Hi, I am new to Samsung I previously had HTC's but I got a Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 and tried unlocking it with galaxys_unlock tool from Android market and it worked, unlocked the phone I tried a new sim card but then it started crashing very shortly after unlocking and now it is just stuck on Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100 boot screen and keeps rebooting from there. I tried reflashing stock firmware on it and still same result. Is there any way to rescue it. I have tried all the bootloop threads but they all seem to be related to kernel problems and software problems I tried all the fixes but they don't work. Is my phone hardbricked or something? I can get into download mode and am able to flash new roms with odin but can not get into recovery mode at all. When i press the buttons to get into recovery mode the device just shuts down and reboots. Please say I can fix it. Thanks guys.
You shouldnt need to reflash.. being stuck there is sometimes normal as it normaly means you didnt wipe any cache or do a factory reset so it gets stuck at boot...
Flash the phone with the ROM you wanted.. & then root if you wish...when it boots & gets stuck... do this...
remove battery, wait 30 seconds or so & pop it back in...
Boot to recovery & wipe cache, then factory reset.. then advanced & wipe dalvik cache
reboot phone...skip all the startup **** & go into phone & do a factory reset from there once rebooted your phone will be up & running..... I hope...
also this will wipe everything as if a clean install....

I cant get to recovery though
You may not have recovery, if u flash a stick ROM/kernel that doesn't have CWM then of course your not gonna be able to enter it

I know stock kernels don't have recovery, but I have already tried flashing CWM and Sirah both of which have recovery and it passes with odin and still doesn't work!
Stock kernels have stock recovery

I think you missed the question mark. Stock kernels most certainly do have recovery.
Anyway, I stand by my statement, you're probably not doing the correct procedure to enter recovery.

I know how to get into recovery, hold down volume up, home and power for 10 seconds. It is like the unlock tool has bricked my partitions or something. Now my battery has died and will not even charge, Download mode says "Can't download, battery too low" and shows no signs of life when plugged into a charger.
I changed the charger and now it looks like it is charging but the charging animation that shows when the phone is off and charging doesn't do anything, it just has a battery symbol with a static circle in the middle, not sure if it is actually charging or not but still doesn't fix the fact i can't get into recovery or even boot a stock rom flashed by odin.
Could the unlock tool have bricked my phone or could it have wiped the IMEI? Would a blank IMEI stop the phone from booting?
Thanks for your help guys. Really need my S2 working again and hoping it is not a return to samsung jobby as I have not got a USB Jig to reset the flash counter.
Did you backup your efs folder before running the unlock tool?

yes I am going to leave it on charge for a few hours but when it was working it wouldn't boot at all, there is no way a missing imei or corrupted nvdata.bin / efs could stop the phone from booting then?
OK it has been on charge for an hour and a half and all it has done is get hot, I cant access download mode any more as it says "LOW BATTERY!! CAN'T DOWNLOAD!!" So I am stuck, dont know what to do now. If i send it back to samsung do they ask for proof of purchase or is the fact I have the box and everything proof enough? Just asking as I had that with HTC ages ago.

If someone is actually knowledgeable enough to help me fix this I will pay them £20GBP by PayPal on 17th August when I get paid.
My wifes going to send her phone back to Samsung soon and they asked for proof of purchase.
Were ok there, but I suppose other people may not have that.It looks like they are trying to get out of fixing their phones.
All they should be doing is checking the phones not lost/stolen then get on with the repair ........tossers

May I ask what is your S2 version? Are you sure it is an International version?
I would suggest to re-download a different ROM and flash it using ODIN 1.85.
About the warranty, I think the receipt is really needed to avail this. Unless you're willing to spend some cash for the repair.

Hey guys.
I made a stupid error last night when I tried going from ICS CM9 back to ICS STOCK LPQ.
I forgot to wipe data and just wiped cache and dalvik cache.
The connection broke whilst flashing through ODIN and now I have a blank black screen and the phone won't turn on...((( (It does technically as when I try pressing the on button later on the phone would get hot - meaning its on but BLACK SCREEN)
I have tried taking the battery out for hours and putting it back in...nothing is working.
I don't know what to do...I'm in uni where I have fast wifi. Please help. Any advice would be grateful
EDIT:
Ok.
So usb jig arrived this morning. Ripped it open. Popped my sgsII from charger (fully charged I think!) took battery out - 15 secs
placed battery back in.
Inserted USBJIG. . .
. . .
. . . . BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH
Nothing....Still the same. No screen activity...sad...
only way is either JTAG or Samsung service center right?
I used to have yellow exclamation mark + 4 counts....but they can't see anything so they won't know right?
or did the usbJig work but just the fact that I can't see anything on the screen??
...sad I hated seeing noobs flashing phones improperly and crying when it got softbricked....well even though mine is a straight hardbrick i still feel sad....noob
update.
I've taken it to SSCentre on tuesday. I called them yesterday and they said they couldn't fix it over there and had it shipped somewhere else...is that bad?
it could take upto 2 weeks!!!!!!
I rememeber the engineers working on my friends Galaxy S last year and they didn't have to send it to somewhere else. (he had the soft brick 3 yellow logo icons) and didn't have the version where the download/recovery mode didn't work) The engineer just flashed it with latest stock sgs firmware (ignoring that csc was orange lol)
Maybe my flash was so impeccable I fried the motherboard? I'm one kick ass bricker....

If you can get into download mode then there is still hope. If you can't then your only option is either warranty repair of Jtag service. If download mode then works then just reflash using Odin.
You flash i9000XXJVU to your i9100 phone? So you need JTAG or do service. Your bootloader is totally dead

To OP: Yup nothing to do, but send it in for repairs.
yeah sorry not JVU LPQ (I was getting mixed up with firmwares)
Yeah phone not going into download or recovery mode.
I think when I press the power button the phone does turn on but I get nothing but black screen....(the phone warms up)
So shall I order a JTAG to flash? or take it to repair centre?
Will they know I've been flashing this thing to death? Counter is on 4 at the moment..... so worried!

JTag is not Samsung warranty its a paid for service .

.
Warranty is void with custom rom root or rom counter above zero .
Will they know yes counter is on 4 .
Will they ignore it and put it through as warranty they may but dont count on it .
USB jig would be the starting point .
That fails you could go to warranty repair if thats rejected then pay for JTag repair .

if you have adb maybe you could try:
1. Connecting your device to PC while turned off,
2. CMD > adb devices
* If you see your device connected, proceed with:
adb reboot recovery or adb reboot bootloader
* If you don't see any device connected, try googling for qhsusb_dload driver for your device, and after you install them (and maybe a couple of PC restarts) repeat step 2
3. if you manage to get to recovery, i hope you have your nandroid backup so you could restore them.
my HTC sensation 4G had this situation few days ago, couldn't go to recovery/bootloader, blanked out when turned on and had fever
i fixed it using those steps, i wish i could remember where i got the qhsusb driver thingy from.. i'll let you know when i remember.
edit: it might work on S2, or might not.. i don't know this will help or not, but you could read adb/fastboot/bootloader/android 101, maybe you could get something from there

The bootloader death thing is not 100% true. When I first got my phone, (when there wasn't any rom for it) I tried flashing a I9000 rom. I was so stupid and luckily it didn't break my phone. After the flashing it turned on and stayed on bootlogo.
It was a miracle for me!

Hi all,
so i just start and describe my problem. My Friend asked me to root his phone and flash RR 2.7. So far i did this with 5 phones be4 (s2 and s3)
He had ICS (4.04) with the buildnumber XXLQ6, so i took for rooting purposes this one CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_LQ5-v5.6-CWM5, because i couldn't find LQ6.
Ofc i did it with odin and everything went according to plan. After the restart phone was rooted and i had access to CWM.
I rebooted into Recovery Mode and Wiped everything icluding battery stats and dalvik. Then i selected the RR 2.7 zip and the Installation went smoothly. After that i wiped everything again before rebooting and also did the "fix permissions" thing in the adv settings.
Reboot and Phone stayed off no recovery or download mode.
I guess it is bricked and i wonder did i something wrong? Phone getting back to repair i hope warranty will cover it.
Thanks for Replies
Have you tried charging it? Perhaps the batter was too low and the flashing took all the juice. Happened to me once on a Droid3
no i dont think so I tried though. the phone had the original bigger battery and had 65% before flashing. no I am afraid ti flash ever again...
I quess you can try a USB jig to get into download mode, maybe the 3 button combo is out of order.

Hi Everyone,
This is my story:
I woke up today to my phone being off. Thinking it was battery, I got my spare and replaced it. Turned on the phone and saw the:
"Samsung
Galaxy S III
GT-I9300"
This logo kept on appearing, then disappearing; appearing then disappearing. It is still doing that and I can not get past it. I have tried clearing Dalvik Cache (yes I can access recovery mode). I have tried using Odin to flash stock firmware to it (it showed a "PASS"), and still nothing works. I am at the end of my wits with this phone. Based on what I know, my options are:
1) Wipe/Reset Factory data
2) Take it to a repair shop bcz of a hardware malfunction (no warranty)
3) Throw it in the bin
Any other options that might get me into the phone to get my information?
Just so you guys know, this phone was rooted a couple months back. The only reason I rooted it was to use Titanium Backup. Needless to say, I wasn't messing around with it when this happened. Please advise!
Use Google or search on XDA next time!

So this morning and last night my phone was working perfectly until it decided to reboot, but since then it endlessly reboots show the the "Galaxy SIII GTI9300" screen. It comes up, goes black, then it shows it again. Ive looked around for other fixes but i can't enter my recovery or download mode. When entering into recover, it works for about 1 second then the phone reboots so I am unable to do anything, I can enter download for a few seconds but pressing the volume up or down to continue doesn't do anything.
I am using foxhound 2.4 and Siyah 1.9.1
I don't have an overclock, I've tested another battery so I know that isn't the issue.
I haven't done anything to it so I can't think of a reason it would be doing this. How can I fix it?
looks like sds
Any fix for it? I can't access recovery or download mode and my PC doesn't pick up my phone, should I take it in for repairs? Will they repair it with the custom ROM and kernel?
send it in, looks like it's the only option
From what I've read about SDS, I am by no means an expert, you wouldn't even be able to interact with your phone. The fact that you see the boot logo means that it isn't SDS. I am not sure what I'd do though, as you cannot enter download mode and flash a stock ROM from there.
If you send it in to service, I guess they will find out about the flash counter and modified status and all, and you would have to pay. On the other hand, if that is what it needs it might be worth it.
Sorry I'm not more helpful...

So I sent my phone in for repairs and somehow they managed to fix it and get it back to stock. Before I gave it in I never had a red exclamation. As soon as I rooted it when I got it back it now has the red exclamation. Today my phone entered a bootloop doing the exact same thing but eventually worked. Not sure if it was the ROM. I'm considering flashing back to stock just to be safe. Doesn't seem like I can get rid of that exclamation without doing so. They sorted it out for free. I'm just worried they will say my warranty has been void next time

What about the battery?
When I put it on, my s3 turns on itself...did the same thing happen to u?
Hey guys,
I have a galaxy s3 (I9300) and I've had it rooted for some time now. I started using CyanogenMod 10.2 nightlies a few months ago and they've mostly been fine. The odd issue comes up but I've been able to work it out. So, a few hours ago my phone just turned off of its own accord and started to bootloop, but on the "Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-19300" screen, not the CyanogenMod screen (to clarify, this screen comes up first then the cyanogenmod one usually). I've tried booting into recovery (CWM 6) but it just shows the CWM boot logo thing (that cog with the hat) and then loops back to the galaxy s3 page. I've also tried putting it in download mode, and it seems to stay on the warning page longer than it does anywhere else, but it wont let me actually put in it download mode from there.
I had a look around google and saw people have had the same problem, but everything I could find was when people had flashed a new rom/kernel etc. and something had gone wrong in the process. The weird thing about mine is that I haven't changed anything, even downloaded any new apps, for maybe a week, so it's not like something suddenly changed. I also wasn't using it when it started, it was just sitting on the table next to me.
Usually I can work these things out, but I'm stumped here. Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Hey guys,
I have a galaxy s3 (I9300) and I've had it rooted for some time now. I started using CyanogenMod 10.2 nightlies a few months ago and they've mostly been fine. The odd issue comes up but I've been able to work it out. Nope, if I press the volume up button to go into it, it just goes back to the bootloop. I'll try the battery thing though, thanks!
Nope, it didnt work, I left it out for maybe half an hour and nothings changed :/ anyone else got any ideas?
SDS thread and BootLoop identical questions posted .
What does Product Code say in download mode .
But if you cannot get to download mode then you need a service centre repair .
looks like u are facing SDA but a bit diffrend than a normal SDS.. mine still can go into download mode with blank product name..
If product name is blank in download mode then you got sudden death, consider a phone as a brick. Nothing will help, including repartitioning.
You need to contact service centre.
I'll check it in a minute, but if it is bricked, will any service center actually help me seeing as it's rooted and all?

AFAIK if it's sudden death then it's not possible to detect root and other modified things, or in other words - nobody has money to prove that you have been using unofficial firmware .

Ahhhh, well that is handy then
In terms of a service centre, will samsung have a list of them somewhere so I can find one near me?
So I contacted samsung and they gave me the link to book into a service centre etc, but I just realised that when I try to go into recovery mode, the CWM recovery logo comes up before going back to bootloop. Is there any way to get rid of that so that my root is completely untraceable?

If you can't flash anything with Odin (stock software) then you're screwed. Eventually you can try to enter recovery and flash "eraser" of recovery, but this requires working recovery... So if you actually can enter recovery then you can also flash anything, which will literally delete everything.
In other case, no, no way. But if you're lucky enough you may break it just by leaving your phone on for some hours in bootloop, haha.

Is there any way to wipe it with magnets or anything? hahah I'm clutching at straws now, but otherwise I'm just left with an expensive paperweight so I'm trying to find anything I can

To be honest think twice before physically crashing your internal memory, as it may void your warranty at all.
I'd try flashing stock firmware through odin, if it doesn't work I'd try flashing anything through recovery. If both of these methods fail just leave your phone in bootloop and hope that it'll automatically destroy everything...
Seriously though, you can either physically destroy internal memory or leave it in bootloop and hope for the best, eventually send them device in current status. Up to you, because you won't have a possibility to do anything else.

If I send it back to them as it is now it'll take them about 20 seconds I reckon before they see the CWM logo, realise its rooted and send it straight back, so I dont know what I'm gonna do hahah
