How to Bypass the AOSP Wallpaper Cropper - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For any one having issues setting custom wallpapers through an AOSP based ROM, I have found the solution. Upload the image(s) to any host. I simply use my G+ account. Access said site using your device (through the browser) and long press your chosen image until the menu comes up. Choose Set As Wallpaper and voila! A full size, non-cropped custom wallpaper on your phone/tablet.

Thanks always been annoyed by this bit of ignorant setting ,
I would like to chose myself if I would want it cropped or not,
Maybe nice add to remove the cropping in custom roms

It does not work for me on AOKP M6. That's why I went through the trouble of figuring this out. There is not an app on the market that avoids the "cropper" on AOSP ROMs in my experience.

Try app in google play called (simple image wallpaper free) after installation you will find the app under live wallpapers and choose you image and set and full screen no croping at all

The same goes for wpClock

I think you guys have missed the point. You should not have to download an app in order to set a wallpaper "as-is". The method I posted is quite simple and does not force the download and install of an app and you also avoid having tons of images on your phone at one time. Plus, the 3 wallpaper apps I've tried are full of ads and still force the crop.

[Q] [Google +] "Set as Wallpaper": where's image stored?

When viewing an image in the Android Google Plus app, you can "Set as Wallpaper," but not save it, and I can't find the image anywhere on my device (Nook Color, CM7).
I'd like to use some images from someone's G+ album with Multipicture Live Wallpaper. Anyone know where I can find the image after it's set as my wallpaper?
I would love to know this too. can't find it.
Try SD/android/data/com.Google.android.app.plus
I never download picture. Try this location out.

There's no clear G+ folder in that directory, unfortunately. I nosed around in several other folders, but still no luck.

There were tons of FCs with stock gallery. I recommend to use QuickPic instead. It supports more and has good features (ie loads pics only from desired folders ).
Just eithe reflaah and thwn restore xrecoveey data or copy the apk from the zip into your system!!! and reboot and dix pwrns

Sometimes kernel tweaks will also affect the performance. If ya using battery saver governors or frequencies, performance or launch of apps will be slightly affected. Try change other governors. Should be better. Hope helps.
And yes as senior helium mentioned, quickpic is great replacement for gallery esp donuthd. But if you using music lockscreen for stock, you can only use gallery instead of quick pic to crop your lockscreen wallpaper. Quickpic is not supported for that, but good enough for cropping pictures as your desktop/homescreen wallpapers. You can either install its apk or move it to directory system>apps.
Answered this along with PM topic you sent, just read it before posted this.

Optimize Android Icons to HD ?

Hi, I was just wondering if there was some developer app or trick to optimize the app icons on Jelly Bean to HD, instead of having them all blurry ? I used to have an iPod 4th Gen and there was an app in Cydia that would optimize the app icon to retina display, it was called iretiner >_> IS there a way to do this on Android ? No, I'm not an Apple Sheep, don't worry, I just had this thought flying through my head and I had to ask it since I kept searching and couldn't find anything about it, so here I am o.o Thanks for your replies !

Icons in Android are automatically scaled after what display you're on by the OS. It will automatically seek out the one that's closest to your resolution out of 5 categories, LDPI (Low) MDPI (Medium) HDPI (High) XHDPI (Extra high). Unless the maker of the app has provided a high res version, (XHDPI would be "HD") there is no way. You cant magcally make a picture better, despite what CSI wants you to think.

Actually. iRetiner REPLACES the app icon with a larger one, given its available (jailbreak required).
Android is smart enough to take the best suited icon and use it, given the developer made an icon of that size (without rooting).

Is it possible to get the icon from the app once downloaded, enlarge it with photo editing software, and replace it ? It's just irritating that the app gameplay is completely HD, but the icon is not.

So I'm assuming that the stock Jelly Bean launcher won't allow you to change them, even if you use some kind of root explorer to replace the icon with a bigger one in the app'a folder ?

I'm sure you could do it with root explorer, but you might run into issues where you'd need a computer or change something within a zip or apk, or some other sys stuff.
Kinda like changing LCD density, I make mine lower and have to use a phone.apk from another phone, if I dont my phone force closes

If you had the .apk file of the app, you could extract it, replace the icon, and rezip it back into a .apk. Then install it.
But Play doesn't give you the file, and it would be annoying to find the newest version of every app as it came out and extract, replace, rezip.

System stuff such as what ? It seems simple enough to mess with the app apk's, what system stuff would need changing ?
If you want to change the apps icon, take the apk file (which can be found in system/apps but this might be different on your phone just use a file browser with a search function to find it). decompile it using the apktools, change the icon to what you want then recompile and install

Via SD Maid App, it is free,
open--> settings---> app control--> show system app,
then app control--> tap on app/widget/livewallpaper ---> export apk
the problem is not the exporting part, but making the apk work on your particular device, there are lot of dependencies based on that particular model. Currently working on a F-03F, it is the most adorable phone ever. Will upload the APKs as I get them working on other phones...

Okay I downloaded all of that stuff. Some apps told me I was on the wrong device and another told me my phone number wasn't connected to docomo I think the next step might be posting the data from the obb folder on your device.
Oh wait never mind the only apps I can get to run are the clock widget and the live wallpaper. I thought there were more Disney clocks?
Do you happen to have the F-03F stock rom by any chance?
