Gonna be flashing ics to my mates XS and root it. Mine is running xsspeed kernel 3 and ka10.2 and i love it. (seems to be a lot of problems with ka11)
So should i do the same to his or flash the later turkish rom and root and just remove all the pointless built in apps? And install a custom kernel only?
Opinions please?

Flash the latest Turkish build, root it, delete all bloatwares and keep the stock kernel.

Think the latest build is really worth it then? Use the advanced stock kernel for auto rooting?

Stock kernel for stability.
Extract the ftf file and you will find kernel.sin flash it with fastboot.
Fastboot flash boot kernel.sin

Hi! I recently unlocked my Xperia S bootloader and flashed XSX kernel. IF I flash the stock kernel again, will I lose recovery+root? Thanks in advance!

is it better than XSX?
I prefer it. But that's just my opinion

I did the same today, installed the GB 6.0.A.3.76TW firware and then fastbooted S-DooMKernel-v04 and then just flashed the original kernel.sin from the .76TW firmware. The system is running perfectly fine and smooth n i still got the root access.
Okey so im facing the following issue here: I have the FXP v136 9.1 Rom/kernel at the moment but i want to revert it to stock.
however, my backup is gone because my SSD died. sooo, how would i get the stock rom/kernel back? (i could download the 6.1.A.2.45 stock ROM) and flash this through clockwork recovery (not sure how you call it, the fastboot recovery mode)
however, i dont have the kernel (unless its in the 6.1.A.2.45 ROM file)
not sure what i have to do here
just flash stock 2.45 firmware using flastool with flash mode

Well, you could always flash Advanced Stock Kernel and find a stock FTF. You can rename the FTF to zip and extract the kernel and flash it.
Please hit the thanks button if I helped

No, the custom kernel (siyah in your case) will be a .tar file, which is to be flashed via Odin.

Yes, you can flash Siyah kernel (the .tar file) without rooting.

From the periphery,
1. Odexed ROM means that the System apps and frameworks ( .apks and jars) are divided into two parts the apk and Odex files, instead of one single file e.g The Odexed music player will be music.apk + music.Odex.
Music.Odex might also contain some files necessary for other apps to work. Etc
2. In Deodexed , the Odex files are already merged into their respective apks, therefore containing one single file for each app.
3. Advantage of Odexed is better RAM management
4. Advantages of deodexed are better space management, easy to MOD.
I post any better explanation (or a link) about this subject later (if I'm chanced)

Hi there!
I am wanting to update my Samsung Galaxy GT-i9300 but am worried about the process because of having installed a custom kernel previously (would this muck up installing a new custom rom I wonder..)
Please find attached a screenshot of the settings and please tell me what I should do (if anything needs done) before I flash a new custom rom.
Cheers!
if you're worried about kernels, then just flash stock kernel then flash a custom rom on it.

kk, could you provide me with a suitable stock kernel (or links to one) which will be compatible with the rom I have installed?
any stock kernel that is for jb will be fine.

I am on android version 4.0.4 (so technically not JellyBean). and its safe to flash a stock kernel for JB despite being on that version before I flash a custom rom?
Sorry for asking, get confused easily..
you should be fine updating with a custom kernel (as all roms flash a kernel as well). Just make sure you factory reset when moving from ics to JB as you will most likely encounter problems if you don't.

I would suggest flashing ICS stock kernel first if you're worried. I thought you were already on jb.

Easy
Reflash the stock ics ROM
And flash any custom ROM you want
Enjoy

If I flashed kernel with BMM to system 2, will this kernel also impact on System 1 ??
Or System 1 and 2 will use different kernel ??
Thanks
on bmm there are several ROM slots but only one boot.img - kernel. so it does affect to other slots... fe. ics on stock and jb based on slot 2 ( to use ics u will have to flash old kernel back) . only kexec roms use their own one .
I have flashed cm10.2 on system 2 with JBX kernel, that's mean this kernel not affect stock kernel of stock jb on system ??
thanks

I'm also interested in knowing that.
I think jbx won't impact the stock one (system 1) if you flash it on system 2 with bmm..
