low in-call volume and too loud with hearing aid - HTC EVO 3D

So it kinda depends on who I am talking with and the environment I am in. But in general the in-call volume is pretty low that even I am at home, I need to shut the window so I can reduce the noise from passing by cars and turn off the cylindrical fans (this type of fan is kinda loud on max level). When I turn on the hearing aid, it's plenty loud. But sometimes it is too loud that it's making me deaf. With hearing aid turned on, the volume rocker won't work anymore. I am pretty much just stuck with the max volume. I was wondering if anyone knows a solution to this dilemma?

I have the same issue with in call volume

I think it's the phone, I've used many cell phones and the evo, I find the front speaker is also to low, any loud noise forget about hearing a conversation

Yeah my phone had the same problem. I was using headphones when receiving a call, but I got tired of that so I decided to take it in for repairs.
In the meantime, I'm stuck with a cheap Samsung Intercept loaner phone until my phone gets fixed. For now, I guess you can use some headphones if you have any lying around.

Variable volume in calls

Does anyone else's volume go up and down in a call? And no, I'm not hitting the volume button at all...lol
Yes, mine does this. It's annoying. Still love my 3d.
Same here. Luckily, using the phone for actual calls is the least thing I do.
Indeed.. drives me crazy

Same here. Every time I call someone the ring is half-quiet, half-loud. Like someone is flipping the switch of an amplifier on and off.
yup, same here,,Not sure what the problem is but I don't like it
put me down too, guess i originally thought it was some sort of noise cancellation amplification type of thing.
I've only noticed that while the other person's phone is ringing. Haven't had an issue during a conversation though.
Nice to know I'm not the only one I notice it most when the phone is ringing before the person I am calling answers...sometimes during the conversation itself. Not a huge deal, but a minor annoyance.

Hissing and static over headphone jack

anyone else who applied the new update notice that the static and crackling over the headphone jack is gone?

Tentative yes. The first thing I did after the update was check by listening to a classical song, and also playing it with the volume turned all the way down.
I'm a little paranoid that it might just be my ears deceiving me, or a temporary reprieve, so I'll give it a little longer to prove itself.
Same thing happened to me, I guess a lot of people are experiencing the same issue. Htc says they are working on an update to fix it. I'm just going to return mine and hope for the best.
Oops didn't read the first post all the way...N/M what I said

Yeah some other people are confirming that the hissing/static noise is gone. Wonder if it's cause of the radio update.
Mine still has the problem. Loud hissing in left ear bud but goes away kind of if I roll back and forth in my chair and create static. Also when the button back lite comes on there is a constant high pitch sound until it turns off. The update did not fix mine ><'
Several people in the original Audio Whining/Squealing thread have reported a drastic improvement after the OTA.

I think we can call this one fixed!
Temp Rezound high pitched whine solution
Not sure if this has been brought up as a "temp" solution, but wanted to share as it’s made my Rezound much better. I saw this on the HTC Community forums by James on 01/18/12. I am not affiliated with the app in any way.
On my Rezound (stock), the static was fixed with the last OTA update, but I still had the high pitched whine when the screen was on (and sometimes a little bit after it went off). Downloaded the app the guy mentioned and I don't get the whine anymore. No more back-lit buttons while it’s enabled, but the sound is great again. Hopefully HTC will have a fix for what seems like interference from the buttons being lit. FYI – The shortcut on the screen acts like a toggle after the initial setup, so it’s easy to enable/disable.

“I noticed that the phone would have that "whine / hiss" sound every time the capacitive buttons would light up, and the sound would go away after they turned off.. So I got an app of the marketplace called "Screen Filter" and using this app allowed me to turn off the soft-key backlight function at all times.
For me this has eliminated the high pitched whine noise that was pouring into my left ear, however there is still a pop sound when the audio is first turned on for applications or videos.”
I'm on the Leal ruu and I still notice it just as much as before.

I still get hissing and static when I plug into certain stereo systems. Like the one in my car. Playing music is fine, but if I pause, it makes this awful clicking/static/hissing noise. When I resume playing, it is fine. But it only does it in my car and my home theater system. My room and every other system is great.

[Q] Speaker Phone

Quick question for anyone who may be able to answer this.
Has anyone noticed a low volume when the speaker phone is ON while making a call?
The phone speakers are awesome when you play music. Also normal call volume is very good. However, when I turn the speaker phone ON during a call, the sound from the speakers doesnt seem to be that great. Infact it is quite faint.
Any one else has the problem?? Also does anyone know any solutions??
Used the speaker phone yesterday for the first time and must admit even set to the highest it was piss poor low, very disappointed as like you said the speaker when playing music or video is fantastic.

this is my problem too, even my X10 mini beats the XPS! I need a louder speaker phone...
I also have this problem with a very very low sound when speakerphone is ON during the phone conversation. I have the latest software 2.3.7.I have had 4 Android phones before Xperia S and did not had such a basic problem. After all the quality conversation is mobiles priority number one before all the media, design, display and etc in my opinion. It is so low that I don't hear 50% of the conversation on a speakerphone when am I alone in a room. Please don't give any solutions like turn up the volume during conversation and all other settings since I have done it already. This is simple a manufacturers software mistake. Sony please take this seriously and don't embarrass on such a basic thing in phone like speakerphone volume. Everything else on this phone is great, only problem is a loose cover for the micro usb that you use everyday to charge the phone.
Strangely, when I switched to speaker mid call yesterday the other person commented that I got A LOT clearer for them Didnt sound quiet for me either, though I was in a quiet environment so it wasnt competing with anything.
Did you turn on xLOUD?

Sound problem?

I just got my new EVO LTE. I rooted it and running meanrom 6.0. I've been having trouble with my sound? When I plug it into my car I turn the volume all the way up and its still not that loud and no bass kicks in. When I plug in my EVO 3d I turn the volume all the way up on the phone and you can hear way better. Is there something wrong with my EVO? Or is there a setting preventing it to reach its maximum volume?
I don't think anything is wrong with your phone the volume just sucks. You could try an app volume+ didn't really help me but it might for you.
the headset volume is pretty low, I've played with the settings to see if I can get more of a decent output but it starts to sound distorted. The only thing I can think of is this trend of dropping the volume that's slowly making a return. A few years back advocates complained about kids damaging their hearing and a lot of companies went so far as to build limiter circuits to keep them from reaching certain decibels. Of course that worked a bit differently, you could still get full volume with a few work arounds

Top speaker crackling

I've had my M8 for about a day now and I'm very happy with it. I really love how you can now set up the volume rocker as a shutter button...finally!
Unfortunately my phone has an issue where the top speaker crackles in two situations, both when the volume is at the max setting. The first situation is when placing an outgoing call the top speaker crackles with every ring. Not too bad a situation by itself. But that top speaker also crackles along with peoples' voices. No other issues when listening to music either via Google Music or Pandora. I even tried to install an equalizer app to tone down the mid range but the crackles persist.
Hopefully this is the only phone with this issue but I did want to share this with the community. I'm heading to an AT&T store later today to exchange it for another unit.
You are not alone. I bought two brand new phones (ATT Version) in ebay. Both had the same issues. I am in the process of returning them. When you dont have proper reception of the voice call, the unwanted noise gets amplified. The phone does not have proper noise filter. My ear pains sometime. When this phone cannot be used as a basic phone, then I dont want to waste my money. Apart from that, this phone has lot of other issues like bluetooth, sluggish sometime, battery, intermittent touch response issues, etc.... mentioned in the various forums in the internet.
The sound quality on the bottom speaker and the external look are the ones worth mentioning which stand outs from other phones. My experience with HTC One M8 is very bad and I am not going to get another HTC product.
I bought mine three days ago and I notice a little bit of crackling as well. It happens when the volume is at max is not a strong cracklings but I can hear it, should I go to at&t to get a replacement?
