Nightly P4 and text messaging - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all. I'm new to custom roms and just installed nightly p4. Im having trouble sending a text message, after composing the text message I select send and thereafter the network or signal just dies and comes back for a second then dies again. Its a constant loop.
I was also wondering if there was any way I could get the standard Polaris office, text memo and pen memo back,
Thanks.

Depend on which custom roms you're running on. If you're running on those bloatware free like cyanogenmod or aokp, you won't be having Polaris office or the memos.
Please press Thanks =D

I also experienced the problem where the network keep on disconnecting on both wifi and mobile data. Solved it by flashing another modem.

[Q] MMS and text issues!!!

hello everybody i need some help with two issues that have tested my patience and now im at breaking point.
1) everytime my text message is too long it becomes a MMS i have data runnning and everything but the MMS or text it wont go through neither does picture messaging or any other time of MMS it just says downloading but it doesnt go beyond that.
2) my school has poor service. now if i send a text message the vibrant tells me message has failed. which is fine. but is there a way where the message keeps on trying to send till it catches a signal by itself instead of me goign back and forth trying to find a signal and resending the text again and again and again and again. similar to like BB and nokia. where they phone keeps trying to send.
im really frustrated with these things if i could get any help i would be really greatful
im running Trigger 2.9.2
great appreciate any help or information regarding this.
You should download the AOSP MMS.apk and flash it through CWM to replace the MMS.apk that comes with Trigger. That should fix the mms not sending issue. If that doesn't help, download GO! SMS from the market and send the MMS through that app and that should clear up network errors and your mms should go through.
http://teamwhiskey.com/temp/AOSPmms.zip
for your first issue it is a phone number format issue. remove the +1 and - from all your numbers. There is an app in the market that will do this, but I have forgotten the name.
for you second issue there is no auto retry on android. This is something your just going to have to deal with. If I were you I would not load any other SMS apps as I have seen some issues with my messages going to wrong people after swapping out one MMS.APK for another. just retry your message manually and hopefully google will add auto resend one day.

Go SMS Pro sending issues

Ok, I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 on T-Mobile, not sure if this is the same for all carriers.
I have been using Go SMS Pro. Never had any issues till they updated it a few updates ago..I have uninstalled it and reinstalled. The problem is, that some Text (SMS)messages won't send, they FAIL. It don't matter if it's short (5 or less words) or long. or to who it gets sent to. I can, however, exit out of this app, and try to send it using the stock App that came with the phone and it sends without any issues. I am lost at this point as to why it keeps happening, or how to fix it.
Has anyone else experienced this isuue and if so, how have you fixed it?
I have alos tried to use Hancent SMS and it also did the same thing..
hmm i'm having a similar problem, but mine does send after a while instead of failing to send completely. Sometimes, my text messages will be stuck during the "sending" animation, where the green arrow just keeps loading and doesn't stop (which means it's not sent out). After a while, it will send out, but that's usually after i send a txt to someone else or if i exit and restart GO SMS PRO, or do something else. I'm not sure exactly but it just works after a while.
It's nothing to do with bad signals either. I'm not sure if it's because I've updated my Motorola Milestone to CM7 RC1, because i've never had this problem before on CM7 RC0. I dunno, it could be due to basebands as well? For my Milestone, I can choose to switch between basebands in the settings (provided by CM7 itself), but i've never had this problem before so i dunno....
I actually gave up on that app...happened quite too many times.. I now use Hancent SMS and never have this issue again... It also was happening to a co-worker and she did the same thing after I told her about it..

Sorry, as silly as this sounds...I gave up on this app a long time ago and went with Hancent SMS Pro...only had this issue once with them and found out on my type of phone Galaxy S2, I can't disable the other SMS apps in Handcent, I had to leave it enabled...so try that with Go SMS Pro...I don't know/remember if Go SMS had this option in the Settings...Good Luck...let us know if that worked or not...
Had the same problem using Go SMS with two SIM cards. Both failed to send to certain numbers; so it's not an issue with providers. Solved this way: Go SMS settings, More tools, SMS blocker, Settings, disable all black list and white lists. The app runs normally again. The developers should take note of this.
hhhmmmm... same here... I can't send SMS using GO SMS Pro to my Samsung Galaxy Note 1. But I can send message using the ordinary app here which has only 80 characters.... What should I do? How can I fix it? But it works in my Motorola phone.. hhhmmm....
Just go to your app manager, then choose ho sms pro, then below the premissions part. You can see the options on sending premium sms. Select ASK and try if it works again...

[Q] SMS problem

As said in the title, i've been experiencing some problems with SMS.
I have a galaxy tab 10.1 gt-p7500, and i've always been able to send sms with it. However, last week it started giving me an error whenever i tried to send a message. It just shows "Error. Message not sent"
Moreover, i can't even receive messages anymore, even if my phone says that the message has been delivered.
P.S.
The tablet is rooted and i'm using the stock ics rom, however it started doing this before i rooted it.
are you sure that the problem is with the tablet?

The sim card actually works with other devices.
the data connection is also working, so the problem is only with messages.
if the problem started befor rooting and you are on stock than

If the problem started before rooting and you are on stock than it is unlikely that there is somthing wrong with the rom.
did you check your apn settings?

yes, it says "failed to connect, try back later"
This happens only with the tablet, if I insert the sim in the phone everything works flawlessly.
EDIT:
Checked back again, the apn settings seem to be fine.

[Q] Text messages disappearing

I'm on a Verizon note 2 using the standard root backatcha Verizon or suckit whatever the latest one was. After I send a few text messages all of my texts disappear and I have to restart my phone to get them to show up. Anyone know why? Also is there a rom out yet that works like the Galaxy s4 with 4.2.2 and the eye tricks? When my phone reboots die to the text messaging error it always gives me an error message saying currently unable to download. I'm not sure what it is trying to download or why my texts randomly disappear. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like an issue either with your Su needing to be updated, or the messaging app your using.
I would wipe phone. re-run the stock rooter in odin. then go back to using recovery after that for flashing roms.

CyanogenMod m12 problems with SMS

So I'm running the latest official cyanogenmod snapshot (2014-11-12 m12). Everything's been working great, except that half the time it doesn't send my texts.
I haven't had any problems receiving SMS or MMS, but after sending one text I lose the ability to send more (only tried sending SMS tho).
By default I use Textra, but the problem affects any texting app. For example, I just switched to the stock Messaging app and sent 3 test SMS texts... Only the first one sent. The other two got "Error: -1" under Details.
Another thing to note is that I don't get wireless signal in some areas that I used to... Normally I'm in Global Mode and switching to other modes doesn't seem to help.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
