[Q]Looking to unroot!!!! - Motorola Droid RAZR

I'm looking to unroot a AT&T Razor and I was looking to find the files to it or a easy way to do it. This is for a friend I do not have a Razor. I have a Tbolt and a Samsung S3 and have rooted both of them. I only found one unroot method and it was just for his root method and I'm not sure who/how he rooted his phone. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Download Supersu
Update the binary
Go into /system/app and delete Superuser.apk
Go to the very right in Super super abs select Permanent Unroot
You're unrooted

Run SuperSU and just press Full Unroot. It'll renove all the root stuff.
If you already have SuperSU installed check if it's updated in play store.
Cheers

Hi,
I did the the unroot option. Now the superSu was uninstalled. When I run the root checker app to check the root status i got the below message"
root access is not properly configured or was not granted"
Does this mean that my phone is unrooted?

Use root explore(need root permission) delete the Su file from system/bin or system/xbin folder and then delete the superuser apk and reboot

My Tbolt is rooted. But when I try to install an app its rejected because its says my phone is not rooted.
It's there an app that's I can down load and have it verify my phone if indeed rooted?
Much appreciated.

You can just download an app on the market called "root checker", but if you are not able to use root apps you might have messed up somewhere and will have to redo the process.
Did you root manually or use one of the other programs?
Hi
I did it manually....
But not sure if this unrooted problem started after I did new ruu update.
Manual rooted method.
Update. Just install root checker n it show I have no root access. Wtf...
My phone has been rooted for at least 1 month now.without any issue. Damn... Must be be the new RUU.
Thanks for your quick respond.

Pro-tip you can also just open up the terminal emulator and type in "su" and hit enter. If the doallar sign changes to a hash you have root.

there are at least two versions of the update RUU floating around. from the two that jcase posted in the the development section, one keeps root and s-off and the other returns the phone to complete stock with s-on.
maybe you flashed the wrong one?
try going into ROM MANAGER and click on Fix Permission..see if that may help

Lost root after system update

I've rooted my razr but I accidentally did a system update and now it seems I've lost my root. Superuser and bionic bootstrapper is still there. I've check using root checker my busybox is install OK but not my root. I've try rerooting using doomlords ver. 1-4 but still unable to get root back. Please Help. Mine is XT910 Asia version. Thanks for any help given.

If you can't reroot, you'll have to downgrade again and become familiar with an excellent little app called OTA Rootkeeper.

If u're on 65.1.21.XT910.AsiaRetail.en.03 there's no way to root for now. U should go back to 65.1.12.XT910.PSHAsiaRetail.en.03. I'm not try yet, but you can see here how it goes:

OTA Rootkeeper works exactly as the name implies, it 'keeps' root during OTA updates. You can't root most recent RAZR OTAs directly, you have to downgrade, root again, preserve root with OTA Rootkeeper, and upgrade back to the latest OTA.
So, yes and no.

[Q] Lost ROOT but superuser still there

Just updated to 6.12.173 Android 2.3.6, like a dumb ass and superuser is still on my phone, I have uninstalled it but it is still showing up in Applacations -> Manage Applications -> All, but no where else except in in /system/app when useing root explorer but i can't delete it as i have no ROOT access. My question is can i re-root useing Motofail if superuser is still on my phone? And second dose anyone know of a way to get superuser off of my phone? i did a factory reset and that didn't work, hell the custome boot anamation i made is still on my phone. Should i try another factory reset?
Sorry for the bold words just wanting to make my self as clear as i can.
Yes, you can reroot, and you'll have to to remove the superuser app from the system partition.

OK cool I was just nervous about using motofail since I hadn't read that a lot of people had tried it. Thanks for the quick reply!

I'm gonna try and I'll let you know how it goes. If it doesn't work we may end up having to wait for ICS to see if that will take care of the problem. I hope that's not the case thou.

Cool I'm glad you got it fixed! I know that before the next update I'm going to uninstall superuser and/or unroot before updating. On a second note do we know when ICS official release will hit the RAZR?

I got s sprint update that took my root away. I having problems rooting again.

dude be more specific
Its common for OTAs to remove root access. Sometimes root can be preserved using OTA Rootkeeper, but it would have to be installed before installing the OTA. Check in the forums for your phone to see how to root it. Its also possible the OTA patched the root exploit that you used before.

You'd better find the appropriate forum on XDA for the phone and try to revert to a pre-OTA version. How did you verify that you've lost root, have you tried a terminal emulator and SU into root to verify?
More details will probably be most helpful
I have lg marqee, got update from sprint that took away root

Safest way to root S4 MDK build running 4.2.2?

Im asking if there's any fool proof ways to root this configuration because i just bought the phone and dont wont to brick it like my s3 hard bricked. Any help or comments appreciated, thinking about just updating to 4.3 and waiting for a root method with that.
Read this. Used this guide for both my gs4's with zero issues

Don't update. You'll lose your ability to have a real custom recovery. Just stay on MDK and root. Then you can go ahead and flash a 4.3 ROM.

Should i factory reset and root before activating the phone with verizon?
I personally would just root, install custom recovery then wipe. After that pick a rom as most have ota updates disabled. Or install titanium backup pro and freeze the update apk's (I forget the file names)

Ok, is it safe to activate and root as long as i stop the OTA update?or just root and then activate? thanks for the replies by the way
Either way you do it just do not take the ota. I always root first and install custom recovery
