Hey everyone,
I am currently working on brightening up the status bar a little bit and adding some color however I cannot locate a resource I need. Does anyone know how to change the background of the status bar? See where the red arrow is point in the image:
Edit: The image is statusbar_background.9
It's in framework-res.apk > res > drawable-hdpi
And the image is called "statusbar_background.9.png". Even though it's a .9 you don't have to resign the status bar bg. But that's the only exception.
sorry, (basic question) I was going to try and do something simular to this also and I was wondering how I can resign these files and how I would install the new framework-res.apk?
I made myself a rom a while ago on my eris but I have forgotten most of the stuff on resigning apk's and making packages to flash and such.
thanks in advance,
ljbaumer

Resigning file you'd need Eclipse, or you can use Xeudoxus's xUltimate draw9patch resign tool. Send me a PM if you need more info.
Ok For the last week i have been running the beautiful theme Meizu for CM7 theme chooser. Now I have been trying to create my patch for a transparent status bar. I have been using the Patcher App From Here And Using this Tutorial From Here
Now I have the latest apktool.jar downloaded swapped it in with the One the Came with Zdune's Patch because i dont know how outdated the one that came with the patcher is.
Now the Patcher Works Fine For Decompiling the apk, It tells me to make sure i have both the Framework-res and systemui on my desktop.
So i go through all the steps correctly, I even triple double check to see if ive edited the Statusbarservice.smali correctly and ive done this numerous times. Everything runs smoothly, Even compiling and signing the SystemUI.apk but no matter what i do When i push the modded SystemUI.apk over to my phone it doesnt work. I dont know if there is something wrong with the apktool.jar or if its not signing correctly hell i dont even know if its renaming anything while recompiling.(which i have read elsewhere that it is a common issue.)
The reason im asking for help is because im a graphic designer and im pretty good at reading tutorials and debugging. So im not dumb by any means. And i want to design my own theme. And my theme will have a transparent status bar.
I have attached my unmodded systemui and framework if someone would like to help patch this for me, Or even guide through the process to show me what im doing wrong.
BUMP! Really Nobody?!!!
OK here's the deal i'm using the Meizu theme for CM 7 from Zdunex25 found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102755 but I cant for the life of me get the transparent status bar to work, i've tried applying the tweaks mentioned here http://zdune.mod2xtreme.com/android/tweaks.php
but instead of gettin the nice transparency, i get a black bar with garbled up different lookin colors for icons lol... been at it for 2 hrs, so i'm askin for some help guys mayb you will have better luck here are the framework-res and systemui.apk
that are needed. hope one of u guys out there can get it working. =)
PS if anyone doesnt mind doin one for this theme http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1189723 too lol that be even more awesome =)
Update: Progress i got the status bar transparent, workin on the pulldown menu now tho
This one worked for me, its a different one. Transparent status bar is under statusbar tweaks lol. Patcher for CM7
Tell me if it works for you The meizu one didnt work for me either but after using this one, the meizu theme looked complete for me
i was able to get the miui bar and notification working, i sued the same patcher u did, lol i searched a bit more and found it right b4 u posted.

I think it would work on GB but you would also need to change statusbar_background.png in systemui to a transparent image. I'm pretty sure the patcher only changes the smali edit and doesn't change the png.

Yup u have to manually edit the status_bar.XML and then copy and rename the status_bar.png then recompile the systemui.apk to get the matching notification area

First replace the background image in SystemUI.apk.
1. Open systemui with winrar.
2. Extract res/drawable-hdpi/statusbar_background.9.png and make it completely or semi transparent.
3. Drag the edited image into the winrar window overwriting the original.
4. Push it to the phone.
Second run the patch. Pulling, patching, and then finally flash the patched zip.
If there's also a statusbar_background.png (no .9) edit that one the same as the other.

When I run patcher.bat, I pull the files from my phone, then I try to enable statusbar transparency only and an error box pops up saying Windows cannot find 'temp/SytsemUI\smali\com\android\systemui\statusbar'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. On the command prompt window it says something like:
A subdirectory or file temp already exists.
A subdirectory or file temp\backup already exists.
Unable to access jarfile C:\Users\FAMILY~1\AppData\Local\Temp\Rar$DI11.888\\tool\apktool.jar
Unable to access jarfile C:\Users\FAMILY~1\AppData\Local\Temp\Rar$DI11.888\\tool\apktool.jar
The system cannot find the path specified.
Any ideas?
Edit: Never mind, a stupid mistake.
Doesn't work on GB. It kind of overlapped my current statusbar creating a sort of blur. But it doesn't make it transparent.

I knew that before I tried it. Someone was curious if it would work on GB so I tested it out.
can you share the transp systemui?
thank you
I'm running CM7 pre-beta and I'm using the MIUI theme. I ran the patcher.bat and selected transparent status bar only. I get my statusbar_patch and undo zips but when I install it I have no statusbar at all. And when I run the undo zip I still have no statusbar. What exactly did you guys do to get it to work? I installed the patch and uninstalled it several times already.
Try these, make sure the wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache also
Sometimes the notification bar is transparent for me and other times not. I flashed this patch with romracers cwm and seems to go smoothly. Any guesses? I have wiped cache, davlik cache numerous times.

I absolutely love the SGSII lockscreen on TSM Resurrection. But instead of AM/PM being displayed properly next to the time, I get Jan./Feb. instead. Looks like something inside the XML files inside framework-res.apk is messed up. I tried decompiling the APK and removing the AM/PM references in res/layout/zzz_keyguard_screen_clock.xml, but when I try to recompile and boot, the phone will get just hang at a black screen after the boot animation.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

it would actually be a resource id in android.policy.jar in one of the sgs2 lockscreen files....if i get a chance this week or next ill flash the rom and edit the file
No sweat, I know this is pretty far down on the list of priorities. If I can somehow figure it out before you do I'll post the file here. Thanks for the pointer. Trying to understand how this stuff works a little better...
OK, after decompiling android.policy.jar, I need to edit UnlockClockGB.smali to fix the AM/PM, but I don't know enough Java to figure out what's going on in there. I only know Python. I'd just remove the AM/PM reference, but don't know which method to change to remove it.
Just for your information, I'll keep working.

... crazy :silly: i can look later shortly in it.. but cant promise anything as im busy
for decompiling : i dont use apktool it gives me to much errors i like it rough but functional so i use this thread (just follow the instructions)
- but remember: 1. allways use the framework-res. from rom u have the apk from that u edit, bcuz if NOT, it can be that the app not show up in phone:cyclops:,
and : rizal made a mistake in his instrucitons for decomplile use command :
''apktool b -f -d appname''
