back in early December if I remember correctly).
Rumour is that there won't be an iPad 3 this year, just an iPad 2.5 with enhanced screen and processor. Don't expect a ground breaking release from Apple.

I know which panel they are using.. cough cough..
When I looked on best buy's site they didn't show any were available to order about 2 weeks ago. The CSR told me that for some reason they had plenty of stock in their warehouse but for some reason the website never showed they were available to order. Mine is coming on Tuesday according to my UPS tracking number. It is the gray version which is fine with me, I just hope it is a bug free one.
My guess is they are keeping the remaining stock as mostly replacements to the people who already have bought them. When they get the stock with the updated boxes to reflect no GPS they will start selling those in the stores.

Hmm, that would mean not as big of a resolution increase as some people seem to think. It would also mean that Asus is going to have a hard time keeping the TF700 in stock.

Rumours are of a 2048 x 1536 resolution panel. That's 50% more pixels than the Tf700. Might be out of date news though.
I work for Best Buy and in our internal inventory system, they took alot of stuff related to the Prime out of the system, like the Grey 32GB. It makes for a bad experience when someone asks me where to get one and I have the SKU and I know where to find it in the backend of the system too and it's INTENTIONALLY removed. Now I can't even look at what other stores in the district might have it. Awesome.

I meant more that Apple seems to be in bed with suppliers and if ASUS is using the same display Apple has chosen then ASUS is most likely the company that is going to have a hard time getting supplied with them.

I just wish that they had a replacement for me. I asked for a replacement, I really wanted a replacement. They didn't have any and she couldn't find one for me.
If I could have had my last Prime, Minus the "Serial Number Unknown" Problem, I would have been so happy. I would have taken a replacement in a minute, they just didn't have one.
Now, the problem is, I have $140 in Gift Cards at Best Buy, all gifts from the holidays, and I basically have to buy it at Best Buy cause there is nothing else there I want to spend my money on.

do you know if best buy finally got some cases in for the prime? last time I checked they only had ipad2, Samsung galaxy 10.1, and Toshiba thrive cases. I might have to end up ordering one online if I can't find one in a store. I ended up by a Targus netbook style case but its more of a travel pouch. I need a case to slip this into that I can leave it on it. I still find myself being extra careful as not to drop it. Any case I get would being able to go onto the prime and also fit inside the Targus netbook style case/pouch.

Sorry for making this thread look coded. I was trying to goad a knucklehead on another forum who was talking trash out of the sides of his mouth about the TFP and Android tablets as a whole. He was saying they are a dead market. I'm like really come here and say that.
Needless to say he backed down.
but you can guest read it here: http://systemwars.com/forums/index.php?/topic/88817-asus-transformer-prime-is-garbage/
The knucklehead's name is Adrian and the other knucklehead is Cooke who's a Blackberry fanboy.

At least Android is relevant, if you encounter a RIM fanboy who wants to mouth off about Android, just bring up the Playbook.
Adroid tablets are dead, they sell like utter **** and there's nothing that might change it in the future. They're doing so bad that simply put it's impossible to do any worse.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, maybe "Adrian" should put down the crack pipe. RIM fanboys bloviate just like RIM does, the average size of the RIM fanboy's mouth is about as large as the disproportionate gap between the specs in the Playbook and its massive launch price.

Thanks given. I was just about to lol
Here's some facts:
- As of October, there were just 3.4MM HC tablets that accessed the Google market. To me, non-market tablets like the KF and NookC don't count as "Android tablets." That's what Apple sells in a day.
- In the U.S., high-end ($399+) Android tablets make up 15% of total non-Apple tablet sales and 1/3 of those have 3/4G and are sold through carriers.
- Pre-KF, Samsung had 16% of the U.S. market, Asus 10%, and Acer 9%.
- Manufacturers quote sales in "shipped units." Half the shipped units can be sitting on shelves or stacked up in reseller warehouses.
- Analysts are projecting that Android tablets (including the KF) will double in 2012 (6.4MM) which is still a fraction of what Apple's doing.
- People don't equate non-Apple tablets to the iPad and don't see their value at $399+. Only price has made a difference in volume sold (HP TP, BB PlayBook, KF, NookC).
Performance isn't what has kept the average customer from buying Android - no one's complained they're too slow. The issues are: complexity (compared to iOS), lack of applications, and poor marketing. Unifying all Android devices on ICS will make a big difference in the app area. When apps are more polished, available in larger quantities, and more consistent the average consumer will warm to Android. Same with the UI. But it'll take a year for the majority of devices to be on ICS. Part of Apple's success and profitibility in the tablet market comes not just from the sale of iPads but what they make selling apps, music, videos, etc. That's the content strategy that Amazon's following with the KF. Analysts feel that stand-alone tablet makers are going to be pressured and some will leave the market because, without content to subsidize profits, there's not enough money in making tablets alone. So there you have it...
P.S. - None of this applies to XDA'ers because we are no where near the average consumer in the way we view electronics.

Gotta love reviews and the fact that they really are just opinions of the person reviewing it. It's an interesting read nonetheless. Couple of things I take out of it;
1. Just like everyone else including most of us, we all liked the look of the One X and he really hates that Sprint and HTC deviated from that. Especially the top plastic cover. Personally spends too much time complaining about the design decisions.
2. He also really likes stock Android and hates Sense. Again shares some of the common complaints such as the recent apps menu being different than stock and the software menu button. Also interestingly complains about bloatware but realistically there is only one app that should be considered bloatware and thats Sprint Zone. Every other app he mentions comes stock on every other HTC phone. And lets face it every carrier uses their own visual voicemail and hotspot apps, the latter being to have control over tethering. Also call me crazy but he complains about Sense not being landscape but I have landscape Sense running a 4.0 rom and I'm pretty sure that was one of the added features to 4.0.
Either way everything is subjective and it makes for an interesting read as long as you objectively respect he is entitled to his opinion and it is in fact that his opinion. For me it flirts close to the line of knitpicking each and everything that goes against what the reviewer prefers and is accustomed to.

Thanks man added the link to the op. Which would spark a very noob question. What does OP stand for?
Most the reviews I seen thought sense was either ok or just terrible. Phil from androidcentral seem to be one of the few that actually liked it over stock android. Me personally I haven't use sense 4 yet but I'm impatiently waiting.
I'll try to keep the OP is up to date as I can which shouldn't be hard considering I'm graduating High School Friday. So I have nothing but time until August.

OP stands for Original Post(er).
Yeah most reviewers dislike Sense compared to Stock however even the most anti Sense reviewers have stated that Sense 4 is a lot better than previous iterations and end up enjoying it even if they aren't crazy about it. I know we all have our personal preferences but facts are the only true Stock phone is a Nexus phone. Every manufacturer puts a skin on their phone. It's just something people will need to accept. So depending on which skin you like the most you should choose your phone accordingly. If you like stock buy a Nexus. It's easy for these reviewers to complain though cause they get these phones handed to them rather than going out and buying them in most cases.

A review that actually doesn't hold the EVO 4G LTE at fault for the shortcomings of the Sprint network.
The HTC Evo 4G LTE is undoubtedly the best-spec'd smartphone currently on offer in the United States. The flagship handset offers all the latest smartphone tech in a neat, well-built package.
There has rarely been an easier smartphone to recommend in the United States. HTC and Sprint have created a package that's incredibly hard to resist, and the purchase of which you are extremely unlikely to regret. We actually feel sorry that HTC didn't choose this design for the internationally available One XL, instead of the AT&T version.

It was a nice detailed review.
That is the biggest knock on the evo in the reviews that it didn't have a 4g network.
You can't fault the HTC for that. Now customs need to stop bullshiting and let it be release.

I'm bothered by the comments under the sound section. Sure I use the phone for data, but i use it just as much for calls (using the ear piece). Will have to wait for some demo phones at stores before truly committing to the purchase.

Thanks bro added to the op
Most reviewers have said the sound was good enough for calls. Nothing spectacular but good nonetheless
I played with a GN at a sprint store the other day. Thought the volume was very loud and clear on a call to 611. Phonescoop's review of that phone also finds the sound quality lacking. I will definitely have to test the thing out before trading in my old evo. I expect the sound quality to be at least as loud/clear (running cm7 with the audio boosted kernel).

Some of the reviewers that bash Sprint seem to be biased against Sprint. The phone should be evaluated not the network that it arrives on. Yes, a note should be made about network performance, but if the phone is a 10 dock .5-1.0 for that issue instead of going off in tangents about it just list it as a con!
IMHO the nay sayer's for Sprint will be jumping ship to come aboard when NV starts to launch on Sprint by months end.
It's amazing how these professional reviewers try so hard to find fault with android phones, yet fall over themselves praising the iPhone.
This is the phone they should have released globally.
Pocketnow and Techradar review is up.

I find this to be an extremely accurate statement.
When I see a review for a phone all I care about is the phone, not the network the phone is on. I'm aware of the networks of each carrier and I am aware of the pros/cons of each.
For what it's worth I spend a majority of the time on Wi-Fi networks and get great network reliability.
Seeing the development forum and the original I come to the conclusion that its to difficult or this device is not popular with devs. I coming from Samsung s4 and there the custom roms are many and updated each month.

yeah the forum for z ultra is the most boring one ever, as its not 1% active as the samsung devices forums.
I respect all devs who try their best here, maybe there is not room for improvement on it that devs can add on
i miss the amazing themes i used to see on samsung devices while here we don't have themes we have wallpapers and such. At samsung i used to have themes that give me a feeling i own a new device whenever i change themes
devs at samsung forums are really very very engaged in dev and modding and everyday there is something new.
Flashing mods and roms was piece of cake at samsung while here we have to look at unlocking our boot loader which sucks, also I don't see any modded kernels and the huge dev as in samsung forums
I miss samsung if only i could sell the z ultra without losing money i would go back in a second to a samsung device
No offense dude, but stow it. Every single post you make, you're complaining about something, and it's invariably your fault for being disappointed. If you want themes, go check the Themes and Apps forum, there are plenty of different designs there. Or, just get the Themer app that's come out recently for one-touch theming.
Furthermore, complaining about unlocked your bootloader is ridiculous. It takes literally, all of 30 seconds once you get the email with your unlock code in it. Just do it, and quit whining. Or don't. Just quit whining, because the ability is there. We've got a very good Paranoid Android ROM, we've got 4.3 Carbon (which I have used a lot on my Nexus 4; it's good), we've got CyanogenMod 10.2, we've got PAC-Man ROM, we've even got a rapidly-improving AOSP 4.4 ROM. What more do you want? I guess if you don't like AOSP it sucks, but even then, we have two stock 4.2.2 ROMs if you just can't deal with vanilla Android for some reason.
Bottom line: there's not as much development for the XZU as for a company that has sold more than 100 MILLION DEVICES. Are you surprised? If so, it's your fault. Seriously, if you dropped $700 on this phone without knowing a single thing about it, I really have to question your general life skills.
Does this answer your question? The solution is not to buy yet another Samsung device. The solution is to support a different OEM, so Samsung doesn't rape the market even more.

Yeah that's right, just ignore everything I said. It makes you look real good.
Please continue indiscriminately buying phones without knowing anything about them, but don't blame other people for your stupid mistakes.

You're exactly 3 seconds away from being reported. Why don't you just give the Ultra back to your dad and ask him if you can get the Note 3 for christmas or something? Or even better, get a job as a paperboy and save up some money

yeah the forum for z ultra is the most boring one ever, as its not 1% active as the samsung devices forums.

Theme? Don't know why but imho, Sony UI doesn't need any other theme. I bet you i never got bored whenever Sony's UI is on. On the other hand, Android stock theme will get boring over time. So the ability to choose theme is a must for them. Samsung TouchWiz? Yuck, no wonder you need to change the theme If you insist, there's always an aftermarket launcher so no excuse to say the theme selection is too limited.
Every exploit comes with a root so if Samsung phones are easier to root, CMIIW but it is prone to be attacked by hacker. So that's two sides of coin actually.. When you're able to get root, you can question the security of the device. So it is a great progression and care by Sony to patch the software even though you have to compromise for no root. But you do insist to have root don't you? well unlocking bootloader is the way then.
Just checked his previous threads and the conclusion is that he's that guy. You know, the whiner. He even whined in the Note 2, and S3 section. He's just an intolerant, sad and bored individual.
